Let their name be tarnished by this whore-able addition in GT5? They artificially inflate the difficulty by requiring ASM for the Oval tracks only? God damn now I understand why most people say they should have left this out. It is not even close to the real thing. They make it so much of a piss off event this whole game is starting to really be come crappy.

PS if you can't tell 4 1/2 hrs trying to get just the Daytona race done. Farthest I've gotten is 5 laps before I get spun and end up about 12 secs back.

Why do they have to require ASM just to make it seem harder?

Agree 100% and another point is the NASCAR championship race you race in the rain . Even a rookie follower of NASCAR knows that under no circumstance do they race in the rain !

I've been telling NASCAR fans since before the game was even released that if they're wanting a NASCAR game to look elsewhere. It's long been common knowledge that GT5 was anything but a NASCAR game. It's bordering on false advertising to showcase NASCAR as though it's a noteworthy part of the game, obviously trying to add appeal to NASCAR fans, only for the actual game to have just the tiniest hint of NASCAR sprinkled in and to do it so sloppily.

I don't know how many topics I've seen on message boards (mainly GameFAQs) from people wondering if the game has all NASCAR tracks, all the drivers/cars, and that sort of thing. Sorry Billy, but the game has just two tracks that NASCAR actually races on, a handful of the cars (odd considering that they really just needed some more liveries to represent the whole field), and only twelve of them on track at once rather than forty-three.

That's the thing I am a GT Fan Nascar SUCKS BIG DONKEY D*&^. But because I am on the hunt for 100% in the game I have to put up with PD and specifically Kaz's stupidity. It is BS that they make this game "harder" by forcing people to race with Aids that only Hinder good drivers.

Really?

God damn it lap 9 just before turning lap 10 the god damn ****** computer sends me from 1 to 12th without even touching my. What a crappy example of Nascar.

Not sure but I think they force the ASM for increased difficulty, forcing you to Draft and run a precise line as you would in NASCAR, however GT5 needs to be beatable to the masses so the AI difficulty driving similar Spec cars need be slower then a Player Car, so forcing a fixed level of a speed reducer (ASM literally slows you down) enables them to vary the difficulty of the challenge to where they want it.

I was pissed at first, I hate ASM it's such a aggression killer. However after buckling down and beating them I was stocked when I Golded the final and last NASCAR Gold, I shouted "Yeah!!!" first time in GT5, nuff said.w

You are wrong. ASM PUNISHES good drivers. It is forced because PD know the AI Sucks donkey balls. PD forces it because they can't program to save their lives.

I'm wrong? Essentially you agree with me but are childish about it "PD sucks donkey balls" and "can't program to save their lives" but your playing their game, they don't even know who you are or care.

I say it's used so PD can manipulate the difficulty level, you say " ASM PUNISHES good drivers." Again, kinda the same, only ASM is not forced in like 90%of the game so we can see it's only used to slow you down to increase the difficulty and not at all about punishing "good" drivers.

As I said PD has the AI at a level beatable to the masses. You say "It is forced because PD know the AI Sucks donkey balls.". Kinda the same thing but with an illogical approach. Do you really think PD can't program a AI that would spank you lap after lap? Ridiculous, the AI sucks Donkey Balls so you can play the game with the impression your a "good" driver. Lol

If PD can't program to save their lives, why are you playing GT & or on a board talking about it?

I think NASCAR races online are fun, especially if you get into a room with a good group of mature drivers.

Really?

YouTube Link

Yes really if you follow NASCAR you know once the rain comes the race is red flagged unless they have ran half the race . They will wait for the rain to stop then use jet dryers to dry the track and finish the race and if this can't be done then they have the race the next day weather permitting . They don't deny they have no rain tires or do they plan on ever having them as NASCAR thinks it is to much of a safety issue to run the cars on wet tracks .

Canadian NASCAR doesn't count!

Especially Nationwide :yuck:

Although not implemented as well as some people would have wanted. I feel though some of the NASCAR races I have had online and offline have been awesome. For the Daytona 10 lap event, disable the ABS and the ASM will turn off, and as long as you don't drive like a maniac and respect the other drivers (ie allowing draft lines to pass) then your racing will be amazing.

I think PD could make a decent exclusive NASCAR game, if it were just that and nothing else. They do have one of the best engines and grasp on physics, though they'd have to outsource to someone else for the AI.

The video posted shows the race being ran under the yellow flag, NASCAR will not run a race in rain. Goodyear does have rain tires, and the they were use once at the exhibition race in Suzuka Japan, they practiced on rain tires, that was the closet to racing in the rain that they get.

NASCAR's Canadian series is called "NASCAR Canadian tires series", while nationwide is their American feeder series. one of the nationwide road course races happens to be on circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the Canadian GP track.

the cup cars (top level NASCAR, what you see in GT5) do not ever race in the rain, while the nationwide cars only race in the rain in Montreal.(although, in theory, they could run in the rain on Road America and Watkin's Glen. there hasn't been a race on either track in the wet since goodyear made their wet tire compound, so this theory is yet to be tested)

I honestly don't care for NASCAR and wish they would have left it out. They really could have used the extra space for more premiums on release. I guess it was a way to lure NASCAR fans in and let them discover there are right turns in racing too :sly:

I shouldn't have to write this, but obviously I'm just kidding. I know someone will be a pooper and reply with the few races they do with right turns.

You can't block them?

NASCAR is NASCAR. It's absolute crap everywhere.

They did run that race under green. Look it up. They even have windshield wipers!!

ASM is on in the championship also?? What a load of BS.

Nascar online, with some clean drivers is actually pretty good racing, as long as the race last a bit longer than 10 laps or so.

The ASM thing is ridiculous. Fixing the difficulty doesn't excuse PD for making bad choices. Either they get the AI right, or maybe give them a slight advantage like extra tire grip. Don't force the player to use some garage Anti Sustained-turn Manager.

I'm glad that the stock cars are in the game though, they're as fun as anything else on a road course. I need to make more NASCAR road races online.

just set your abs to zero and asm is turned off, you can win the race by over 6 seconds.

also ,real nascar races 2 times a year in the USA on road course race tracks.

they stopped running road courses in the rain several years ago. but they did do it for awhile, mostly qualifying in the rain

I know. I was joking.

And you forgot Mexico City.

Let's call it like it is, PD did a half assed job with the NASCAR portion of the game...Then again, they did a half assed effort on just about everything else.

They're really trying to do too much and lack focus. It's like they employ a "let's throw everything in and see what sticks strategy."

Most ****ing overused joke... 👎

Yes PD can't program to save their lives due to the fact they have to require ASM on the Oval Tracks to try and Simulate what happens Naturally there with Nascar. They know their Physics engine is worthless.

ABS only goes till 1. Can't go to 0. ASM is Permanently on for the offline Nascar.

The Gran Turismo series has never accurately represented a single race series, nor simulated the whole "race weekend" event properly.

If you were a GT fan and bought GT5 expecting it to accurately represent NASCAR, you're just as dumb as someone who might have expected a full-on accurate DTM, F1, JGTC, or rally event in the game.

Kaz seems to skip from racing form to racing form, like a rock across the surface of a pond. Gran Turismo touches on most forms of motoring, but never dives too deep into a single one.
