The OP needs to join the Need For Speed World forums, honestly compared to them, the GTPlanet community is a utopia
I agree with the eran. The internet is mostly a negative place in terms of opinion. Its an informative place but also negative.
However, as others have said before, what is funny and annoying to some extent is that it is the same people who always complain or whine or nitpick.....and if you pay close attention you can easily identify these people. It is this vocal minority that just seems to "hate" on the game. Criticism is fine....it does not even have to be constructive but when you start saying the same thing over and over again you start to lose effect (or it).
Whats even more funny is that these people are also avid fans of that other game. Hmmmmmm....
Seriously people... try not to forget what Kaz and his crew went through earlier in the year! You people are so hard on PD and it is Shameful!! Grow up and act like decent human beings! At least for the Holidays!
These people work their asses off for us all year long, then I come to see how everyone is in the Forums and it's all just S**t Talk!
Be thankful that you got anything! Stop acting like American Politicians!! "MORE, MORE, MORE!!! GIVE IT TO ME!!!!"
This is a better community than that!
Thank You Kaz, PD and Jordan!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Yeah...because if someone is a fan of another game, they shouldnt be allowed to talk about GT5. Hmmm...indeed.
Seems many fans of GT5 just have a hard time facing glaring issues with the game. Some people seem to be in just plain denial. Such as defending taking away seasonals of an already limited A-Spec. Or saying the sounds are good. OR saying the tire wear is just fine now.
So again...Hmmm
DEATHSARTHEIt's not the GTP community, but I think its gamers all together. Its a sign of the times, where game companies can now change their games instantly through DLC, patches, and updates based off customer feedback.
I mean if you think GTP community is bad, you should look over WoW's forums... my god.. those people are ruthless and because of this, WoW has gone under the knife an endless amount of times and will continue to go under the knife until they finally end it. BUT its Blizzard's ability to address feedback so quickly that they're able to hold on to their 11 million subs.
I can't help feel that GT5 has one of the larger online communities (for a car based game, anyway) and one of the many reasons why is because PD does listen to the feedback and often updates/patches the game and released DLC... they're constantly working and they're actively listening to their audience. When that happens, people will complain about ANYTHING.

Interaction with the community is the next step. Developers of online games have community liasons who reply to user concerns and give insight to the direction of the game. They also give definative negatives for features that will never be included. These guys respond to actual threads in forums and are part of the conversation. Too much secrecy leads to rampant speculation and elevated expectations.
Who exactally are they listening to? It comes down to personal taste. For instance some people are jumping for joy because the pace cars lights work. Was it really....I mean really a huge issue? Yet leaderboards are still a no-go. Just one example, but what would make better sense for a car game? I do have to say Spa was a great addition, but too many other overlooked or ignored areas are ridiculous.
Well theres your answer....I doubt it took an hour to make those lights work so there is no loss in time but is those little things that sometimes make people happy.
Its always one step forward and two steps back. To top it all off, I still dont see why people think PD is putting in "extra" work. All these updates should have been made a long time ago, not starting big updates/dlc when FM4 came out.
Really. What about those 12 updates before Spec 2Guess they were no "work" at all.
It would be great if you could name another developer that does racing games or heck even console games that continues to support GT5 as much as PD. Some say its because GT5 was unfinished....yes they have a point but I think its because Kaz actually cares about his fans.
If you have seen videos of PD's workplace during the development time....they had a board were it would show who is sleeping at their desk.
And here is the big issue. The fact that Kaz doesnt speak English is a big obstacle. The fact he thinks he knows what people want more than they do. The fact he is so biased towards Japanese it seems to exclude other parts of the worlds flavor. All of this adds up to head scratching updates, and dumbfounded decisions.
I am sorry but this sounds really arrogant. GT is Kazunori's vision, it is his dream or ambition. Yes he does acknowledge the fans, but the minute KY no longer has his own input in the game I think GT will no longer be GT. I do not want KY listening to fans for everything. Let him surprise us because he sure has in the past (positively).
KY has also acknowledged their being to many Japanese cars and your last sentence is pure opinion.
I like the fact the "other" car game are at least upfront with whats going on. They dont promised things and then 1/2 deliver or dont deliver at all. If Sony wont ditch Kaz/PD, then they need to teach them how to communicate with the end user...and not just the ones that speak Japanese.
Really. I seem them saying that the sim steering mode had no assists....we all know how that turned out.
In my opinion the reason that game as you say does not promise then not deliver is to be honest because they do not have that much to deliver at all.
Well theres your answer....I doubt it took an hour to make those lights work so there is no loss in time but is those little things that sometimes make people happy.
Thats my point. One little thing fixed that should have worked all along. Yet leaderboards were promised, and would be a great addition, yet not even talked about.

Like that is a good thing? Its not uncomman at all for software devs to do this. I worked for a software company that had a bunk room for the programmers. Its nothing special for PD.

After going from GT1-4 and then playing 5, might be better for someone else to step in.
KY has also acknowledged their being to many Japanese cars and your last sentence is pure opinion.
Of course its opinion. Shared by many others. But also, he admits too many Japanese cars, yet nothing has been done about it. Please dont tell me the 2 VW's is a cure for this...
Really. I seem them saying that the sim steering mode had no assists....we all know how that turned out.
Yes, we do. It got fixed within weeks 👍
In my opinion the reason that game as you say does not promise then not deliver is to be honest because they do not have that much to deliver at all.
Last line makes no sense. They delivered on everything stated, which is alot. Things that were not going to make it, were also stated. What was delivered was a great game without the missing of 1/2 baked features unlike how GT5 currently, after a year, still needs updates.
I think those are good points, if I actually understand it..A lot of OT. I'd like to answer the question of OP.
Answer: imho because every 10 people we have 2 unhappy for each 1 enthusiastic (and this because GT5 is a masterpiece with... a lot of issues), and 7 who care about losing time crying about how this game is good or bad and just play, or do better things. It's well know also that unhappy people do a lot much of noise than happy folks.
That is true, like the people that started talking about "new wheels" for standards. No clue where anyone got that idea from, didn't make any sense if you ask me.It always seems that people hype themselves (and each other) up, resulting in ridiculously high expectations which are never met...
Seriously people... try not to forget what Kaz and his crew went through earlier in the year! You people are so hard on PD and it is Shameful!! Grow up and act like decent human beings! At least for the Holidays!

I'm disappointed only because the online was wrecked 3-4 weeks ago with server "maintenance", and I was really hoping they'd fix that with the maintenance from the update, but they did not.
GT5 continues to be "back of the pack" when it comes to online functionality. it started with GT4 not having it at all, GT5P's was option-less, and now GT5's just doesn't work well unless you consult an IT professional for so many people, it's flat out pathetic.
If there's one thing GT5 needs fixed, it's online play, and that's the one area they seem to continue to ignore the most.
Why would I be grateful? I want to play online, after all.
I usually refrain from posting here, but...
Isn't GT5 a product like any other? One that's being purchased by the customers and developed, produced and sold by a company? I mean, I am working my butt off to keep our customers happy. Because that's what I'm getting paid for. Because it's my job.
Did I miss something, or isn't that PD's job and didn't all of us who purchased GT5 express our "gratitude" by paying for it? But, that's just my opinion and probably the only thing I'll ever say about this.
So, good day to you guys.
Actually, complaining about complaining doesn't improve the game. CSLACR is right--"complaints" pointed out issues, which result in a better game for everyone. In any event, everyone's got an equal right to say what they want on GTP, so long as they stay within the forum rules.
Anyway, I don't think someone can be "ungrateful" for something they pay for...
It's simple. The complainers are on here complaining. The people who are grateful are on GT5 enjoying what they've been given.
Proof?
You must have inside information. Kaz said last year the he felt the game was unfinished and planned updates.
I agree with the OP. It would be nice if the complainers would keep it to the feedback section. When I first saw the "Disapointment 2.02" thread, I just calmy thought "Are you kidding me?" I'm 34 years old and just completely exhausted of all the crying in this beautiful world we live in. Life is too short.
Because probably 1/2 of the members are underage, thus have never driven a car before.
This car doesn't handel anything like in real life, GT5 is so bad!
Shut up fool, go drive your mom's minivan.
.....
This whole thread begs a larger question about the development of games today versus the pre-patch era. I don't want to hijack the thread, but how many developers rush titles to market now knowing that they have a patch delivery system that can turn what used to be a FINAL release on disc into one last beta test? You could definitely argue that GT5 should not have had this issue as Prologue should have been enough of a last beta, but this issue has come up time and again with regard to many titles on many forums lately.
It has been the norm for years now. I do not see it changing anytime soon. It started on PC quite a ways back, and now its all over.
Its good and bad. Great that bugs could be patched out, and features added. Bad that it makes QC less extentensive.
There are still companies that release solid games, and kill any missed bugs shortly after release. I have to say FM4 release was good and solid and the one huge bug with the assist steering got fixed in good time. Then you have a game like Shift2 that was unplayble with a wheel at release. 2 patches later, and it still has game breaking bugs (except on PC that had a 3rd patch AND a community made one), and then all support was pulled.
In a nutshell, DLC and patches are comman place now, and will be here for a looong time to come.

I agree with you two, because GT5 should have been a complete rendition and not the half fledged game that was what GT5P was for obvious reasons. However I agree the patches have squashed many bugs in GT5 and helped it get closer to the full fledged game. I just don't think you can kill all the bugs in any game. For all the bugs you kill that many more arise it seems. Vaxxtx makes great points and I agree that patches are here to stay good or bad.
