I actually think a lot of the licence tests are too easy, and had assumed it was to accommodate DS3 users. I just accepted it as the way it was, and tried to make it harder for myself (ABS off).

To say they never tested it with a DS3 is total crap, otherwise problems would be cropping up everywhere. They obviously took a conscious decision to make the Vettel Challenge hard, because it is the ultimate challenge in the game.

To appease the whingers, they increased the Bronze time. That alone does not demonstrate that PD didn't test the game properly, and it certainly doesn't show that it's "unfair" - just that a vocal group clearly thought it was, but that's not surprising, really...

LOL, sorry I'm 35 and I've already learned everything you said quite a long time ago. But this is just a game. It shouldn't be about ineaulities. Mass buyers are DS3 users. Everything has to be focused on them when making games.

Okay, honestly man, I'm 29 (turning 30 in a few weeks) and I tried the X2010 challenge on DS3. It sucked. I started getting frustrated. I'm going to try again later, try messing with sensitivity settings, etc. If I absolutely can't do it with controller, maybe I'll use that as an excuse to get a wheel? I dunno.

This is what I want though. I want to be challenged. Much of the game allows you to just dominate if you want. A FR with 300HP opponents...you want to show up in a 458 Italia and take a 15 second lead before the first lap is over? Go right ahead. It forces you to use self control on your part to create a challenge (which I try and do).

This is different though, this actually forces you to put every ounce of concentration into controlling a ridiculously fast car. If you're doing this with handheld controllers, it just requires that much more concentration. There's no need to lower the bar just to make it easier (i.e. - more fair) for the DS3 guys.

Your logic is flawed by the way. The content of the game is not dictated by the buyers, the buyers should be dictated by the content of the game. Otherwise every game would be non-offensive, washed out, and bland in an attempt to satisfy the "average" user. Game makers are free to make games however they choose, and then the market decides to reward or punish them by buying or not buying the game.

PD wants this to be realistic and challenging. Realistically, not all drivers are equal. This means "fair" does not play into PD's model. Some people will just not be as fast as others. Some people will not get golds. This is how the game is because this is how life is. Like I said earlier, fairness should not be a consideration. The less uncompromising this game is the better. 👍

No duh it's easier with a wheel cause they probably did it it like that so that people would go get a wheel and they get a certain percentage of the money when someone purchases one...it's all for money my friend.

Ok, recently I've been trying the Vettel challange again, this time with DS3. Because so many of you here were saying how difficult it is with a pad, I had to try and see. And I'm 100% sure, none of those who made this game tested it with DS3 before launch, especially when it comes to the Vettel challenge. Doesn't matter how you can get used to a pad, you can never finish two consecutive successful labs because your fingers get tired and really heart, especially your left thumb. Steering response and throttle adjustment can never be as accurate, quick and smooth as with a wheel. With a pad, I could only bronze them at my best. If I compare level of difficulty, I'll say getting bronze with a pad is like getting silver with a wheel. Considering most of us have DS3 only, this challenge shouldn't be in the game. This is a disaster. All companies put their pre-products on all kinds of tests so that they can correct any potential problems before they bring them out to the market. And PD didn't do what is so basic. Now with the 1.06 updates, PD increased bronze time a lot. And what's next? Increasing gold time to bronze time? Is this their way of admitting mistakes? I'm not even sure what they've been doing for the last five god damn years. I see a decade of reputation fading away at once.

I dont agree. GT5 is a HUGE fail but there are much more things that make this game FAIL. It would be too simple too say that just because of this challenge this game sucks. I could've been so much more. I remember all the fanboys saying it would BLOW FORZA out of the water.

Just because people cannot do the Vettel Challenge doesn't cause the game to "fail"... but how is PD suppose to create a driving simulator for a controller... sorry but I haven't seen real cars with DS3 controllers instead of a wheel... 💡

buy a wheel - problem solved

Exactly.

People who are complaining about how "it's hard with a controller" wah wah . You bought a driving simulator, says so on the cover of the game. You really expected to be able to perform to the degree of a wheel and pedals without one? Wah wah all the way home.

Guess you shoulda bought Mod Nation Racers.

OP's face after 'epic fail'...

Relax, I don't meme it; it's only for the lolz :dopey:

Also lack of epic cars NOT included in this FANTASTIC 1000 car Carlist. Just redicolous.

Just too name a few.

Nice! You have just confirmed what I have been debating. I am now purchasing FM3 and the XCM F1 converter (to use the DFGT on my 360). This will complete my cross platform racing addiction. My 360 has collected enough dust.

So you did it with a wheel, then went back to do it with a D-pad and since you think it is harder you now think this game is a FAIL?

Well I use a D-pad and have used a D-pad since late December and I don't have a problem, I have unlocked the Vettel challenge but really have no true interest since it is a "fictional" car.

Sounds like you wanted to find something to complain about and if this is your complaint, that you manufactured, this is quite sad.

Well, you have a point, but nobody is forcing you to do them. One event only doesn't mean the entire game is an "epic fail".

The game doesn't fail to suck...

Epic success!

You just have to look at the glass differently.

(Not referring to the DS3/Vettel thing, though, just the game in general)

Yep, Gt5 has lost it's league in cars, but in terms of driving I prefer GT5.. Especially because the physics in GT5 are just a tad better, and well... Compared to a G25, the XBOX360 wireless wheel is crap.

But Id really like to see:

I just can't get why manufacturers choose T10 over PD, except when it's all about money of course.. But even then, GT5 had nearly unlimited budget I guess, since they already spent 60million..

But heck, we can only wait for some DLC or GT6.. But I'm afrsaid I'm done with this game in about 2-3 months from now, while I'm not near the 'finish'-line of Forza3..

Got suckered into this thread by the over exaggerated title! I know I'm getting old when I read the OP and responses in this thread and couldn't care less about the infantile logic behind the insult-slinging. But I am appalled at the use of the English language! I know all the kids today are using the word "EPIC" in so many new and colourful ways, kind of like "RADICAL" & "GNARLY" in the 80s.
I, for one, have not golded the Vettel challenge yet. I may never. I appreciate that it's in the game, though. Isn't it better to have options for both hard-core and casual gamers?
Your post is called "Why GT 5 is an epic fail". The gold on Suzuka is 2:10 and under, and apparently possible with a DS3 - hardly EPIC.
This thread is epic though...
Bye!

Quit complaining bronze times have been increased by 10seconds, and there is controller sensitivity now

Whats wrong with getting a cheap wheel?

Calling an inanimate object an epic fail is totally incomparable to calling a human being an epic fail. You better learn that, either.

Object and human can both fail. Since you started this epic fail thread, one can only assume...

Talk about self-entitlement.

Let's get this straight:

a) You managed to pass this challenge? Check
b) You received the bonus for doing so? Check
c) You had a more trouble than wheel users in doing so and probably wont get a gold? Check

How is this any different from any challenge, ever? Just because you can't do it doesn't mean anything in the long-run. Get better at the game. You might have a valid point if it was somehow impossible for a pad user to get a gold...but the fact of the matter is that it is possible and that's it - how much more difficult is really moot. Oh and you might have paid the same for the game, but others have spend upwards of the price of a PS3 extra to get their wheel. So what if that gives them an advantage? Actually, the most pertinent question is: So what if you can't get Gold?

All I can really say to you is, like the others who got Gold with a DS3, is: Practice. Get better.

This is possibly the most inane complaint about GT5 I've seen...and there's been some doozies on here.

I already know that. But how many do you think can really acheive that? GT 5 is supposed to be a game for every hardcore car guys, not a game for a few gifted.

How many people are gonna get platinum?
How many people actually have the time to do the 24hr races?

Is GT5 the only game with challenges that will probably be only completed by the super hardcore? No.

Just 'cause you bought the game doesn't mean you automatically have the ability to unlock everything in it. That's the point of games with things to unlock, you unlock the stuff. You want it all given to you? Go buy an unlock pack for an EA game.

If it was easy, there'd be no point in it at all.

And if you're argument is against the advantage of a wheel vs a DS3 then that also isn't a good point.

The advantage of an HDTV vs an SDTV is massive, the advantage of a faster internet speed is massive, heck, surround sound (or really good headphones) give a great advantage in plenty of games.

Guess what, I've only got one of the above and that's the TV (32" Sanyo, not very impressive) All those things that give you an advantage cost money, you can live without them and you can even do very well without them. But if you want them, you gotta break out the wallet or credit card.

How any of this makes GT5 and "Epic fail" I'll never know.

How many people are gonna get platinum?
How many people actually have the time to do the 24hr races?

How many more people are going to create threads saying "GT5 sucks", "GT5 FAIL" or "GT5 is stupid"?

Lot more than those who get platinums, I bet.

Locked. Thread is an epic fail. Take it to the "disappointed in GT5" thread.
