Thats why I,ve ordered the Blu-Ray version from Play-Asia,so I don't have to work out adding funds in the Japanese store.

So is everyone getting the Blu-Ray version or is anyone going to do the download & give all of us waiting on UPS an early look?

i'm getn my from the store. I plan on buying a PrezzyCard(dunno if other countrie's have them???) It's a Visa Debit card sort of thing. You go into the post shop and tell them how much you want on it and they swip it through the eftpos machine and upload the money onto it. It cost's $5 to get one and upload the money onto it. It is recognised as a Visa through everything so it is just like having a credit card without all the hassle(and age/job restrictions) i Buy them all the time for my ebay purchases(spent $280 on t.a.t.u. cd's and dvd's in the last 2 week's hahaha. The danger's of being bored on a computer with money:p). so Yea that's how i intend to get it.

Oh yea and EB games have GT5:P listed as being releases(in NZ) in mid January:D wohoo we may alway's get the full game a few months late, but with prologues we also a get a month or two ahead. hahaha

I'm hopeful the Prologue team can get the thing up and running soon. The thing is, as I posted in reply in another thread, this is a pretty big project. It's not just GT5P online, there's a lot more to it. A Myspace, GT TV, chat... I forget what all, and Sony has to not only set up the network infrastructure for it, but translate a TON of content for dozens of regions. GT TV has to be translated, and that may be a huge workload. I'm beginning to think that a February release for the rest of us might be a little optimistic. But Sony is determined to get this out as close to Christmas '07 as possible as Gran Turismo is a huge moneymaker for them, and they can enable things like GT TV as they go, so we'll see.

Oh, and because of all that online stuff, I'll just wait for a US copy. It'll hurt, but I'll paint cars in Forza and drool on the boards as you guys get the Japanese version. And I want Blu-ray too.

i'm ready to do a pre order myself and am holding on till the last moment to do so because theres still some chance of a Aus release of gt5:p by xmas 07. manager at ebgames here believes so (though probably doesn't know what hes talking about) and there is also a game expo on this weekend i'm going to tomorrow where theres a playable demo of gt5:p so hopefully i can get some info about the game then. if the game is to be released after febuary though i think ill just import a copy.

Ordered mine last week from Play Asia. Got me so excited I bought G25 wheel to replace the DFP.

I'd hold out were sopposed to be getting it some time in january over here in NZ so you guy's across the ditch should be getting it the same time. Even if you don't im sure i could ship it over to you if you have a paypal account...

i've preordered my copy of gt5p with fedex shipping. Anxious about the multiplayer I hope it's already implemented in gt5p.

I will not be buying a game I can not read or understand, if they come out with an American or even a UK release then I might think about getting it. The full version of GT5 will be soon enough and I think I can wait till it hits the stores.

That's my opinion too. I'm getting bored of buying demos and prologues and add-ons, to end up having a rather disappointing game (GT4).
When GT5 is out I'll decide if it's worth buying a PS3 for it and I stick to Forza2 meanwhile.

Online multiplayer will be in GT5P, the question is will we be able to get on the servers outside of Japan.

That's a big 'IF', for spending a considerable (for me at least) amount of money on a game's prologue.

Besides, the game being fully in japanese doesn't cut it for me (on the - free - demo is ok), mainly because I'll be getting the EU version when it comes out. I don't want to pay twice for the same game, especially when one of them I won't understand fully. I'll find it both frustrating and a lousy business.

Of course I'm still eager to read what people that have it think and to see pics/vids of it. 👍

I have a question. What is wrong with ordering the asian (not Japanese) version of GT5: Prologue from Play-asia.com which is 5 USD cheaper than the Japanese version and it launches two days earlier? I take it that it is not a legit offering.

Yeah i dunno how the Asian version has an earlier release date, however, the language is still listed as Japanese.

I'm fighting the urge to buy this version because i know what would happen:

- I'll buy the japanese version, and the english copy would probably be released like a month later!

Why can't we have a world-wide release date!!!

Ugh I dont know if its really worth it. I mean I wont be able to understand anything in it. Is there any indication as to how long it will take to get an English version??

At any rate, here it is on yesasia for $47.99 with free worldwide shipping.

Is it even clear if we are getting an English version?

Yes, It has been anounced (Both PAL and US NTSC regions), but not dated.

Though PAL territorys did have a late 2007 date but that was before the Japanese delay.

It is legit.

Japanese version is for Japanese only. Asian version is for rest of Asia.

Well, seeing that the GT5 estimated launch date have now been pushed back to end 2008...its actually not that short a period of time:indiff:

BTW, got preordered my copy @ $47 from play-asia, shipping included

Had a friend in Australia pre-order from PA since they're not allowed to ship to Europe - He'll fast forward here it as soon as it hits his doorstep..

Fingers crossed it makes it before Xmess...

I preordered the Asian version at Playasia, along with a Dual Shock 3. Looks like those of us who ordered the Asian version will get it a little earlier and a little cheaper than some of you!

for now the Japanese version is set for 13th... the american version could be a day, week, month later... or if we are lucky enough the same day :)
ill just wait for my American version. With everything translated... and the GT TV might have subtitles as well :)

I guess GT TV is region based, like PSN Stores. Don't think that we'll be able to watch Best Motoring and JGTC Content on EU/US Versions of the game.

It has not been confirmed yet, but I own a Japanese version of Wangan Midnight and it allows online gaming with Japanese players. But with a bad ping -> it's really laggy

I don't see any informatioin about not shipping to Europe anymore. Anyway, I'll preorder it from yesasia.com together with some Asian dvds :) I won't buy the European Version afterwards, but I'll buy the EU Version of the full Gran Turismo 5, hopefully before 2009 :D

Because localization takes time and they don't want to miss sales on Christmas.
So they have to release something.

Pardon my ignorance, but: is there a Japanese equivalent of Christmas? Or is Shopping a world-wide religion?

So the game really IS coming out for US right? Well I hope it will come soon so we can hit the server and have some fun.
In the post #49, Jay does say that the released was announced, but not dated. Last I heard somewhere on this site, American release was not 100%.

I prefer to buy it locally, but if I can't, and GT5 was long way out(there's no chance of that![/scarcasm]), I'll probably import it as well.

I'm going to asnwer this, but if this was some sort of sarcasm and I'm missing the point, I apologize in advance. :D

Not quite to the extent of American Christmas shopping, but it is big in Japan also. Japanese toy sales gets another boost right after the new year as well.

So the disc version:
  • ¥4,980 ($45, €31, £22)
And the download version:
  • ¥4,500 ($40, €28, £20)
With shipping & handling charges from over seas retailers nearly doubling the price and the extra time waiting for it to be shipped, the download version looks like the version to get.

Well I paid the extra $19 for 3 day shipping so the wait won't be that bad & since I have the disc I can take it with me & play it at other peoples houses & if my hard drive ever crashes I have it in hard copy.
Of course the extra $$ wasn't an issue for me where as I didn't want to have to get another credit card that would be accepted in Japan so I can download it.
