Why do you play GT5 and not another racing game?

For me, it is the driving experience and the surprise of handling a newly acquired car. Take that '74 Lambo Countach, for example. I was so excited to pick up that classic in the OCD, but it is such a pig to drive. It will go off the slab at the slightest twitch while braking. I have tuned (thankful for the input of the community members here), and re-tuned that car, and she still shows me no love…BUT that is what I love about this game. I love that there are both angels and demons. It really helps to submerge me into the experience.

Also, PD adding the Top Gear test track to GT5 was a very nice move … I am the Stig!

No other racing game on the PS3 can match it in my opinion, and there's really no other racing game in general like it, but some of it is just loyalty from playing way back on the first Playstation console. :p

I completely agree with this and will just add my two cents. I own PS3 now and have owned Playstation 1 and 2. Gran Turismo is the pedigree of racing games for not only Sony game systems, but for all systems. Only recently has Forza come up as a contender for a simulation game (3 and 4). I have never played Forza but I have seen it and it does look great. I can't bad mouth it, that's for sure. I will say that, as an American, it would be easy to justify buying an Xbox and Forza. I would be supporting my country and playing a good game. The reality of it, is that I've been hooked to this game since GT2 for Playstation 1 and that is why I bought GT5. I also couldn't justify buying an Xbox 360 just for Forza 3 or 4.

My love for the series resulted for one reason: Not only could I race real life cars, but I could modify and tune them. This put GT aside from all the other games. When I was young I played F-Zero on Super Nintendo and RPM Racing. I also played NFS for Playstation and although it was awesome running from cops in real cars, I couldn't mod them up like Gran Turismo. That became my defining reason for needing this game.

I do envy a few things that Forza has, which is more American cars, more American tracks and the ability to swap drivetrains. Gran Turismo's utilization of these features would make the game a complete home run for me personally. I am entirely happy and satisfied with GT5 and aside from the 60 GT-Rs, no drag track and the horrible sound track, I have nothing bad to say.

Plus, Forza 3 and 4 has a 1987 Pontiac GTA! .

I dont play any of them

No, they just spin you out or did they fix it?

I literally played it for about a week and got bored with it. The sound is better but still very lacking, the customizations are the same stage 1 2 and 3 that they've always been with some pretty pictures added. The car painting is ridiculous etc etc. The game feels very unfinished and some things about are just downright annoying. Standard cars and the painting for example. Lets give then an options to paint their cars, but lets make it overly complicated and a huge PITA to use.

I'm done with it. Xbox360 and Forza 4 for me.

The way I see it is,Forza 4 is fun and the tuning is more in depth and driving is more fun and GT5 is more serious and therefore in my oppinion at least more rewarding when you achieve something, and B spec is like teaching a team of drivers to win when you don't have the time to sit and race yourself. Also as I previously said GT5 is a collectors game too,the standard cars thing I totally agree with but I guess they didn't have the time to premium-ise all of them.:grumpy: but they should at least let us change/paint the rims on standard cars.In short(late maybe) I will continue to enjoy both games frequently.👍 also NFS Run is a complete waste of time. /Mini Rant.;)

Because I've been a huge fan of GT games since GT1 :) and because I don't have any other racing games at the moment :dunce:

I play everything, from NFS to Call of Duty. I don't like fanboys saying this is better than that, or whatever. I have a lot of consoles(my Atari 2600 and NES still works!) and for me, games are nothing to brag about, so GT5 just happens to be one of the games I put a lot of my time into.

Yeah, agreed with that almost whole heartedly,I play alot of non-racers too.👍

I've literally grown up with Gran Turismo as my link to the automotive world. It's like the stuffed animal you never want to part with, your just attached to it. Thus, I play GT instead of other games, mainly due to the history I've had with the game, and I simply can not stand the physics in other games. I can never get used to them.
