Who on here will be getting GT5 Prologue, Japanese edition?

$40 is a bit to expensive in my opinion, I really won't be getting this now.

I've got it preorderd from yesasia.com. I'm not really that bothered by the language barrier, it's not like it's a RPG that's text intensive and I've imported every release of GT since GT2 and it's not that difficult to figure the menus out.

Unsurprisingly I'm really eager to have a go in the Ferrari F430 and Audi R8 and (surprisingly) the Suzuki Swift Sport. Should also be interesting to see how the tricky Renault Clio V6 will handle with the new physics system. It will defenitely be nice if we can race online though not being in Japan I don't know if that will be possible.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is coming out next Friday (7th) here, that will keep me busy until my copy of GT5 Prologue slips through the letterbox. The wait is nearly over! :)

i've managed to get a shot at driving the f430 and audi r8 in gt5p at a game expo about a month ago. The audi feels very stuck to the road the f430 is taily. however this demo i played, the gtr felt taily aswell compared to the gt5:p download off the japanese psn

i've given up waiting for some sort of announcement of gt5p for australia so i've ordered my japanese copy from play asia. should arrive somewhere beteween 14-17 december i hope

A game expo in Australia had GT5P running? Or was this overseas?

yes was in melbourne. the demo had 3 tracks (fuji, suzuka and i've forgotten the 3rd but infineon is coming to mind), all the cars were identical to what is in the current Japanese psn demo except the gtr was not unveiled and there was none of the "new" cars that were unveiled within the demo. the graphics werent as good as the psn demo so i am pretty sure it was same demo as has been shown at tgs etc. earlier in the year. Also it was in japanese.

I know with the demo, all of the GTTV videos were available for download on my PS3, and i'm assuming all of those vids were posted using Japanese servers....but maybe I'm wrong. It's possible that connectivity between users in Japan may not work, whereas connectivity within the game for GTTV might be different? I'm not completely sure....just seems like to me if GTTV worked living here in the US, then playing online on Japanese servers wouldn't be a problem.

i read somewhere while browsing , a japanese guy claiming that he visted a nearby store and saw a bunch of GT5P bluray disks (behind the cashir i think) but they won't sell it, and said you can only book your copy now & pick it @ 13th

if what wonder what's the point of saying that ......... my point is knowing that 'll make me feel better about no more release date delay

Those interested in the US release date, it is not completely confirmed, but here's the story:

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2255.html
It does appear that a NA release of GT5:P is coming in late February - March time period, but there are some problems with that article:

However, if the recent post from the PS3Mods blog can be believed, Sony has revealed a North American release date for the hotly anticipated GT5 demo: February 19, 2008. Now, we're going to search for the official word from Sony, but it certainly sounds plausible. We were hoping to have it in time for the holidays, but so long as we get it at some point, we're happy. However, we're still wondering how much the demo will cost (if anything), and whether or not it will also appear on standard Blu-Ray disc. We think it'd be a darn good idea to give this sucker away to anyone who pre-orders Gran Turismo 5 next year, so we could always hope for that. If you recall, they did this for Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction.
While it may seem like semantics, it isn't GT5: Demo, it's GT5: Prologue. And there is no need to wonder of it will cost money, or if it will be available on disc as both are also confirmed, and have been for some time now.

In addition, the "early demo" for Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction was just the same demo that everyone else got for free via download, only you got it a few days early, and on disc, if you pre-ordered the game which came out a few days later.

Seeing as GT5 doesn't even have a release date, is probably not going to be coming out for at least another year, will very likely have significant differences from Prologue, and that there has already been a free demo for Prologue, and that in Japan, they are selling GT5: Prologue on disc for only about about ¥1,000 ($9) cheaper than the normal full priced PS3 games... any speculation that this might be some kind of typical free demo or is in any way similar to the free demo of Ratchet & Clank shows a serious lack of understanding or knowledge about GT5: Prologue, and what has already been confirmed.

Unless all the cases weren't sealed and they had them opened to show the disc, then I can't see how he determined the discs were actually there.

Sony and other game publishers often send out empty cases to put on shelves early to act as a reminder that the game is coming out soon and that the retailer can take pre-orders for them. They do this regularly for highly anticipated titles, like Uncharted: DF, Assassin’s Creed, etc.

I'm obviously not saying this is the case in this situation, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me to know those cases were all empty and used as a marketing tool, as this is a very common practice.

@STINGer71 in post #69:
where from do you get the "asia" release date? is this an official one? and which languages are implemented in the japan-version / asia-version?
any info about the possibility that in the asia-version there´s everything written in english amongst chinese and japanese, of course?

Fahrer, the info for the Asia version was taken from the Play Asia website. Rather than an official date for the Asia games, Play Asia often list the date of when they'll have stock.

In regard to language, Asia Gran Turismo titles vary from game to game. Eg: GT4 Prologue was (aside from car names) presented entirely in Chinese. On the other hand, Gran Turismo Concept 2002 had an English/Chinese language option. If you can wait a little longer, the Aisa version will likely be more readable than the JDM version. Conundrum, eh?

Hello there

I cannot seem to order from play-asia it states that the product is not yet released which is obvious, however i thought i would at least be able to get my order in? Any thoughts? I could go to yes asia as some have done here already.

Hello wasib, I think you'll find that most people who are making the switch to Yes Asia live within the European Union. Sony Europe have recently encouraged Play Asia to cease selling certain Sony products to the EU, and as that includes Britain, you're unable to place the pre-order.

:indiff:

Incredible, it never ceases to amaze me, seeing Sony going to these lengths to stop games coming into the hands of gamers. If only they spent this much effort working on third party game support. Kind of shows where Playstation is, where having created a massive empire, Sony seem hell-bent on monopolising and bringing everything in-house or under their control, when they should be doing the exact opposite. 👎

Anyway Yes-Asia it is, as the only option left (i remember another company going under because of Sony also, i think it was called lik-sang?). Sad for Play-Asia to lose sales like this. Mind you better keep quite about Yes-Asia also, its only a matter of time before the 'ugly' lawyers at Sony reveal themselves again...

Thank you for your help, a useful and mature forum this is and... well cannot wait for GT5, its going to be awesome as usual and we can always rely on Polyphony Digital :)

I also live in europe and i orderd mine GT5p at renchi.com, it's a company in Hong kong.

Well I'll be waiting for the EU version. Even if it does mean half of GTP will be playing it before I get it, I'd prefer to wait and be patient. (I really hope there is a EU one now...)

Hmm...they neva release an american prologue.....i guess im gonna get the Japanese editon online.

The US version is coming...soon. It has been announced, but the date has not been announced yet.

Sony is promoting this version here in the states. If you want to see the latest trailer, check my "VGA thread".

As well as a link to all the GT5:P related videos on GameTrailers:
Interestingly enough they seem to have removed the teaser trailer for the official VGA trailer:

According to Gametrailers.com theres a new trailer for Prologue out on the 9th Dec.
It will be shown during the TV broadcast of the 2007 Video Game Awards show on Spike TV. For more info about the history of the awards show, Wiki has a decent listing for it.

Here is the teaser trailer for the upcoming GT5:P trailer.

On the subject of GT trailers, does anyone have a link to a HD version of the Gran Turismo SEMA Awards trailer?
