Why I think the stock Corvette C6 ZR1 is the best car in the game.

Okay go try it with sports hard and come back and share your epiphany then.. because the title is misleading.. it says stock.

Edit: It is not my opinion but FACT that your entire first post has nothing to do with the title of the thread, therefor your opinion is entirely off topic in your own thread and not about a stock zr1 c6 but a zr1 c6 with sports soft tires.. in fact, the title should be "My opinion on the Corvette C6 ZR1 with sports soft tires, by Magneto" if you really wanted to post something like this...... in my opinion

Noted and ignored.

Well, its a great car, but I don`t understand what you want to say us with "best car in the game".
How do you define best?

I define best with performance and most race cars perform better then supercars in this game.

Best performing road car in the game? Perhaps, eventhough I think that a 458 Italia can match it.

btw: I understand what you want to describe. I get the same feelings with driving my stock F430 (not the scud) in this game. Its just a great car, it may lack power, but it has great grip, traction etc.

It's the car I think is most fun to drive. Most cars that are just fun to drive aren't always very fast, but I think the ZR1 is. I don't expect people to agree, this is just my opinion. If I really want to race to win I have many other cars that will win more easily. Cars with more grip, less weight or more power. But I just like the way the ZR1 feels and the fact that it's kinda tricky to get along with at times, it's a challenge and I like it.

I agree, the stock F430 is actually a very fun drive. My F430 is also stock.

I might disagreew with you, but I won't make fun of your thread. YOu have explained yourself thoroughly and I very much respect your opinion. Excellent reasons to love a car are the sentimental values you uphold towards your vehicle in GT5. That is what I love. Thank you.

Horses for courses, I'd say. While ZR-1 works well on tracks where it can stretch it's long legs, it's not so well suited for tighter tracks.

No offense meant, but driving cars on Sports Soft is too easy.

It actually makes huges heaps of difference, and I've experienced it with the 458 Italia, the Gallardo, the SLS, the GT-R, the Murcielago SV, etc. When talking about road cars the difference between the so called "stock" tyres and Sports Soft is enough to render a "Bad" car "Good". Sure, there are some cars which are too awful on this "stock" tyres to be logical, like in the case of the Murcielago SV, which means real cars should have better tyres than this, but in most cars changing this tyres means making the drive too easy to be believable.

I've only driven the ZR-1 and I hated it. Since I drove it a short distance, I'm not saying my opinion is definitive. However, I hated it's understeer-blast oversteer antics because I tried it on Sports Hard tyres. Try driving the car again with this tyres and let me know what you think of it now ;).

In my humble opinion, the Viper SRT-10 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. It has awesome acceleration, good brakes, it's very precise at a corner entry, allows for some easy manageable mid-corner throttle steer, and has great exit speed out of corners. Looks and sounds astonishingly as well. And that being on Sport Hard tyres on the Nordschleife 👍.

Completely agree here, though I took the liberty of modifying your comment to remove the ZR-1 bits ;). If I may touch the F430 subject, I reccomend driving the SP1. It has the same sublime and otherwordly driving dynamics and soundtrack but looks even better. Mine's painted in Azzuro (Ferrari blue) and looks awesome, and it's lovely around the 'Ring as well.

I have and still do drive it on sport hard tires when needed. I honestly don't think it's bad at all with sport hards. It's a matter of opinion, like I've said a million times by now, and opinions are not objective they are subjective.

Personally I have trouble liking the Vipers for one very simple reason. The lazy throttle response and the pathetically low redline. But that's what you get when you convert an over capacity truck diesel engine to petrol and stick it in a sporty shell. The ACR is however awesome enough for me to ignore the stupid engine and just enjoy the car.

Ohhh no worries, I'm not arguing with this. I'm just giving my opinion, not aiming to discredit yours or change it for an objective and undeniable truth 👍.

Well, usually I drive my F430 with comfort/soft tires, now I tested sport/soft like you did with your ZR1 and... damn, this car has amazing grip.
It almost felt like my (modificated) 458 on racing/softs.

If you want to have fun, do this:

Take your Zr1 to the nordschleife, use any non racing tire you want, turn HUD off (believe, it makes so much more fun without it), increase the volume and enjoy it :)
(another suggestion: the Enzo with a racing exhaust... great car to drive + awesome engine sound)

Never tested the SP1. Just think it's a bit too expensive for basically being a sleeker looking F430. But I may have to buy one once I start earning cash online again.

It's the car I think is most fun to drive.
This is pretty much why people posted what they did. It's not a performance-oriented test with results from comparing other cars in it's price/performance range. Rather, it's a post of opinion.

In that sense, the 458 Italia will likely leave the ZR1 behind with the same tires and same driver. As a Nurburgring fan, I find the 458 so much faster and confidence-inspiring than the ZR1. As a drifter, the ZR1 is quite obviously one of the best.

I usually race in cockpit view with the HUD off. Since some cars don't have lights in their instruments all the time it's almost the same I guess. I always use the HUD online though just to be safer and faster :)

True, I think maybe I should change the title to "Why I think the stock ZR1 is the best car in the game". I too noticed someone talking about getting more performance for my money, but money was never mentioned in the original post. Hell, I own a mint condition 1984 E24 BMW M635CSi in real life and for what I paid for it I could have kept the E46 M3 I had before it. The E46 would kill the old E24 on a track, but the old M6 gives me more joy than the M3 ever did.

On the sport-hards I find the LF-A frustrating to drive. Pushes too much. Sport soft though, and it awakens. Totally neutral in the corners. Dab of throttle and it will step the back out, but it's always catchable. The car feels so light, despite its heft. Just did the Nurburgring 4-hour with a stock LF-A (on racing medium) Great fun. I only wish that race had time/weather change :(

edit: if there was a rep system on this site, I'd give you +rep for your M635. Great car that. Any clips/photos?

Yeah, most "super" cars do well on sport softs when stock. Though some of them really need racing hards to come alive.

Yes I do have pictures, and since this is my thread I'm gonna spam it with a few pics of the M635CSi:

It only has one owner before me. And covered a total of 67.000km since 1984. Came with original metric BBS wheels. But new tires for those cost a fortune. So I'm looking to score a set of 17 inch BBS RS wheels this summer.

For me the best stock car in GT5 is the BMW M3 CSL

On sport hard tires at "The Ring" it is absolutely amazing

I agree that it's awesome. But I race almost exclusively in cockpit view, so no standards for me. The standard cars just remind me of the slap in the face PD has given us.

I also rarely drive standard cars because of the missing cockpit view but I have made an exception for this car, it is just too good…

I rely hope that it, along with many other standard cars will be update to premium status SOON! (Although I doubt anything “big” will ever be added to GT5)

Sadly I don't think so either. I still hope PD will give us some DLC, even if I have to pay for it. More premiums and all the old tracks from GT4 would be nice. But when Forza4 comes out I'll move on from GT5. Just as I'll move on from Forza12 when GT6 comes out. LoL

I race modified miy ZR1. It's very enjoyable and I might put it in the top-10. I have found that it has the worse understeer of any of the cars I've driven and takes a lot longer to break than comparable cars. I have the brakes set at 6/8. But even with the problems I'd still classify the "enjoyment" of driving it top 10!

I haven't tried to RM a ZR1. But I did RM the first Z06 I bought and that car is a joy to drive. However my favourite RM car has to be the Suzuki Cappuccino. The thing looks seriously cool. Mine is orange with PP475 and comfort softs. A blast around short twisty tracks.

i also enjoy running stock cars but it was actually this years gt academy that got me interested by driving the stock 370z on comfort med's felt like such a balanced car. if you late breaked it understeered, over steered exiting a corner and a very nice line in between. since then i have bought the 370z in stock form. love it
