Worth getting an Xbox One for this game?

Well I don't think anyone is necessarily claiming that Forza is a better sim per se. I have project cars on the PS4 and it's a really good sim. Unfortunately, it's not much fun with a controller (like I said earlier I don't have a wheel). Dirt is really good on the PS4 even with the controller. So is Driveclub - though again not a sim like p cars. I've heard Assetto suffers from poor controls with the ds4 as well so I'm not all that interested. If I had a wheel set up it would be different...

I have AC for Xbox 1 and if it was a game like FM or GT i would not play anything else, but this is why i love the FM and GT series. Yea they might not have the hardcore physics such as AC but it has the complete package for me.

You don't need to tell me that. I've had wheels in the past. In fact I was an early adopter back in my GPL league racing days and in the early days of Iracing. I love force feedback wheels with good sims - it really is a whole different level of immersion for a driving sim. But, alas...I'm just not all that into it anymore. I don't have the drive or commitment to not only spend the money on the kit, but also to devote a substantial amount of space and energy to it all. I just want to sit on the couch and have a bit of fun and get a bit of the thrill of driving awesome cars around great tracks. Forza (and Driveclub too actually) pretty much do that for me...

I think some of you might hate this comment but i would suggest keeping your PS4 and buy Assetto Corsa if you are serious about sim racing. AC is by far better than many other racing games in term of physics, realism, and force feedback. i dont mean other games are bad though. For fun racing with AIs and stunning graphics and crazy sound, get Project Cars as well.

I have tried GT series, Forza series, Project Cars, and Assetto Corsa. I have autocross, time trials in real life before starting sim racing because real life racing is too expensive.

He need not hold on to his PS4 - the same game is on XB1 as well.

Forza is not even in the sim pool - this stark realization dawned on me once I really got into PCARS and they say AC has gone even a step further.

My X1 version of CARS handles beautifully. Control is about perfect now - very close to Forza, minus all the hand holding/aids. Shoot me a PM and I've be happy to share my setup.

I share those sentiments - when I'm engrossed in CARS, I get lost in the driving for hours and hours. But every now and then, I need a dose of road cars and better quality car audio + locked 60fps... there it is, Forza!

Yeah I'll probably download PCars on the X1 since it's free with gold anyway and give it a try. I couldn't find a way to get rid of the twitchiness on PS4...

I tried every setting under sun for Pcars controls. They're all ****. I thought having the elite controller would help.

@BoneSawTX:

Set controller input to 3
Opp. lock help OFF
Visual wheel filtering OFF
Soft steering dampening ON
Controller filtering sensitivity 70
Speed sensitivity 35
Steering sensitivity 30
Brake/throttle sensitivity 15
ALL deadzones at 0

You're all set. Just remember PCARS is a different kind of beast and has a much deeper and intuitive engine than Forza. You'll have to be on your toes. Also experiment with steering ratios. I prefer to keep mine in the center or skewed more toward Fast.

A bit of background: I've been a GT player for a while, and I already own a PS4. However, GT Sport isn't really the game I'm looking for and I don't want to wait for GT7, especially since a game like FM6 already exists.

So, what are your thoughts? Worth buying the console just for FM6 and the future?

I bought an XBOX One just for the Porsche DLDC Pack in Forza Motorsport 6, and I don't regret it at all, The only thing about Forza Motorsport 6 is it is excellent for Offline racing, you get over 450 cars, Classics, Race cars, Street cars, A ton of track in a variety of locations, I even bought A TX wheel servo that I use with my T300. but the biggest negative is there is NO Regulations or Race Penalties in the Online races, A lot of guys cutting corners, A lot of guys wrecking on the straights, not checking their blind spots before changing lanes, it is A mess, but XBOX ONE now has Clubs, so I created Autosport Clean Sim racing Club and we have about 27 members and meet every weekend and have A clean blast. but the regular Multi-Player Lobby is trash.

I now have P CARS on the XBOX ONE as free download for having GOLD membership. So now I have two titles on my XBOX ONE:lol:

And by the way there will be NO GT7! GT Sport is Next Gen, Kaz said GT 1-6 is Old Gen that series is gone bye bye.

Picked up a blue Xbox one S last night specifically for my first taste of Forza. I have it all set up and have forza 5 and 6 downloaded and installed. I'm in the uncomfortable "learning my way around the new kit" phase. I've never owned an Xbox. It's been all PlayStation or Nintendo to this point.

Some thoughts...

- I was stunned to find a couple AA batteries in the box for the controller! How quaintly old school! Lol. Needles to say I went out and got a rechargeable battery pack today. Yeesh!

- is it just me or is the Xbox OS just horribly designed? I mean half the time I can't tell which of the endless boxs and icons I have highlighted. I'm sure some of it is just newness but it sure seems to lack much in the way of intuitiveness.

- do I really have to play through a tedious career mode before I can actually use all the toys I just dropped a hundred bucks on?? Really? I just hate career mode grinding in racing games. Look, I'm 50 years old. I don't want to pretend to be a professional driver working his way up through the ranks. I want to pretend to be a wealthy middle-aged dude who has dozens of cars at his disposal and can afford to buy track time at any track he wants! Let me just choose to unlock everything please! I'm running out of time here for cripe sake! Lol...

- hmmm...I'm surprisingly underwhelmed by the forza visuals. I was expecting to be blown away based on vids and screens I've seen. Not that it doesn't look good of course but not quite what I was expecting. Very smooth though! And that's more important to me.

- The controls I love though! Very smooth and non-twitchy...which is exactly what I was wanting since I'm stuck with no wheel for the time being.

But I'm still figuring this new world out so some of these thoughts will likely change with famiarity.

I feel you on that, I'm 50 as well and all grinded out from GT 1-6. I had about 30 Million in credits on FM6 all kinds of Sponsor decal I painted, and A ton of liveries I painted and can't use them even to this day because I had Sync errors, I hope you never get this on the XBOX ONE because all you can do is start over from the beginning. The GT Sport really looks good but I'm NOT looking forward to the GT Grind, That's why I LOVE Project CARS and Assetto Corsa, Full access without the grind, and it's far more realistic to a real race Weekend.

I just started playing FM5 and so far.....it's easily the best and most realistic racing experience I've ever had. AC/pcars/GT all have some kind a fairly large issue, FM5 doesn't.
In AC everything floats, understeers, and oversteer is almost impossible to catch, nothing like a car.
GT is similar to AC, but not as refined.
Pcars just seemed like scraps.

FM5, the cars I've driven actually respond properly so far. Steering inputs and physics, particularly involving suspension and how cars behave once the rear kicks loose, are so much better than any other game I've ever played.

I'm gonna make an official rant about how great FM really is, and I suggest anyone on here asking remember THIS IS A GT WEBSITE.
Yes there is bias, my only regret is not realizing that myself sooner. Find a Forza site where people gush about GT.

So yes, yes, yes. And never look back.

Edit:
As far as I can tell, it appears to be exactly what I always wished GT would become. Improvements across the board.

FM5 is my favorite in the franchise - I believe it was a high point in terms of car audio and overall sound stage, visuals and oh yeah, PHYSICS!

Best-feeling 'realistic' console racing game I've played to date. Man, they dialed back the physics noticeably in FM6 - that still irks me a bit to this day. FM5 is a gold mine and a bit of a national treasure because the simulation is just that damn good. Enjoy!

P.S: These guys better get their act together by not leaning more towards arcade when FM7 hits shores.

That's disappointing to hear I was planning on FM6, I might just grab some FM5 dlc and wait for FM7 then.
This game's just great.
I'd currently say fm5 is worth the XB1S and wheel alone. (G920) (650usd total console and wheel+shifter with tax)

I saw Forza 6 as an improvement in terms of physics though in audio they went backwards.

Physics were "tightened" and made less nuanced to make the game more ahem.. 'accessible' and easier to adapt to, so yeah, from a gameplay perspective, an improvement. Sound... *face palm*... they did go backwards. That age old obsession with car count...

You should absolutely not skip FM6 because even though it may be a little thin in quality compared to the previous iteration, it is rich in content. You might want to pick it up for the content alone (twice the number of tracks and cars) but be prepared to spend close to $150 or more to have access to all the tracks and cars.

I've only ever played Forza 5 and 6 with a wheel, 5 was a lot more difficult but didn't come off as realistic. Forza 6 however felt easier yet more realistic to me, you could see this when driving everyday cars within their limits, in 6 they were predictable as you'd expect them to behave. In 5 I remember even the little cars could be a nightmare to drive at times.

Yet this is all pretty subjective, your account and mine. I will kindly give your opinion more weight than mine to be honest since I was a horrible driver at the time I was playing FM5 and I was coming fresh from GT and its very permissive physics/damage model. I will have to revisit the game when I return to Australia and see if my impression on the game has changed.

👍

I'll hold you to it then.
