Which points system should we use?

  • 1: 40 per race, 20 pole position, 0 points second in qualifying

BMW and Volvo are hitting same top speed at High Speed Ring. BMW handles better. :( Haven't checked other cars yet.

Edit:

Penalties:

-braunracing88, found with 20 hp more than acceptable. 256 hp was original spec, was not adhered to in post-tech inspection. Penalty is last place points from both races, moving all other drivers behind his unmodified finishing positions forward one slot. This means that the results you thought you got are wrong.

-Pending an investigation of contact during final lap of Race 1, involving polarbear345 and an unknown driver. Replays will be investigated, and upon finding cause/result/involved players, PMs will be sent.

So your Volvo needs a little boost because I could follow the opponents on the straights if i was drafting, but i had no chance of overtaking or outbraking them.
The good handling helped to close the gap while cornering.

A lot of research will follow.

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say another preseason race or two would have helped immensely.

Race 1 was still unbelievably great!

Possibly, but the Megane would still be a pain, remember I ran the Awesome Yaris of Awesome in all the preseason races.

Yea, but some other things wouldn't have happened.

Anyways, with Braun's "moment" points should be close!

And congrats on the wins Batista and lancer!

That was only for Race 2. I had the car at 256 for Race 1. That race shouldn't be affected. Almost every other car is allowed to run at 276hp. Why not the Scirocco? If my ride proves uncompetitive next week, I may be forced to switch cars. I'm tired of running midfield and being outrun by 2-3 seconds a lap at times. (If there were a middle-finger avatar, I'd stick one right here.)

With TB and the lads around, such an avatar isn't a good idea.

In regards to the Scirocco, it's known as the fastest FF car in GT5. I've explained several times that the cars are being built to run the exact top speed at every track.

The reason you're falling a bit behind is simply because the Renault, Neon, Civic and BMW are equally good, our (i.e., yours and mine) tuning setups are weaker, and our driving skills aren't quite equal with those of cnd01, BatistaWWE94, and LancerEvo7. They're fast too. They're also just as human as every one of us. They enjoy winning, too. They enjoy good clean, close racing, too.

I'm not happy to fall behind much, either. But, I'm liking how close the specs are on the Renault, Civic, BMW, and SRT4, so I'm taking my time before nerfing any of those cars.

But, you didn't notice the huge difference those 20 hp gave you? They instantly made you 2 seconds faster than any other car I tested at High Speed Ring... I couldn't run 2 seconds slower than your Scirocco in your draft. The Scirocco has been proven, many times, to be 10-20 km/h faster than any other ITCC car.

Sorry, that it's a bit of a shame, that the cars aren't all even to start with, but, the WMA Board Members and I are working on every car with the utmost detail, to bring the closest racing possible. As a part of that, we expect the drivers to follow the given specs, as per GTPlanet Online League Rules, and WMA Conduct Guidelines and Code of Conduct. That's right, I've written/read three sources of various rules that all basically state the same thing: "We want you to run your car the way we tell you to run your car, because that's the most fair way to ensure the happiness and satisfaction of all of the WMA Members (Sakery, Curt_ex, LancerEvo7), WMA Board Members (polarbear345, cnd01, TDZdave and I), and non-WMA participants (you, whiskymaser, and BatistaWWE94).

As a final note on the topic: The BMW runs 256 hp, and 1270 kg. Imagine if we didn't put the specs in place, the way we do... The BMW would be 2-3 seconds per lap faster, instead of winning/losing by a tenth of a second or two.

Edit: I think it's an appropriate time to mention this: the WMA Board Members reached an agreement last night to spend at least 6 hours respec'ing the cars, given the current specs, based on a number of data points including:

-turning G-forces
-top speed in km/h at end of longest/fastest straight on the tracks we're testing
-ultimate (qualifying) lap times
-average lap times at qualifying pace
-average lap times at race pace
-(not drastically important) tire wear

So, I did a four-car test at Suzuka Full. I chose it because it has a good mix of twisty bits and fast bits, plus the figure-8 means the tire wear will be more even. The results are as follows:

4. Honda Civic (Polar) - 2:17.642
Polar, I have absolutely no idea how you drive this thing. The powerband is absolutely atrocious, and mine was trying to murder me every time I turned. I'm going to have to mess with the setup some for this one.

3. Renault Megane (Lancer) - 2:16.813
The Megane was good in the corners, great off the corners, and ok down the straights. Nothing I didn't already know. Would be fine with the top two in a draft.

2. Dodge Neon SRT4 (cnd) - 2:15.878
This thing absolutely decimates down the straights. I had the setup pretty good, it was only a little slower than the Megane in the turns. I wasn't using a turbo at all to get a less insane powerband.

1. Volvo C30 (Mel) - 2:15.868
If the Neon demolishes the straightaways, the Volvo beats up the curves and takes their lunch money. It was able to make up all the time plus a hundredth of a second on the Neon. Need a teammate, Mel? :sly:

I don't have a BMW so I couldn't test it.

Why don't we try some laps at tracks that are actually on the schedule. 💡 Suzuka spreads everything out, and you're biased.

*irrelevant data*

I don't have a BMW so I couldn't test it.

All this shows is that you can tune the Volvo's understeer out. There's a lot more to these cars than that. We're working on it, today, but it'll be a lot more in depth than "here are four lap times." Sorry, I don't mean to be crude, but, quite the opposite; I wish you hadn't tried to tell us where the new specs are. You are, essentially, wasting your time, giving us nothing but lap times. Sorry again.

It was just something I did out of curiosity. No worries.

And "where the new specs are?" I used the current specs.

They're not finished yet; that's the point. I need to test further. I'm going to be testing now, actually.

Yea! It's a lot of fun!

As long as everyone respects each other... I see this turning into Daytona, but, with braking zones. You can't run flat-out through T2, T3, or T4, under any circumstances, so don't try to push the car in front.

Speed Trap testing underway:

Target top speed (without draft) at High Speed Ring = 232/233 km/h.

Achieved top speeds:

Volvo C30: 232 km/h
BMW 330i: 232 km/h
Renault Mégane: 235 km/h
Volkswagen Golf VI R: 239 km/h
Volkswagen Scirocco R: 245 km/h

Further testing underway.

Cars marked in red are subject to spec change, effective immediately after testing.

My Scirocco did that!?:boggled:

Yes. Even at the 256 hp spec, it's noticeably faster than the Civic and the Volvo.

I'll continue to break down the specs tomorrow, after a bike ride. :)

And, I'll do WRC and ITCC videos... And I'll still have time to watch Castle... I hope. Someone kidnapped the girl from my avatar this week?!

My mom watches Castle, too. And it looks like I may have something to look forward to at High Speed Ring and Daytona Road Course. I admit my reaction time on the standing starts still needs work, though.

High Speed Ring's the exception to every ITCC rule. Like, for example, polarbear345 will never win a race; he made a good teammate last season, but, ran out of luck every race... *insert slammed into wall at Rome*

I guess even race fans love to quote the wit and words of comedian Ron White.
