It's simple. The complainers are on here complaining. The people who are grateful are on GT5 enjoying what they've been given.

Seriously people... try not to forget what Kaz and his crew went through earlier in the year! You people are so hard on PD and it is Shameful!! Grow up and act like decent human beings! At least for the Holidays!
These people work their asses off for us all year long, then I come to see how everyone is in the Forums and it's all just S**t Talk!
Be thankful that you got anything! Stop acting like American Politicians!! "MORE, MORE, MORE!!! GIVE IT TO ME!!!!"
This is a better community than that!
Thank You Kaz, PD and Jordan!
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Ditto to everything stated above. Couldn't have said it any better. Kaz and PD has gone far beyond most game developers in adding content and updates. A HUGE thank you to Kaz and the PD Team for their hard work and continued efforts on making a great game better.

I usually refrain from posting here, but...

Isn't GT5 a product like any other? One that's being purchased by the customers and developed, produced and sold by a company? I mean, I am working my butt off to keep our customers happy. Because that's what I'm getting paid for. Because it's my job.

Did I miss something, or isn't that PD's job and didn't all of us who purchased GT5 express our "gratitude" by paying for it? But, that's just my opinion and probably the only thing I'll ever say about this.

So, good day to you guys.
Apparently while we were sleeping people decided it's not ok for customers to ever be dissatisfied with a product.

Not enjoying something as much as they internet guy next to you now means "your generation has a sense of self-entitlement".

That's why I said it's just fanboy talk. It has no substance or credibility whatsoever, it's just the only thing some people can say, copying what they've undoubtedly read elsewhere on the internet, so they copied it and try to apply it to everyone that doesn't like something they do.

It's actually this kind of crap that's destroying customer service the past 10-20 years. People not expressing their views, and not demanding better of companies. If I get poor customer service, I shop elsewhere, no matter the product. That's the only way customer service works. If PD knows everyone will always buy GT games no matter the content, where do you think the content will go? Uphill or downhill?

My 1st language isn't english so I don't know I can phrase this correctly, but I think this forum got out of hand, back in prologue times this was a great place to get infos... But as of now, people quote each other way too much, arguing the same things over and over, hardly ever stay on topic ... it's very hard finding info within this kind of " conversation " or just discuss opinions in a nice way. I really think, and I hope they read this, that the moderation team should be more in line with like it's handled on NeoGAF... yes people swear a lot there, but they hardly ever insult each other and they also don't need to backup nonsense with strange prove, cuz everyone will call them out anyways! so yeah, that's that....
And there's this. I see a lot here:
+1 to the OP. Most annoying are the 'disapointment threads'. Pisses me off.
This adds nothing to the discussion and you do realise that in cases e.g one account/ DLC these " disappointments " lead to actual improvements, right?

I think its because some have just gotten used to PD constantly updating this game, then when they expect each patch to be "The Holy Grail" making this game absolutely perfect, they are disappointed to find its just another small step in the right direction.

Personally, I love the way PD are still giving this game constant attention. All to often this gen have I seen the developers take the money and run. Its great that PD are still listening and one by one knocking each issue on the head (pretty much all my major gripes at launch have now been resolved).

Saying all this, I could be wrong. They might just be trolls....

No one can fault them on the updates that they are always doing i am thankful for that. But GT5 was a big let down for me for many reasons I just expected alot more from PD. After them saying real damage I am still yet to see any real looking damage, Dirt dont stay on the car, You cant blow out a tyre, Cant blow an engine, Windows dont crack, Cant change tyre pressure even the guy putting fuel into a car does not put the fuel into the filler cap lol.

I like the game but i loved the older ones for taking racing games to the next level.

If you think the exaggerated sense of entitlement these days applies only to GT5, you're missing the big picture. ;)
👍

It's the vocal minority that makes the rest of us seem like ungrateful sods.
👍

Exactly, as was stated elsewhere in the thread (don't want to abuse the multi-quote). You better get used to ignoring the BS or you'll make yourself miserable.

Happy, satisfied, and competent people are busy playing the game. Unhappy, bored, incompetent people go find a place to whine and complain. No mystery.

I only speak for myself. To answer the question: because I don't see PD as a charity organization, and because I'd prefer GT to be taken away from PD and given to a more professional dev company that can create a clear roadmap for the DLC and the whole series. From my point of view, Kaz makes too many mistakes to deserve gratitude for what he does right. I'm a software product manager by the way.

GT5 is a product that is sold.

People who buy this product have every right to complain about certain aspects of it. They paid for it.

Also, earthquakes and tsunamis have nothing to do with making bad decisions reguarding uptates and such.

First of all I don't think that even the guys that complain sound like ''American politicians'' I think they sound like politicians period ( why does America get picked on so much in GT planet? A topic for another day) Anyways unfortunately that is how people are wich is ungrateful. It sucks but I personally cant remember the last game to give me so many updates and free stuff. I am grateful for GT5

Complaining is fine but the over abundance of it does nothing. Nor does it help improve the game at that point.

I wouldn't say that.

It was through complaining that we now have Stardard cockpits and changeable wheels on standards.

If we didn't complain about it so much, it would never have happened.

All of spec II was based off complaints.

The jackals that come in to say things like this:
Happy, satisfied, and competent people are busy playing the game. Unhappy, bored, incompetent people go find a place to whine and complain. No mystery.
to try and start a flame war are exactly what part of their sentence says.

Only competent people enjoy GT5? Your post proves that's not true. ;)

Without complaints this game wouldn't be as good as it is, and those that continually say "go buy something else" "go do this" or just "shut up" in general are the people literally asking for a worse game, and they don't even know it.

Actually, I think it would cement in the fact that there's a serious issue.

Case in point: The Microsoft Red Rings of Death - An overabundance of complaints lead to a 3-year extended warranty for all owners.

Case in point: Skyrim on PS3 - Due to the overabundance of complaints due to the lag issue, Bethesda has had to admit that they're at fault and are working on a fix.

Granted, the GT issues aren't make or break issues like the example above, but for many people this is the only reason they own a PlayStation so I can see their frustration.

Completely agree with the OP 👍.

When I saw the disappointment threads I was kinda pissed, but definitely not surprised. This last update really completed the game for me but I guess not everyone is as optimistic as some of us.

Very arrogant view, the OP is not against genuine concerns with the game's features, but rather the attitude of the people behind them.

Complaining and whinging are not the same as detailing what you like and dislike in a respectful & productive manner.

Kaz and PD has gone far beyond most game developers in adding content and updates.
I don't buy a lot of games, in the last few years I have bought -besides GT5- only 2 games from Rockstar (Midnight Club L.A. and Red Dead Redemption) and Rovio (all the Angry Birds games).

For Midnight Club I remember I got a few updates, and DLC containing another part of L.A. and two car packs.

For RRR I also got few updates, and I bought the Undead DLC which made it a new game.

For Angry Birds i get a lot of updates, often containing new levels (Rio and Seasons). None of the Season levels are ever taken away by the way, only new ones are added.

So between Rockstar, Rovio and PD, for me PD is definitely in the last place, with updates that each time break or remove things, requiring new updates, and DLC not impressive so far besides Spa (for which there are no events).

So I don't buy the "PD is on top when it comes to supporting its customers" line.

In the old days people would move on if a game didnt grab them. Instead we have folks who complain, moan, hiss like fisherwomen. And the best part? It's the same old posters doing it again and again and again.

If you don't like the game then simply move on. How hard is this to follow?

Complaining is one thing. Complaining with the maturity of a 5 year old is another. There is also a big difference between productive feedback and a predictable moaner.

This is the main reason I'm slowly moving away from the GT5 section. You get 3,000 threads about the update, and then another 2,000 complaining about the update. It's so annoying. The folks in the Off-Topic section are so much nicer.
I would rather they have a thread where they can "complain" instead of it being all over the place. But unfortunately they still post all over the place. The complaints threads are a step in the right direction.

PD are a business, they charge for the product and they charge for DLC, i assume the the staff that work for PD are not doing so free of charge for the love of the game.
If someone wants to complain about the game and changes made to it on an internet forum why not, thats ultimately how improvements are made, not sure how earthquakes or the holiday season should change what people say or write, if you don't like the disappointment threads (Which will always exist) don't read them.

If everyone is happy with a product, capitalism donates that more of the same should bring in the dollars/currency.

If everyone loved everything that was sold, it wouldn't take long before we were being charged money to write our own games.

Whining and critics keep people motivated and sharp.

I defy anyone here to name an example of something, money orientated, that got changed despite praise.

It's the monetary system peoples, if it works, keep with it, if it doesn't, change.

We all know how excellent the GT series is and we all know what it could be, What it could be has not yet been reached in my opinion so nudges and pokes are all good, carry on critics. :)

Actually, complaining about complaining doesn't improve the game. CSLACR is right--"complaints" pointed out issues, which result in a better game for everyone. In any event, everyone's got an equal right to say what they want on GTP, so long as they stay within the forum rules.

Anyway, I don't think someone can be "ungrateful" for something they pay for...

The GT fans are all so ungrateful because Forza is clearly a better product, despite its shorter development cycle and history.

And this is just purely from how GT decided to handle tire modeling versus Forza. Someone at PD decided it just made sense to make trail braking pointless in GT5. Clearly they've never driven a real car.

The community is ungrateful because GT5 was suppose to be a launch title, and then, years and years later, it still doesn't feel finished. Not a hard concept to grasp.

Google the word "arrogant".

Then see below right here...

OP
Be thankful that you got anything!
I didn't ask for anything, and I didn't really get anything. I have nothing to be grateful for then now do I?
The free car would be kinda neat, but I already had the same car with a different name, so excuse me if I call that a "big whoop".

Pot. Kettle. Black.
At least some of us have more to say then griping that other people aren't happy with what we are. :dunce:

Seriously, what's more pathetic then going around the internet complaining that people complain? It's hypocritical, accomplishes nothing, and is a complete waste of your own time. Enjoy. :p

I think GTplanet should make a sub category called "disapointment threads". So whoever want to cry about the game can go there.

This will make the main Threats more cleaner.
