Why do people want 0 mile cars?

Don't they know the car is faster with a few miles on it?

Speaking of that, at what point is a car fully broken in?

How long does it take the power boost from fresh GT Auto oil to wear off?

I also have my cars to drive, not to collect. So 0 miles is very rare.
Did not have the time to drive all yet though.

Its fully broken in after ~500 kms, the oil change starts wearing off immediately.

So about 310 miles. Mine are all pretty far from broken in then.

I know the oil boost starts wearing off immediately, but when is it fully gone?

And I forgot, when does the oil start to become dirty?

I don't get it either but I believe it's because a 0 miles car is rarer than all the other duplicated cars and is therefore more valuable but ironically most 0 miles cars are obtained by the birthday gift car exploit which in itself "devalued" the trading market!

Cars are for driving as well as collecting and there's always the engine and chassis restore for high mileage cars so IMO they should be used even if they are box fresh.

The oil change sends the car back up to it's maximum HP minus the power that comes from doing an engine restore, so there is no actual "boost" it just restores lost power. You could drive the car without ever changing the oil and it would probably get all the way down to 1 HP.

It might depend on the car and usage, but it's black enough on most of my race cars to change at around 400 km.

In that case, is the power statistic shown on the UCD screen low? Because I bought and restored a Tiburon Turbulence and it has an extra 6 horsepower over the statistic shown there.

My SVT Lightning is also showing an extra 16 horsepower over the UCD statistic (which I know is correct), though that might have come from being stupid and doing an oil change before the rebuild.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, if that car is showing 396 horsepower now (after an oil change/rebuild), how many miles before it's back down to 380?

Yes, I am a little OCD about this.

Cars from the UCD need an engine rebuild and oil change since the engines are worn out from driving. The power shown at the UCD is before the rebuild. For example, I bought a used rally car from the UCD last week with 283 HP, did the engine rebuild, and now its back at the original 305 HP.

If you change the oil regularly it will probably be around 3000 kms before it gets down to 380 HP and you need an engine rebuild to get it back to 396.

You arent the only one on this site :D

And I'm not sure if I am explaining this very well, there is probably other people that can explain it better.

Now I'm more confused than I already was. So 380 is actually the "worn out" power level and 396 is the actual stock, unboosted power level after break-in?

You arent the only one on this site :D

Glad to know it.

The FGT I use exclusively to grind endurance races in b-spec can't get the max 935 HP anymore, even with a full oil change and engine rebuild.

So yeah the miles make a difference in the long run. Although 0 mile / 0 km cars don't have the max HP because they aren't "broken in", they are worth more in trading since the trader who winds up getting the car can get the most mileage at the highest possible HP out of them.

EDIT: Just finished my first 24 Hour Endurance Race in B-Spec. Here are the stats:

@24,605.5 Miles my "grinding" Formula GT has:
  • 898HP (post oil change)
  • 928HP (post engine overhaul)

While my "newer" FGT purchased from the OD @3,445.0 Miles has 935 max HP w/ engine overhaul.
