RI sucks a rooney.

Its just practice and starting off at 3 stars and moving up. I started season one 3 stars got promoted and stayed on 3, then moved to 4 and then to 5.

Now its rare not to score at least 3-4 goals a game. Its just takes time and a good formation. Of course, the right players are the trick too.

Crap, man. Does picking your stadium have any effect on the teams you play?

For some reason, using Nijmegen, I have never played in rain or snow :(

Oh look who it is, drop me a bloody mail via my gmail damn you!

I cannot recal playing in the rain or snow once in the master league. I forgot snow was even in the game untill I played a friendly on that horrible patched WE9 I tried out.

This time around (god damn like the 4th time almost) I started off on 5 stars and I intend to up it to 6 after the end of my first season in the top division.

At the moment i'm in the transfer period/friendly part before being thrown in to the upper division, which will be a mock version of Italian seria.

I've put up a couple of my players for a possible transfer and now AC Milan wants to buy one of my midfielders for a nice sum. So i'll let him go and sign someone who isn't playing for a club with the money i'll get.

This is one feature I like about the masterleague this time around is that you can put people up for possible transfer.

Another tip if you can't afford to sign players by paying a transfer fee, is see who is available to sign on a free. These players are from teams that have not renewed their contract and you will find them in by searching by groups and going to unnasociated or something simmilar. Sometimes you get allot of crappy players in this list, but sometimes you can find some great bargins.

For Example I managed to sign Ziegler (great LB and LMF, great passing and a wicked long shot on him) and Farfan (who can play RMF, RWF, SS, CF and is a terror down the wings).

Anybody have pics of their uniforms and emblems?

Eh no i'm just using Lazio so i've just got the normal Lazio kit.

Edit: i'm so frustrated at the moment, my team can barely win a game. I just got hammered like 4-0 by athletico madrid in a pre-season friendly. I have a feeling my controller is a bit broken, the d-pad is starting to feel a bit odd and it seems like my players sort of don't do what I want them to do.

I wish I realy hadn't thrown the damn controller at the wall when I was pissed off at some game.

My friends managed to break the R1 button in one of my controllers playing WE. Come on, it's not like he's going to run more if you press harder... So now when we're playing there's always a fight for who's getting the good controller. Although pressing L3 on the "good" controller doesn't work anymore either. :indiff:

I gotta buy some new ones.

Yay! I just got the Argentinian Mascherano and Goalkeep Kim U Don. Both of them totally roxx0rz my b0xsoxzorz.

Mascherano is bloody awesome and in a couple of seasons he will be insanely good. Although in my game Liverpool ended up buying him, I had him before but i'll try and find a different player this time around. Oh yeah and that Korean keeper is insanely good as well.

Is Mascherano on a regular club too or just Argentina's National team? Because if he's in a club that would be Corinthians in the game.

Corinthians isn't in the normal game. Remember he has the american version which is called WE9i, which is PES5 rebranded.

He's in the corinthians squad in the wendetta patch. Oh yeah speaking of that patch, I figured out why there were players missing. What they did was replace the classic teams (like classic england brazil holland etc) with under-21 teams. Also I forgot to download the option file that had them unlocked, so I put the option file in and all those players were all correct for their club teams as well.

I must admit i'd rather have the under 21's than the classic teams, that was a pretty good idea.

Holy crap, this is getting hard. I beat Valencia by a lucky PK. I'm really dreading have to face Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. :scared:

If you guys get the chance, sign Kim U Don as your goalie. He's freaking 17 and has a 95 GK rating, PLUS he's cheap. I just trained him up in responsivness and all that jazz, and now he's like unbeatable.

How many of you remember playing Internation Superstar Soccer 64? That was like the best game EVER.

LMFAO. I'm smashing Barcelona 7-0 right now. They can't cope with attack worth a damn. Their goalie is totally overwhelmed.

I almost got destroyed be this other club, though. They gave me the worst game I've had. I got a lucky draw, though, because my supergiant header-machine, Van Buyten, scored a header off of a corner kick. :D

FC Barcelona = teh sukx. they are undefeated with one draw, though. Whereas I have many draws. I wonder if this will put up one and into first place.

edit: Ugh! No! Own Goal! :grumpy: 👎

Yeah, I'll take some of my emblem and my uniforms and stuff. I'd really like to see all of your creations. :D

Sometimes the biggest teams go down easily when you play them in the league. It's strange, I always used to beat the crap out of Inter in the league. Then I faced them in the WEFA cup competition and got completely obliterated by them.

I don't think i've ever scored an own goal when playing the computer. It always happens to me when i'm playing a friend which is about 9000 times worse, because then you have to put up with someone making fun of you for the next hour or so.

I'll post some pictures tommorow, you can see what the fan patched version of the game looks like. ;)

Koltarii has done two own goals for me since I got the game.

The other club was called Osuara or something like that. They're friggin HARD. They have all these mammoth gigantor goliath men. Iujimano has slowed progression tremendously. He's way too short to compete in the air game at all, so it's as if I'm down a guy or two with the way they have air superiority. Iujimano is good as a short-term filler, but after a while he starts getting incredibly exhausted all the time.

Did you play WE9 online? it's very fun, last night, I picked Italy against the guy's France, Ffirst match, i scored first but he managed to equalize at the end of first haft, no goals in second haft, and I defeated him by the penaty shootouts.:sly: Second match, I managed to score early in the game with a quick counter attack finished by Cassano, the guy got so pissed and move his team formation higher to equalize, but his 4 MFs were totally overpowered by mine and Nesta and Canavaro were doing their best, so the match ended 1-0 for Italy, the guy got so mad that he kept saying: "you suck", %&&&&*, %$$&*...LOL:sly:

I think thats Osasuna, so you must be playing mainly spanish clubs.

If you can't compete in the air, have you tried using through balls? You do a through ball with the triangle, what it is is a pass that doesn't go to the players feet. It's a pass that the player will run onto, if you time this right you can play a pass straight through the defence and be straight in on goal.

Also you can do a long through ball by pressing triangle and L1 at the same time, but it's a little harder to latch onto the end of those.

Yeah thats a common bug, if you see the keeper off his line and you shoot from a certain point in the pitch you can score from like 50 yards away. Mind you that has happened in real life as well but only like once or twice.

Yeah, osasuna. Their defense was too good to get any kind of PK-zone advantage. I tried everything. A bunch of my guys were super tired, though. I'll beat them the next time we play.

But, yeah, I'm in League C. It's a mix of spanish and italian teams.

Heh, won the triple on 5 star, polishing off Barca in the Wefa thanks to Vucinec slotting two and Kalou one. Getting Ronaldinho injured sure helped :trouble:

I am going to take a dive in the D1 Cup this season though. I hardly develops the players and the prize money isnt that great. The fatigue issue with players can be a problem.

I found this cool backup AMF called Ivanschitz, he's a LF Austrian. Already scored twice in two games.

I'm kinda annoyed that they changed that in PES5. I remember the cup matches in Pes4 were great for getting experience in, so I always used to field my younger players in the cup matches. Now you get sod all, I try to concentrate on winning it in my first season at top level though because the next season after i'll probably be in the WEFA cup.

My last minute purchase was a tunisian midfielder called, Namouchi. He's pretty good, he strengthens up my CMF and DMF areas because Moutinho doesn't have enough ballance to play dmf.

Also if you need a LMF LB buy a swiss called Ziegler, great at long passes and is pretty good at long shots.

What are your formations? What is optimal?

I have two CF's and an SS, then two SMFs and one AMF brought up, and one DMF for the middle, and three CB's, the middle guy being a sweeper.

I play heavy attack mode. My SMF's pretty much run up and down the field. They always tire out really fast, though. My AMF is pretty much an SS who goes back further and focuses on playmaking and passing. My DMF backs up the entire offense when in scoring position, and the sweeper comes up to guard the center of the field. My team is very fast, so everyone just rushes back into a zone/coverage defense.

It works out pretty well, minus some organization complications that occur at times.

I've never bothered with all these added positions like second striker and sweeper. Although I do sometimes use wingbacks.

The Majority of the time i'll use a custom 4-4-2 formation with edited positions. Sometimes i'll change the two cmfs in the middle to one dmf and another amf if i'm having trouble putting through passes in the middle. If i'm having trouble playing on wide areas i'll tend to sub on a winger over a LMF or RMF making them a LWF or RWF to support the two strikers. Then i'll push the corresponding halfback to a wingback position, which can expose the other team down the left or right channels.

But in turn it looses a bit of defensive stability because a wingback isn't as defensively minded as a halfback is, but it's good if you want to put allot of pressure on the other team.

Sometimes i'll play a 3-5-2, well more like a 3-4-1-2. Which leaves you with 3 cb's at the back two dmf's to protect the back 3 and do a bit of playmaking, two wingbacks to run up and down the sides and an AMF who supports the two strikers.

I used to use 4-3-3 in an old game, but at the moment I haven't got good enough wingers and I haven't got a forward that could play the single striker up front.

My 8yr old brother has just started playing PES5 (He used to play PES4 abit). I had him started on 1 star but after just a day I've put him on 2 star and he gets more of a challenge. He's not too bad TBH, but he likes the Arsenal style of attack AKA the Hockey style of attack AKA down the wing and pass it onto the penalty spot for someone to hit it.

But anyway, my preffered formation is 3-5-2, but it's more of a 3-2-1-2-2 ()

I find that it smothers the midfield, but also ensures good support in offense and defense. I pretty much have a 5 man defense, but they're also needed to be atleast near the opposition box. This is usually why I end up subbing the guys in these positions by the 70th min.

Okay, the game reads my formation as 3-3-1-3, but then when I shift into defense it becomes a 3-1-3-3. Lol. It's nifty, though. You guys should try it.
