I already know that. But how many do you think can really acheive that? GT 5 is supposed to be a game for every hardcore car guys, not a game for a few gifted.
What? I already got all golds with a wheel. I just wanted to see how difficult it is with a pad. And I'm telling you difference is huge.
I understand your point:
Yes, the target times are easier to achieve with a driving wheel than with the DS3 controller. This is true of any race in the game as a driving wheel allows for a finer degree of control. Nothing worth noting here. This challenge is not unique in that respect.
The point I think you're missing is that this is supposed to be the ultimate car and (I don't think it's an exaggeration to say) this challenge is the ultimate skill test in the game.
It's supposed to be hard. Not everyone is supposed to be able to get a gold. Even with a driving wheel. They created a car that's difficult to drive and set the bar for achieving the gold very high. And that's that. It's been done, so it's clearly possible. It's just difficult. Stop overthinking it.
👍It's a driving simulator. I'm not sure about your car, but mine doesn't use a DS3 to control it...
So you are saying, it's ok to be unfairly hard for DS3 users whom are likely most buyers of this game.
Wasted 30 seconds of my life reading that. Thanks.
Ok, recently I've been trying the Vettel challange again, this time with DS3. Because so many of you here were saying how difficult it is with a pad, I had to try and see. And I'm 100% sure, none of those who made this game tested it with DS3 before launch, especially when it comes to the Vettel challenge. Doesn't matter how you can get used to a pad, you can never finish two consecutive successful labs because your fingers get tired and really heart, especially your left thumb. Steering response and throttle adjustment can never be as accurate, quick and smooth as with a wheel. With a pad, I could only bronze them at my best. If I compare level of difficulty, I'll say getting bronze with a pad is like getting silver with a wheel. Considering most of us have DS3 only, this challenge shouldn't be in the game. This is a disaster. All companies put their pre-products on all kinds of tests so that they can correct any potential problems before they bring them out to the market. And PD didn't do what is so basic. Now with the 1.06 updates, PD increased bronze time a lot. And what's next? Increasing gold time to bronze time? Is this their way of admitting mistakes? I'm not even sure what they've been doing for the last five god damn years. I see a decade of reputation fading away at once.
So what you are saying is that a game is a FAIL because of one challenge?
Wow, so because you fail that means the game fails? Sorry but not everything is a "gimme" in life. I earned my X2010 by getting all bronze and I'm proud of it!
Look at Warcraft, only a few people will ever have the chance to own a Legendary weapon and I don't hear a single complaint about Blizzard failing for making something rare that is hard to achieve.
Chalk this one up as a life lesson and play another game (not Warcraft).
Yeah, GT5 is a complete failure just because you can't get gold in the hardest challenge in the game.

No, he's saying the game is an epic fail because HE couldn't do it.![]()
Ok, many of you simply don't seem to be understanding my situation. I'm not whining because I'm a DS3 user. I already got all golds with a wheel. I just wanted to see how hard it can be with a pad and found out that it's million times harder than with a wheel. If PD knew this before the release of GT 5, I'm sure they wouldn't have set such a hard time for DS3 users, meaning they haven't tested it with DS3 before releasing. It's a huge mistake.
Epic fail because of the Vettel Challenge?
I will never drive the X1 nor test out the Vettel Challenge, because I hate both. But that´s no reason to call GT5 an epic fail.
No, I'm saying it's not about being "fair". You're getting hung up on the idea that it should be "fair". There's no "fair", it's a driving simulation. In this case, a simulation of driving an almost impossibly fast car. Trying to do that with tiny little analog joy sticks will of course be hard. It'd be ridiculous for it NOT to be hard. Nothing fair or unfair about it.

Again, just because YOU can't do it, doesn't mean others can't. I use both the wheel and the DS3, I am equally fast (or suck) at both. I am actually faster with the DS3 in some situation. I gold most licenses with a DS3.
You are the epic fail.
I never said others can't do it. However compare to wheel users, those finishing the Vettel challenge with all golds will be quite small in ratio. You might have different opinions. But that doesn't mean you can call me an epic fail.
It has to be fair since all of us paid same money for the game. Problem with the Vettel challenge is that target times are set for wheel users not DS3 users. The 1.06 updates clearly proves that PD sees time set in the Vettel challenge as a mistake to correct.
And just because you can't finish a challenge which others can, that doesn't mean you can call the game an epic fail![]()

Ouch. All right, my topic was quite a bit harsh. I admit that. But still, my points stand clear. Target times in the Vettel challenge were set for wheel users not DS3 users, being quite unfair for the latter. Furthermore, it means they haven't tested the game with DS3 at the average level most buyers play. That is a hugh mistake.

No, life isn't fair, are you just learning this? A blind guy will probably never gold this challenge, is that fair? Someone with no hands may never gold this, is that fair? The only way to make it completely fair is to not make the game at all and give everyone the same chance of (not) doing something.
Otherwise, there will always be inequalities. One of those inequalities is that using a driving wheel makes driving easier than using joystick controllers. That's reality.
If you can't deal with challenges in life without immediately responding to them by saying "that's not fair!"...well, I'd stay home. And off of your Playstation.
