What are they main differences between GT5 and GT4? I've only played GT5 but I like the idea there's another GT game that can't be that much different than GT5 that I haven't played.

I have a PS2 etc, obviously the graphics will be poorer but hey? it seem GT5 is always getting slated for poor visuals.

Is it basicaly the same sort of thing but with less cars and slightly poorer graphics?

You'll have 5 AI-cars instead of 11 or 15 and PS2 graphics of course. But the variety of tracks alone is worth buying it. Also no online-racing included. Most of GT5's cars are in GT4 + some icons like the Ford Model T, the AUDI streamliner from 1935, the two first cars ever built (from 1886), a NIKE-racer and some more. You'll also be provided with a zillion different rims and an epic replay-mode :dopey:

Best in the series! Its a shame we can't all play on ps3. I'm thinking of pulling the old ps2 back out just to give it a go. And by the way, b-spec is optional and makes endurances races doable and you can FAST FOWARD!!!!!!👍

I wish I still my ps2, I'd be playing gt4 and metal gear snake eater all the time.

Test track with 1/4 mile and top speed tests. There is also the ability to select individual gear ratios. More different locations, as has been told. A very good game all in all, the best racing on ps2 and it is extra affordable nowadays.

Less and less current cars than GT5, but more tracks, and a good gameplay with few weaknesses. If you can arrange with PS2 graphics and a more "wooden" and less refined physics, you can't go wrong with GT4.

The best in the GT series by far. Get it and enjoy!!! PD dropped the ball after GT4!!!

Oh wow i was also thinking of buying this game still have the ps2 lying around and with all the good feedback on gt4 i will have to get this game

honestly, ive said this before, but if gt5 was just gt4, with the graphics, photomode, racing mods and aeroparts they gave us in gt5, i would have liked it MUCH better.

go play gt4, it is EXCELLENT

GT4 is far superior to GT5 aside from the obvious graphics quality. Just a much more "user friendly" game. By far the best of the GT series. Waiting as long as we did for GT5's release...disappointing would be an understatement. I still love the game and love the series...but I can't say that GT5 has blown my socks off. GT4 did just that when I 1st played it.

I know GT4 was a nice game and all, but why is everyone glossing over the fact that it also had some SERIOUS flaws in the physics engine? 'Diffs' not working being my main bug bear about it. It was a cool game, but now that I've played GT5, I couldn't go back to GT4 in a million years.

if you liked gt5 you'll love gt4

be aware this is the ps2 though and the car isnt going to drive very nicely

Be aware, you'll be able to race in all the events in any order you wish, at any time you like, as long as you have completed an appropriate license test. You'll also be able to earn a reasonable amount of credits, earn prize cars more than once per event, sell expensive cars and actually get credits back in exchange, have the ability to purchase the majority of vehicles straight from the dealership at any time, and will be inundated with a plethora of A-spec events from which to choose to rebuild your pile of credits, which isn't limited by an artificial ceiling that exists for no apparent reason.

^ this. So true. GT4 is still the big daddy of all driving games. A monumental accomplishment on a relatively modest platform like the PS2.

And you can get it for about $4 on amazon. So theres not that much risk in buying it as even if you don't, your only out a couple bucks.

Yes, I just popped back in after awhile. I was amazed, all my beautiful photo's, the B-Spec was actually interesting and better, the amount of events were stunning after GT5, and etc.

It obviously has a lot more depth to A-spec but I think I would have a hard time going back because of the difference in physics. Give it a shot and let us know. I have thought about picking it up again at some point, but more for my collection rather than go through the entire game.

I just went back to GT4, after getting a bit bored with GT5. The difference in physics don't bother me in the least. They're definitely more than good enough to get the proper sense of realism and predictability in the handling of the different cars. And in terms of tuning and tweaking your cars, there are actually a lot more options in GT4 than in GT5...

Last week ive bought GT4 and GT3 to start from scratch and yeah the visuals arent as good but it does bring back the memories. How good deep forest raceway is compared to GT5s version and the soundtracks
Get it 👍 more driving means more practice and it will get you off that grinding stage for a while :)

Im sure after playing it for an hour the physics you wont even notice.

Its just like playing any PS2 game when you dont have a PS3.
Still gonna be good.

Lol @ the post of how much better it is then GT5 XD
