Will a car being "premium" or not have an effect on your car choice for races?

I don't care about damage much, but I will be mighty pissed if theres no cockpit view.

I never ever use the GT-R Proto in Prologue because of its lack of interior view. Otherwise, scratches only vs full on damage doesn't bother me.

As said before, with interior they are alluding to the interior parts of a car; the engine the boot ect. Only the premium - or race cars - will have that: that's 170 cars. The rest won't have the abbility to crash open the hood, trunk, doors ect.; thus they are normal cars.

I strongly believe all cars will have a cockpit iew; so really don't worry about it, I mean PD have shown the wordl the joy of that view in prologue, in cars that can hardly be seen as premium such as a suzuki cappuchino...and now it is gone for 800 cars? I don't think so :)

This tread is full of fail for me.. because of speculation.

Premium vs standard car type is sole speculation. And we don't know anything about this feature. It could be everything.

Japanse translation is the worst problem. Till this day we are speculating about 20vs70 thing.

It could be history videos , better demage model based on real time deformation, etc.

and for pure fun we don't know if standardvspremium cars will ever happen in GT5...

I think that all cars will have cockpit view cause there are cars from gt4 that are in gt5p that have cockpit, even stupid cars like capuccino have cockpit and all the cars we saw in the videos of gt5 have cockpit.. but at the same time i think to the number of cars.. 1000, it's a huge amount of cars , how the hell could they model cockpit for all ? (even if forza's guys made it for 400 cars in 2 years (ok.. crappy cockpits but they made something) and maybe pd already took a "scanner" of interiors while doing gt4)

if this thread is 'full of fail' stop posting and get out of here: simple as that. I really dislike these comments that add NOTHING to an already speculative thread; there is no prize for stating the obvious you know...

Hm, judging by that steering wheel, could it be a classic Ferrari we haven`t seen till now?

I really hope that all cars get a cockpit view. I can`t drive without it anymore. I hate the bumper view. It would be a huge dissappointment if only certain vehicles were allowed to use it.
For me its much more important than damage or porsches.

Like the 330 P4 sitting next to her arm?

The whole GT5 section of these forums is speculation; we do not know very much about the game.

ehh.. you nailed it ! but there are useful threads here like "last", master track, car list. or PD/Kaz in media.

One thing is sure we are hungry, and fest is still unconfirmed quality.. :)

This will have no effect on my choice whatsoever. I couldn't care less about smashing up cars.

Agreed. But what about interior view? Wasn´t it said that only premium cars will have cockpit view? That is definitely a turnoff for me. Only premium cars in that case!

It won't have any bearing on what cars I race with. It's kind of like the leaderboard cars on forza. I don't use them because everyone else does. But I don't really see that being the case here, what with 1000 cars to choose from. I see everyone finding that one car that they fall in love with and have a few of them to use it for different events; such as having a RWD R32 for racing, a normal AWD for time attacks, and another RWD one for drifting.

So I don't feel that these premium cars will have any sort of big bearing on car choice.

....

Hoho, what we have here? A true R32 lover! It was a totally epic car indeed, I'm still in love with GT4 thanks to my white R32 GTS-T Type. ;)

Back on topic, by looking at Prologue, you can say that it will be impossible to race normal cars against premium cars in the simulation mode, the performance point restrictions and the "classes" in which the cars were distributed at the CES demo made me figure out this. There will be no events like those ones in GT4 ( "All cars allowed"), they will be divided between rally/touring, supercar, concept as they were in the demo.

Maybe we do get some newer classes like GroupC/LMS cars, road going and city car.

I certainly hope this isn't true. It make some sense, but if it is the case then apart from the "premiumness" the premium cars would also bring a limitation for the game and our car choices.

Not one bit! I always chose my car in GT using this formula: ~400bhp and <1000kg. Besides, I always use the nose cam anyhow! 👍

It will only effect me if the premium cars are the only ones with the dash view, damage does not bother me.

The dash view is one of the most important new-gen aspects of GT that I have been waiting for

If GT5 did not have them for every car, there will be gnashing of teeth from the GT fan base, as well as ammunition for competitors to use against GT :scared:

Especially after such a long and hard wait :yuck:

I can't see how you could mix standard and premium cars in to a single race. It would feel completely wrong...on the basis I assume the difference is only damage.

Dont know if Kaz was misquoted or not about all this talk of only premium cars having full cockpit views, but i'll say this: the cockpit view was the biggest attraction for me in the new GT5. Premium cars or not, if ALL cars in the game do not have an full interior view, i will be seriously pissed off. Iv been a fan of the GT series since the beginning, and that is the only thing that it has been missing. Couldnt give a monkeys bumhole about damage. Id be happy for him to cut down on the damage modelling if it meant giving every car a full cockpit view. Then again, maybe he has been misquoted. But if he hasnt, and he goes ahead with this cock-eyed plan, then GT5 will be the last one ill be getting - ill stick to codemasters stuff from then on.

If there's really such a thing as two different models, I'd assume it's like this:

Every car they modeled for GT5 Prologue and are new for Gran Turismo are premium models. Standard models are probably old models from GT4 that they just added more polygons to. Standard models might have the same interior mock-up they used in the GT PSP version.

No. Read about the different car modeling techniques used in gt4 and gt5.

From the first features list translated from japanese
170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)

Full interior modeling definitely refeers to engine parts shown with damaged hoods and bumpers, doors and parts coming off that shows the interior of the passenger compartment (pilot's full body, rollcage etc.. as we've seen in the STi replay)

I read it as reefers the first time. Had a chuckle. Moved on. Thanks.
