why are there separate PAL and NTSC Time Trial standings?

i take it the reason for these separate PAL and NTSC Time Trial standings are due to some differences between the two versions that affect race times.

does anyone know what these differences are?

might have something to do with the Americans wanting? an easier run, but saying that some of the NTSC'ers are quite fast...

Time Trials are different from the Licenses. On the NTSC version, you can't turn off ASM/TCS, where as the PAL you can. TCS can be useful, but not for a whole lot of these cars, and ASM always sucks and is what really keeps NTSC users from completing faster times.

There was a lot of discussion about this matter on Wipeout boards that I used to frequent, and they said that there was something within the internal clocks in each system that actually resulted in different times for PAL users vs. NTSC users. But that's just what I heard.

This sounds like the right explanation.

I hate not being able to turn all traction contol crap off. Especially for the Complex String.
