Why do they keep delaying anyway??
Perfection requires time.
Just look at what happened when MS forced Turn 10's hand too early.

Could be.... could be they bit off more than they realized, could be that they are responding to the competition and need time to beef up their product, could be any number or combination of thigs.

Well as far as 1.5 frames of youtube quality video, captured by camcorder pointed at the screen goes it was pretty much ... nothing. I'll pass judgement on the damage when I actually see some![]()
You don't beef up your product a few months before release. That's not how it works. The only thing you do at this point is testing and bug fixing.
If you're adding features now, you're doing it wrong. I doubt PD doesn't know how it must be done.
I don't think I get your point... sure the last few weeks/months should be bug testings and working out the kinks but if you push back release on a product to add new features to compete with the competition, how does that change anything?
For example lets assume, Forza comes out in Oct, PD decides to add new features then which they think will take 4 months. Features are added and then march and april are spent finalizing and bug testing...
Then if it turns out the added features you wanted to put in are harder than you thought and you bit off more than you expected, maybe that would push it out even longer. Maybe it's a combination of both (maybe they were already behind and took the opportunity when Forza came out to make the most of an already impending delay and add more to it while finishing up stuff old stuff that was harder than they thought).
I am not sure what you are pointing out that wasn't basically what I said...
Oh, right.People bought it and are playing it at this exact moment.
And also constantly complaining about how buggy and rushed it is (See official Forza forums for a good laugh).
Moreover, the only feature I feel Forza 3 has that's very important, and that GT doesn't have, is the livery editor. So there's no reason for PD to go "we need that! Let's delay this!" (hypothetic scenario), since the livery editor has been there since Forza 1.
To be honest, I think this is one of the things fans make up just to find an explanation on why GT5 was "delayed", no matter if plausible or not.
We saw damage a long time ago, over a year ago iirc. It was first shown at E3 during the first official GT5 video albeit it was shown as a propsective look of what damage could be through a pre-rendered scene rather than in game damage. But damage was confirmed back then. Then at TGS damage was show in game, so no the decision to include damage was not taken at TGS since a: we'd seen it long before the show in question and b: to have had it at that show means that they must have decided to implement it and had worked to implement it prior to the show. All we do know concerning damage is that after the TGS show Kazzy said that that damamge was a work in progress. In later interviews he said damage was included largly to appease fans who were demanding it, but the decision to include it must go back a couple of years at least and most probably further since they would have needed to have known that the WRC cars doors and bumpers were going to be ableto come off prior to modelling the cars.
Does anyone when it's coming out? i've read it's March. Any help? also, i don't have GT5P, only GT4. Is there like an upload option where you can upload your videos onto Youtube or something?
I am not sure why it would not be plausible...
I'm talking about why Forza 3 didn't "delay" GT5. Damage was there since Forza 1, so it's not a plausible explanation that after seeing Forza 3's damage, PD would go "let's delay GT5 to get damage". It doesn't make sense.
Damage was planned for some cars since way back when.
The damage to production cars being an addition seems to fit in very well in the timeline of F3 hitting apparently strong, press and fan response to GC demo without damage...
Especially considering insider docs and all the other stuff GTP had posted to news that pointed solidly to an xmas 09 release it all fits together very well as a hoped 09 xmas release, a final testing of the waters which made KY and PD reacess their situation and push back release to add/polish features.
This is a tipical japanese attitude towards competition. I know what I'm talking, since I work with a big Japanese company directly having their goods into my country.
They set a goal in their mind which only accounts for their own personal views or home market. Everyone else outside of their territory either have it the way they want or either don't have it. It's not until after they start loosing their "realm" (market) that they do get aware that someting is wrong for them to be loosing share or their competitors gaining a wider market.
European/American companies have a slightly different approach: they understand that they cannot impose in a country what does fit their own. Each market has its particularities and demands.
PD & KY had set the standard. Undoubtedly. Their error was believing that it was something granted for sure. It isn't. The competition is bigger and better than ever. They (GT) still have the far-better looking graphics and wider car base but while they believe this "package" would be suffice to assure them the inquestionable leadership, others prefer to focus on the attributes that KY had neglected: the driving physics, the feedback, the realism of damage, breakdowns, weather effects, etc.
Now he realizes what he was wrong about. That's why we still don't have the game, and we will probably won't have it for a long time yet.
I only hope its worth it Mr. Kazunori.
Replays have always been Gran Turismo's crowning glory. No other console game looks so convincing in the way the cars behave, and the camera angles really are second to none (would be nice to choose which ones to use though, iirc there's usually about 3 "sets" which cycle as the laps tick by). Even with inferior graphics, these qualities would still remain.
Never has there been a series of games where the replays are so worth watching. I remember being amazed at split screen races watched full screen, that was a great touch.
30fps in the final thing would be a bit of a disappointment, though.
(my bolding)
Pardon my ignorance (I am still a relative newb to GT4) - but how does one set a full screen replay from 2-play split screen?? I'm sure I remember this in earlier GT, but I can't figure out how to do it in GT4![]()
