Maybe not the popular vote around these parts but I'm 100% behind Hamilton. He went toe to to with Alonso last year, in the same kit, and royally kicked his ass, narrowly missing the drivers crown in his rookie season. I've heard all the excuses but, in my mind they do very little to strip the gloss.
He's made some mistakes but there's no driver, past or present who hasn't, including the legendary Senna. Hamilton now has two F1 seasons under his belt and could step onto the podium on sunday the youngest champ ever.
He's focussed, aggressive and shows moments of pure genius, especially in the wet, reminiscent of Schumacher who, up until he retired from racing, was my other favourite driver. And hamilton is still a noob! I can't wait to see his career develop over the next couple of years because, in my opinion, he's shaping up to be one of the greatest drivers that ever lived.
Okay it's still early days but winning the championship in his second year will be a major step in the right direction.
Go Lewis!
