When I made that post exactly nine months ago, the X5 4.8is had not yet debuted, nor had the G55 or the new ML55. The old ML55 is quick but I'm not sure of the exact numbers. I stand by that statement given the date.

The 4.8is weighs 5,090 pounds. :sly: Yet someone calls it UNDERrated? :dopey:

Yeah, lookswise, the Saturn Vue isn't going to win the attention of someone with at least 0.01% taste in cars. With GM looking to Honda to supply the engine for it, do you think it's a win or a loss for GM looking to Honda? You have to get power from somewhere, so is this more of GM can't make better engines themselves, or giving Honda credit for the engine deal?

Will they be using the 3.5 of the od/pilot?

Another Q...Now that the RL is out is it the new fastest Acura or is the TL still top dog?

RL's got 300HP and 260ft/lbs w/ SH-AWD which can send 100% of the power to the rear wheels r/l depending on traction but it weights 3984 lbs

TL's got 270hp and 238 ft/lbs which is FWD and weights 3472 MT and 3500+ auto

How pathetic is GM...now they have to buy their engines from Honda to have a decent powerplant?

In December 1999, Honda reached an agreement with General Motors Corporation (GM) to supply GM with Honda's V6 ULEV engine and transmission, and Isuzu, a GM Group company, to provide Honda with diesel engines for Honda vehicles bound for the European market. The contract this time to supply diesel engines is in accordance with that agreement and stipulates that Isuzu will provide approximately 5,000 engines to Honda through March of 2002 and another 15,000 engines annually commencing in April for Civics to be sold in the European market.

They will be and have been for about 18 months.

NSX has been the quickest car at Acura since 1991. I don't know what's fastest though I assume NSX. A manual TL is much quicker than an RL though.

The NSX is still the top in terms of speed, but everything is fast catching up, even the accord is near that level.

Dodge viper is the most underrated, nobody appreciates it and all they can do is sit and hate on how little HP/L output it has, even through it performs great.

So most of you all think the Saturn Vue V6 is the most underrated vehicle? The reason why I've been backing up off the Vue is because I'm not a Saturn person. Performance-wise, I'm baffled. Stunned. I think if Saturn can get its styling done better, it win my vote a little more.

I think all of GM is underrated. You may poke jokes at them and complain about their cars (like I do most of the time) but dangit, you have to admit they're trying almost as hard as Hyundai to get people to drive as many of their cars as possible. And think about it: If they were purposely trying to trail behind the competition, they wouldn't have made the Chevy Cobalt as good as it is, prices aside. You think Bob Lutz wants a four-speed automatic in all their cars? I don't think so! You have to think about the troubles they face trying to balance value with high quality materials. What's considered "average" by Toyota is probably expensive for GM, so they have to go for lower-grade materials to keep prices low.

Personally, I think the Pontiac Aztek and the Saturn ION are the most underrated vehicles. There's good behind what you call an ugly design (I kind of like them IMO) and I see them everywhere here in Vermont. If they were truely bad vehicles (see an ION review in a 2003 issue of Car and Driver), then why would people buy them? No matter how bad a car may be in your opinion, they have to be better than cars made ten, or even five, years ago.

You and I may still joke about GM, but they sure are trying their best to grab consumers. I almost feel sorry for them, so I do give their cars some credit. 👍

I'm not an Aztec person. A very underated car is the Ford Contour SVT. My dad used to own one;awesome  . Another good one is almost any Mercedes AMG, but specifically the CLK55.

the old k-cars. with a turbo swap from a daytona, leabron, caravan, omni, or spirit those light as cars hual more ass then you would ever want to know. one guy gary donovan has a relian in the mid 10s with vids to prove it

Speaking of Azteks, this is pretty under rated. You have an Aztek with a 427 motor out of a C5R. Sleeper anyone? Well I guess not, but still really cool.

Sorry for the crappy pictures I took them at my brother robotics competition last year.

And here is my dad's friends S-10 with a 350 in it. All fiberglassed panels as well. It goes 0 to Sweet Jesus in pretty damn quick.

Golf R32 is really slow, you can get a new EVO or STI for less, which are alot faster.

Maxima and TL are both good cars.
SRT4 are should be on this list. People break into 13's stock, easily.
WRX's are very slow. Slower than the Maxima and TL. But then again, couple G's later, you got a beast.

How about the Mazdaspeed Protege? It isn't very powerful, but it still gets a touch of help with a Callaway sourced turbocharger and intercooler. It's nearly as fast as the SRT-4 (in the corners) but the explosive power of the Neon trounces it.

An Aztec with a 427????!!!!!!

*nods about SVT Contour* Someone is selling a flat black one with 5 speed manual. Leather seats, full gauging (white backgrounds) including 160 mph speedometer.

And the Taurus SHO models? The 1998 one had a 32 Valve V8, did it not?

I also believe the Shelby Daytona from 1985 was vastly underated.

Its still a piece of crap Saturn. Try getting in an accident in it. How pathetic is GM...now they have to buy their engines from Honda to have a decent powerplant?

are the saturn body panels still plastic? that was always a big drawback in my opinion. So they dont dent when you kick em.....how do they crash? Ive seen a few wrecked ones, wasnt pretty.

Im pretty sure the body panels aren't what protect you in a crash.

And GM has a 3.6 dohc v6 with 255 hp that they could have used. It was probably just cheaper to do a deal with honda at the time.

I wouldn't call mid 14's very slow. That's pretty quick in my book.

Anyway, I gonna say the cobalt SS. Lotta people have already been dogging the succesor to the cavalier, saying it's "not reliable, has a crappy interior, wont last as long as a honda, handling sucks". I gonna keep an I on this one and see how it does.

86-87 T-Type and Turbo T, everyone knows the bad ass all black Grand National and it's reputation but believe me people are totally clueless when they see a base Regal with a full bench and column shift  Most of them think you're packing either a 305 or a 307 :D Looks like the typical old man's grandpa car. Top of the food chain sleeper.

Here's something I've been thinking. Would you say the Ferrari 360 Modena is pretty underrated? I think it's pretty capable even if it isn't as powerful as its bigger brother, the Ferrari F430. It is also quite lovely from almost any angle. Some even call it a baby Ferrari (unlike that April Fool's Joke) thread in Auto News).

So, Ferrari 360 Modena = underrated? What do you think?

Underrated? A Ferrari, underrated? Are you joking, or do you really believe what you've just said?

The 360 is no more underrated than any other Ferrari. That is to say most people love them unconditionally.

If anything the Modena is overrated by virtue of being a Ferrari.

Same goes for the Civic mentioned by videogame addict. It's Honda: it is overrated by default.

Are you serious, Ferrari and under rated in a sentence that is not "That Ferrari is not under rated at all." You do realize stock a Ferrari will take many of the cars on the road today.

Well you are one of the many cars it won't beat, but if you have a Ferrari it's basically a status symbol.
