He actually did me proud just now. For the first time.

When I checked up on him, he was third in the 4 Hour Roadster endurance race, with 7 minutes to go. The car in first had a 44 sec. lead.
I went on to watch TV, and when I checked again, the race was over and Bob actually took first place.

God job, Bob! 👍

Mine doesn't suck, if you look up one of the many B-Spec guides here, you'll see where you're going wrong (Like I did)

He's like a dog, there are no bad dogs, just illinformed owners.

apparently 'overtake' actually means 'drive into someones trunk while yielding track position to other racers' :dunce:

my favorite is 'oh god we're going too fast in a straight line, slam the brakes!' my drivers are particularly bad about this one with the escudo. regardless of gearing, as soon as they hit 220mph they slam the brakes and drop it back to 200. (who needs boost, right? just dump all that power into the atmosphere every 5 seconds) very aggravating when trying to pass race cars.

my girlfriend drives better than my B spec drivers, and that's saying something. FWIW my B spec is lvl 26, premiere driver is also lvl 26.

Give him the x1, he won't have a problem then!

I want racing, not walk overs. I just put my best driver round indy and he punched in a 48.083 on racing hard tyres at full "increase pace or it's fernando is faster than you" time.

This bob spec is chosen for his high cornering abilty (back when he was a sperm) and low braking abilty. At 24 class he really knows how to brake and cornering is way off his "to do" list.

I ran the same track (indy) with identical setup (tyres, gearing, downforce and brake bias) and I murdered him by over 6 secs a lap, more to the point I held that gap on nearly every lap.

Bob-spec is broken, I know it can be fun and occasionally bob will deliver but it is properly broken, if any racing driver amateur or otherwise braked from 220mph down to 140mph on indy with cars directly behind he would be black flagged for brake testing.

rabble rabble /end rant...for now...

:)

Try giving him the maintain command through those areas. I didn't have this issue at Daytona using this command.

P.S. He sucks because you don't love him and he knows it. :)

I think a B-Spec driver will be better at overtaking cars if you weaken the brakes. For the Roadster race I set the brake bias to 1 at the front and rear, and he went straight to the front with few problems. :)

G.Pace, J.Day, S.Chiba, and P.Townsend are awesome with little to no intervention from me, regardless of their car or their competition's. You must be doing something wrong.

ok, a few of you are convinced there is nothing wrong. Please post screen shots of your bob doing a 42.000 on racing hard around indy.

If he can do that I accept the fanboys win. Until then bob sucks.

Always makes me smile how mushrooms are kept in the dark, fed **** and never complain :)

B-Spec is fine. Any failure on the part of the B-Spec driver falls squarely on the shoulders of the B-Spec director, ie. the player. Yes, the player in the same car can put down a faster lap -- they had better -- that does not mean B-Spec is broken.

There are a myriad threads about B-Spec and how to succeed with it. If the player cannot consistently win races, with only having to issue four simple commands, it is they who are broken.

Mine are Fine there all getting near Level 30 now so there quite old

I've Actually just Treated them (ok and myself) to a Nissan R92CP Race Car , they've Put well over 8.000 Miles on my Minolta Toyota without a Single Loss in Any Race 👍

Cause B-Spec sucks and who cares?

YOU are going to care unless you plan on driving 24-hour races all by your lonesome. In GT4, I used to put Bob in the car after I'd raced as much as I felt like doing, and woke up the next morning to find a win and 1 million credits. Of course, in goofed-up GT5, you're going to need a 20-million credit car to do that in . . .

That Minolta Toyota was an awesome sleeper of a car in GT4. I can't remember how many times I used Bob to run the 6-hour(?) race at Fuji -- now there's an over-rated track, in real life, too -- and I made a fortune in prize credits and selling the Nissan Le Mans bonus car. I'm still trying to figure out how to get decent race cars -- all that GT5 really recognizes, more's the pity -- when it's taken me 19 levels to get the first million credits.

mine doesnt know where to overtake

he goes to the left, then the right, then the left again, he attempts to overtake on the right but brakes while doing it and the cycle starts again

So here is a thought, maybe there is some criteria when choosing a driver that half of us are just not getting right? I mean if you want to say those who are not happy just don't know how to issue 1 of 6 commands I would have to say there is probably something else wrong...I know there are people who will have problems but I just can't see half the field clicking pit in every lap.

Going to retire some of my retar...drivers and have a play...half the internet can't be wrong especially when the other half don't think so either...

:)

I've noticed this on some of my drivers aswell with a slight difference:
The AI moves over to prevent the attack and my Bob passes on the other side.
So he's actually setting them up.

My bob thinks that when I tell him to pit once, he must do it every lap after wards and therefore lose a 30 second lead. Way to go bob!!!!!
