By "elevators", I take it you mean elevations?

As far as I know, elevations cannot be adjusted. They are either pre-set or randomly-generated, probably the former.

Well, I created a 7 sector Eifel track, randomly flicked the sliders about abit and the track that came out was pretty enjoyable to drive.

however, it looked pretty sparse, with the exception of a castle onevery hill top... wierd.

No elevation control

It seems to do a good job at spitting out tracks that are enjoyable to drive (so far I've mostly been experimenting with high speed tracks with more long, sweeping curves than tight corners), but visually very bland.

I tried making a touge track using the japanese mountain. It kind of worked. The elevation is set by the map topography. The topography never changes.

The elevations can't be changed but when you're making the track you can see the contour lines so you can use whats already there and direct the track around that.

Do you know how I can actually play it online? :yuck:
I cant see it in my lounge. Ive tried putting it on 'share with friends' and not.

hmm, didn't test yet, but i saw the my track tab and the photo album tab are the only ones highlighted in the community, for now.
My friends can look straight into my album and vice versa, same for the tracks, they can go on and test them straight away.
It's not in the lounge it's 2 tabs under that in "my community" just under "my profile".

I for one think its quite a powerful tool. ok you cant recreate your favourite real world track but with a bit of work you can come up with some pretty good results. I just hope thay add some more locations, as the ones at the momment have quite extream elevation (which is good), but it would be good to have some that are relativly flat for creating flater race circuits.

Since finding out about the track editor been included i have been excited to recreate some of my favorite karting tracks! lol! what a fool i have been its hardly a track editor is it!.What a waste of excitement!.

I have tried "share with friends" and nothing happened as well :grumpy:.
Also where is the setting to make the track point to point all I can have is closed circuits.

That's what i was wondering .

It is a good tool , tried making 1 course , mountain track with a lot of tight twists and it came out better than i thought it would , really enjoyable to drive , a bit bland that doesn't really matter.

I think that's part of the intention - Polyphony don't have the licences for some of those circuits, and they evidently don't want people creating all of them. After all, you can drive this year's Ferrari F10. If you could use the course creator to make everything from Spa to Abu Dhabi, they could be in violation of Codemasters' exclusive Formula 1 licence, and Polyphony need to respect that.

Also, course-building in the likes of rFactor is immensely complicated. You actually have to code the thing physically. It's very likely that Polyphony experimented with a genuine course creator, only to find that it was unweildly in the extreme and that it would simply put people with no knowledge of this sort of thing off.

I do believe this is the case. I read that what they originally created was (what they believed to be) far too powerful and not at all user friendly.

Would be nice to see it available as a download patch perhaps... after seeing what 3rd party mods came out for Oblivion/Fallout, its amazing how far some fans will go!!!

Also, I think a seperate PC application that compiles to PS3 format could be interesting, but I think a bit too hard to implement without it costing them money. That and those uber-fans would probably create the license protected tracks and make a little mayhem... 💡

absolutly. I think the way it is now is great and i asume that the reason for doing it the way they have is to ensure there are no buggy and problomatic tracks.

In fairness I think the Track Editor moniker was a misquote that was quickly picked up all over the internet... I've always had the impression that it was going to be exactly what it is - a random generator.

I tried it yesterday...but only in a quick way...made two courses...
the snow area is soooooo wunderfull!!! wow...

It is a little sad that you can't creat the layout 100% yourself... like drawing with a pen...

Guess I'll give it a deeper try today...

I'm wondering if anyone has found out how to use these tracks online yet?

Its a great feature even with its limitations. I cant wat to try these online.
