damn, you got me excited making me think it was the game for ps2. as for the ID the series, ide just rather get the imported japanese dvds cuz i heard about tokyopop butchering the series. i dont know wut they were thinking. and as for the paying for ID, its hard to find the good quality vids on kazaa. i found them on Overnet. more than 200 mb each ep. good quality, but i still wanna get the dvds cuz i dont like watching stuff on my comp. its uncomfortable dispite my 19" flat screen.

Regarding their names... based on statistics its mostly the Asian Americans and other anime fanatics who have heard about Initial D... 'domestic oriented' people here never put this game into interest. However, those who know Initial D already know the character names in the Japanese version. Unless it is changed specifically for the arcade stage due to programming conflicts (only six letters/characters allowed due to the card system, apparently), I still don't see why Tokyopop change their names.

Also, because the style of each langauge is different, there has to have something to compromise when something gets dubbed, whether its Deutsch, Nihongo, or Espanol. For an average American standpoint, because they have short attention spans, the script has to be changed in order to make them talk like Americans. This also means that 'silly' scenes will have to be removed.

Just my 2 cents

everything i wanna say has already been said by everyone else here. i just cant imagine Takumi drifting to rap, it just doesnt fit. and i actually like to watch it in Japanese with the English subtitles, there's more character in the voices b/c thats the way its supposed to be. i hope it doesnt get all big like that gay Pokemon crap, it would totally kill Initial D.

and drifting itself is getting bigger and bigger here in the states. i just hope those stupid ricer kids dont go out and try what they see in the videos and kill themselves or other people on the road, i can already see Honda Civics drifting around *shudders* :banghead: :odd:

Remember the licensing issues. There is ALWAYS a licensing issue when something gets dubbed. Hey Dave Rogers probably don't like to import his music to the states because the lyrics are intended for the Japanese audience AKA VERY CRAPPY.

Now in the states, EVERYONE knows rap. AzN brothas like rap. Anime freaks dont but the anime is for the Civic wanabees in the first place. Everyone can perform rap so they can buy the song cheap. Trance is expensive so Heaven and Sandstorm are out.

The main problem here, personally is the chassis code to them 'make them look smart'. To beat them down, just ask them what an open differiental is ;)

"You drift it and it drifts you~~~
I----ni----D~~~~
Ini-D! Gotta drift them all~~~ Ini-D"
ouch....

intial D shoudnt even come here. with the gay subbed english. no good at all. and then people will talk about it like nothing. eww . :banghead:

Oh god! i jsut reading these post just made me remember when it all started with Tokyopop changed the names on the manga. "come on Tak!" now the memory of seeing the english initial d comes back in mind for comic con san diego. god awful dubbing and pointless music that doesnt seem to engage me into the episode. why does takumi's english voice sound like he's going through puberty? I'd rather hear them in catanonese (i dont think i spelled that right) than in english. ooo jsut think if they brought the game here that it'll be done the same way like the soon to be coming out dvds. lol

yeah I'd agree with that, it's much better to watch the japanese version with english subtitles, their voices are original and the names are better..lol tak, cole.. thank you english dubbing

I beleive it it would be most logical to pirate the series as I have. Try Kazaa. I have every stage including the movie and extra stages on the Enterprise's computer. Hikaru (Sulu) and I ****ing love that show.

This is extremely stupid. Initial D was the start of too big of a trend anyway, everyone and their import ricer momma's "Adore" drifting now. Now that Initial D is in english, WHERE THE DUBBING WILL SUCK and you know it will, it'll be even more retarded, with nothing but stupid fanboys running around with Tofu shop shirts on. God America Sucks!

America sucks b/c drifting is catching on and Initial D is going to be dubbed in English?? glad to see you've got your priorities in order........:odd::odd: :odd:

Uhh, I just got a promotional copy of Initial D Volume One episode 2 on DVD, I'll write a review on it when I get the chance to watch! Also, like the Gundam card game, there's an Initial D card game. It seems to be similar to that.

bull man the US r goin to make anime look bad with the good stuff taken out look at dbz they took out all the blood and when a car trouble comes by there going to blame initial d

i alreadyhave the whole series i just want the video game to come out cause im tried of driving 20 miles out to play the arcade game but its soo addicting

Okay...Review of Initial D Volume One Episode 2 Promotional DVD. The dubs are okay, but the names will make EVERYONE angry! They kept the car names thankfully, and my version came with only Initial D music. My gripes with the voices-Butna, I would have him a little more gruff sounding, and Natsuki sounds a little older than the cuteness she shows onscreen.

tokyopop says that the InitialD DVDs r gonna have features where u can have the original Japanese dubs with eng subtitles, YAY

About a month ago I went out to Phoenix International Raceway. I saw a Civic hatchback out there with a D16 Engine, e-braking every corner, the best part was at the end of the day his e-brake cable snapped, I laughed so hard in his face. What a nerd

God America Sucks!

Yeah, in more ways than one. (I'm not a terrorist, don't hunt me down.)

All right. My friend actually got a hold of some American version crap of Initial D and told me the worst thing ever that I don't think has been mentioned yet. He said that the new Takumi (or Tak) has been made more COCKY. What is up with that? Plus the girls of the Sil-Eighty were made to fight with each other more. This is crazy. As if changing the tone of voice, the music, and the names wasn't enough, they just had to go mess with the personalities and story lines. Sheesh.

If I hadn't seen the series yet, then maybe I'd be excited for an anime like Initial D. But as we all know, we've all seen how great Initial D was and now it will just get really ****ed up, like Takumi's car racing against the Emperors for the first time.

American media has messed things up since Power Rangers came to be. Eeeek. They keep taking things from Japan and just making them the worst things ever to come out of television. Don't you agree? (Americanized Kenshin then says, "That I do.")

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Seriously I love America as a place/location, and I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else, besides like. Japan or Malaysia cause Drifterzzz is cool, but we do some pretty stupid crap, and we ruin alot of good things we get from other countries. Not only anime either. The 4G63T engine from japan, GREAAT engine, America gets it...And puts it in a freakin eclipse, an estrogen dripping rice magnet. Yeah some Eclipses are fast, but they're still uglah. Not to mention the crank walking issue's that they faced only on the american market......tsk tsk.. Anywho
Kenshin's lack of "oro" sucks, and kenshins "that I do" in his retarded depressed levi's commercial spokesperson voice. Yu yu hakusho atleast they left the ORIGINAL Voice actors. FLCL makes no sense in english, and Initial D(saw ONE episode in english) I swear to god it makes me want to blow up tokyopop.

Yes, I know, America is a good place to live in. But let's think about this one: if America is so great, how come it always gets second-rate isht from Asia, i.e., cars and anime? It's the best when it's still out in Japan or something, but how come whenever it comes down to U.S., every good thing gets stripped away? I heard the American version of "Ringu" does have more content though (still haven't seen it), but then "The Ring" was a copy, not an import.

Oh, and I just finished watching episodes 22-26 of stage 1 for Initial D again with the subtitles. It never gets boring. Even though one was in Mandarin, at least they were still saying the same things with equal emotions.
