and i assure you i'll beat you on any track you choose.

This kind of thing generally irks me.

You have no clue who SirBerra is. He has no clue who you are. Comparing your driving ability in such an absolute fashion when you have no reference point but how good you think you are is one of the most irritating and simply foolhardy things anyone can do on the internet.

I mean he might be Scott Speed for all you know.

Oh right. Good point.

One of the funniest things I've read for a while

Oh, and...

CJ350
Hmm, well, we have a few F-1's

No. You have one F1 right now, whether you're talking about drivers or circuits - same as Australia.

This could be a good conversation about quality tracks that are missing from GT, although it probably belongs in the GT5 wishlist thread, so let's not turn it into a mutual slating :)

ok so what about all the "classics" the XU1, the Phase III GT, basically all the cars that were designed and made for australian people, though a lot of them were specifically made for bathurst.
The what? And what?

The Phase III GT was a Ford Falcon that had 351 windsor, that put out bucket loads of power and was the undisputed (but widely argued) king of the aussie roads. there was a Phase IV planned but never made because it was considered to fast and therefore dangerous. unfortunate:grumpy: . the XU1 was a holden equivelent that was supposed to be faster. i personally disagree. in summary they were some of the greatest the muscle cars of australia.👍

Small block 351 windsor is one of the better Ford engines over here. Rates close to the 289/302 for popularity among gearheads. I like it much better than the 351 cleveland.

👍 yep:tup: the windsor is a great engine, ford coupled it with a great box as well. although i'm not sure of what it was, still it made the GT a formidable car (cops had no chance):sly:

All Aussie muscle cars were pretty much dropped at that time, not just Phase IV.

XU1 was never supposed to be a real direct equivelent, it was a much lowered powered 6 cylinder Holden Torana.

Does anyone know who Peter Brock is?

Well he's probably the greatest Australian racing driver ever, but he died today in a tarmac rally when his car hit a tree. He was 61 years of age.

RIP Peter Brock, Aussie racing legend. King of Mount. Bathurst. :(

I'm sure all of us Aussies is well aware of Brocky, a thread about his death has been made here

I was just looking for that link

When did koala bears start racing cars? Why would they need tracks? The Road Warrior just used an abandoned highway to try and outrun The Mighty Humongous.

Sorry, but we Americans don't know too much about racing that goes on in Australia. Do they really have major tracks down there? It sure would be out of the way to hold a Series race in Australia. Gasoline must be crazy expensive for racing.

the kangaroos cant thats for sure, you know the GTO (thanks australia, your welcome:) )
like say the indy on the gold coast?

Well, that's two well known Aussies who have died within one month. It just had to be September as well, which is seemingly becoming associated with death.

Condolences,

FormulaGT

All this talk of koalas and kangaroos reminds me of another driver killed a few years ago, Peter "Possum" Bourne, the New Zealand rally driver.

Umm, what's a whinger, and what's an astonomy? I thought Aussie's spoke english?

Whinge is a word that means to complain or whine, usually reserved for English tourists or immigrants to former colonies, when complaining about the lack of civilisation or service, hench the term 'whinging poms'. :)

If there are any race courses in Australia, Great Britian, or anywhere that you'd like in the GT series, I highly suggest you check This Thread out.

Lol that car is terrible, in fact Ford is terrible
BRING IN BROCKY'S BATHURST WINNING MONARO!!!!

Your right. Ford is terrible :sly: . But if you do want to drive an 2003 XR8, try Juiced 👍 . But i would be happy if PD really showed that Aussie grunt of the Holden's and Ford's. They both sound :yuck: in GT4.

Ye, I've got juiced, and the XR8 does sound good in it. All the V8's in GT4 sound disgusting bar a couple! That's teh only disappointment, getting in a Dodge Charger and having it sound like ur driving a Civic!

I used to enjoy Bathurst before they banned imported cars.
We banned them as Holdens and Fords couldn't take the fight to them..

Boring Australian "muscle cars" just don't rate on the international scene, there's a lot more to a race car than a bit of horsepower.

Watching Bathurst is like the dead F1 scene, just the same old names and the same old boring cars, nothing to compare it to, gimme a few nissans, beemers or mercs and at least if "we" can beat them we can hold our head up again

lol

couldnt agree more, except to say that i enjoyed watching bathurst before peter brock retired and Holden released the VY Commodore

I too am very disappointed with the sound of the few V8 cars I have driven in GT4, they sound like vacuum cleaners. How can they get it so wrong when many others have got it so right.

Another thought regarding tracks vs cars - personally, I'd prefer tracks over cars. Give me Bathurst, Barbagallo (sp?), Donington and Brands Hatch before adding more Aussie or Brit cars.

If you want more tracks and possibly less cars buy TOCA3 on that you get Ariel Atoms all the Aus cars and practically every track known to man* not the nurburg though which is a shame and nothing but racing cars but that is focused on tracks and is achingly realistic.
*Slightly exagerating here

why is it that there are no australian tracks and minimal cars in the GT series? i mean we have some of the best track layouts and facilities in the world, so why won't they include them?

I'll change immediately .."citta di aria" with  bathurst 👍
(i'm italian .... )
