Cant make it more simple.

I'm about as knowledgeable as you right now.

It's kinda hard to explain why, without offending someone lol. One of those, don't ask don't tell types of situations.

Because it sounds good. As it's B-Spec, it's B-Spec Bob. Just got a certain ring to it.

BOB= Blind
Old
Baboon

Bob-Spec?

BOB= because on bath-salts

In the interest of acronyms:
Barely
Observant
Braker

EDIT: "Bob" as a term is a mutually arbitrary pseudonym for the driver because his very identity is stooped in folklore and fantasy...Nah, actually it's just an mutally arbitrary way of putting down the old fellow as if to say "he's just, well, Bob."

B.O.B. = Boring Old B*stards ... Not the most fun aspect of GT5 really.

Or,

Blind Old B*stards ... because they always run into other cars and stuff.

What you said in the edit was pretty much dead on....."it's just an mutally arbitrary way of putting down the old fellow as if to say "he's just, well, Bob.".

I knew it would come out lol.
