Would a rear spoiler give me an advantage in 1/4mile?

Read my post again.. I state very clearly that I don't think it's like dead weight.. I say that I think it feels more "dead weightish", compared to what a spoiler should do to the car IRL.
That's a huge difference.

In one of my first posts here, I can defenetly say that I was a bit too aggressive with stating that aero = dead weight. I'll give you that.. But if you read my later posts, it's pretty clear that I don't think it's programmed as dead weight.. But I stick to that it feels more dead weightish than how aero should work irl.
But that's my personal opinion on the matter. I don't present it as facts.
I'm doing tests and discuss from the results I get. 👍

Large quantities of rear downforce would lead to oversteer characteristics as well as traction benefits, akin to RR cars (RuF).

That would only happen with "dead mass", not dead weight.

I can see that. I'm only trying to help. In layman's terms, weight and mass are interchangeable. However, they are very different things and I'm not sure if that difference is being acknowledged here. It needs to be to understand where GT5 is right or wrong.




So basically, if I set up an example?

Car A: 1400kg, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500 rpm
Car B: 1400kg, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500rpm
Both cars are identical, the only difference is that in Car A, the driver is alone without any luggage, while Car B is packed with 1 driver, 4 passanger and loads of stuff in the trunk, making Car B much heavier.
So, the cars end up side by side at a traffic light, both drivers want to win this street drag race.
At the given time:
Car A: 1500kg, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500 rpm
Car B: 2000kg, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500 rpm

How will this drag race end?
If it's not because of the higher weight, why does Car B loose this one?
Remember, both cars are identical. And for the sake of the example, remove loss of traction, weight distribution etc.

Let's add Car C to that example. It's 1500 kg in mass, but it has a device that makes it 2500 kgf (kilogram force) in weight. This device has no other effect, leaving Car C nearly identical to Car A. The line up looks like this then"

Car A: 1500kg, 1500 kgf, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500 rpm
Car B: 2000kg, 2000 kgf, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500 rpm
Car C: 1500kg, 2500 kgf, 200 bhp @ 6000 rpm, and 300Nm @ 3000-4500 rpm

Car C is the heaviest car, but it is also the quickest to accelerate since it will have the most traction and is tied for least mass. The weight increased its acceleration. Car B on the other hand is the slowest because it has the most mass. Car B actually has more grip than Car A, but that grip is wasted on pushing more mass.
