i had to ask this somewhere
I prefer the actual driving in gt5, forza does most the other things better though

I feel that Forza 3 has a smoother feel to it compared to GT5.... a little ragged. Don't get me wrong, GT5's quality is superb but there is something about it that makes me think that it feels stiff.
Campaign-wise, GT5 is way better than Forza 3. The overall mechanics is just way better and you feel like you are pursuing something because you have to level up. In Forza, you get free cars and to the next class? I don't remember. It's been a long time since I played Forza 3. I got to level 50 within 36% game progress.
Also, since I am a controller user (not like most of you who have DFGT or G27 or others) I find that the xbox 360 controller is better suited in controlling the braking and the throttling of the car due to the triggers. With the DS3, it feels like I can only go one way or the other. It's hard to control the throttle and braking. Yes, yes, yes, I should get a wheel.... but do I have $100 to $300 to spare? No.
In the end, there are certain aspects Forza 3 is better than GT5 and then vice-versa.
I cant really think of 1 single thing GT5 does better than Forza 3. I think GT5 is a good game, but there are many aspects of Forza 3 I think are better.
If you rear end someone in forza doing 60mph, you wont win. You'll see the diagram on screen showing you your car has suffered mechanical damage. Not only that, but they deduct from your winnings if you even can finish the race. You rear end someone in GT5 doing 150mph, you might get a scratch. So In forza I had to drive careful in smart, in GT5 I just mash everyone out of the way straight to victory.
You dont have to get a wheel just for that. Use the right stick for throttle and braking, it works great.

Forza 4 could have the potential to truly out do GT, which will be a shame because of the limited steering wheel support.

2 of which are 2 of the most important things to me in a racing sim, aside of course from the physics/handling which feel equal to me in both games. But they are damage and AI, Forza 3 nails both of these things.

And the AI, the AI in Forza 3 is almost human-like intelligent. In fact its pretty tough to tell the difference between them and other humans. In GT5 they dont even know your there. And not only that, but they do stupid things all the time. I was on the Indy track last night, I saw a car slam on his brakes on a straight with noone around him. Never saw anything close to that in Forza.
Also bugs me how in forza I can change my brakes and do engine swaps, and paint my cars if I want with the editor, only thing GT5 does in this area that you cant do in forza is change the horn. Thanks Kaz.
So yeah, I definitely know in my mind which game is better.
