FORUM whats up.

Saw on a bunch of other posts that Kaz had really wanted to work on GT5 for two more years before releasing it, but I guess it wasn't a good option? :sick:

So my question is, would you have rather waited two more years for GT5 to come out and probably have the features that we all have wanted to see in the game? :drool:

Or would you just take GT5 as we have it now, "unfinished" as some people see it? :grumpy:

Hopefully theres no thread like this already!
 
Did you see the meltdown here after each delay announcement last year?

Some nutjob would have burnt down PD headquarters if they had to wait two more days, let alone years.
 
what could we have done? I asure you that you'll wait more than that for gt6

I would have waited if they decided to delay it for two years, but I don't think that was the right option. The game is pretty good as is and I'd rather they fix the issues while it's out rather than make us wait until it was utterly perfect for a very similar result.
 
I really doubt that PD would be able to finish it if they had two or four more years. It's about keeping focus and not trying to do everything at once. The latter approach is the one PD took while the game was unreleased. They are slowly picking up the pieces but I think that's mostly the result of user feedback rather than a step towards their vision which I must say lacks some transparency.
 
PD kept moving the goalposts for reasoning that, much like DNF, would have conspired to make the game be constantly delayed. 2 years would have turned into 3, which would have turned into 4; and eventually the game would have been a launch game for the PS4 rather than a PS3 system seller. Then it would have missed that launch date.





Now, I would have waited anyways, because what the hell else would I have done; but pay no mind to the idea that it would have actually come out in November of 2012 or whatever. If Sony hadn't put their foot down, we never would have gotten GT5; and it would have released as as disorganized, jumbled mess even compared to what it was. The game as it came out already reeked massively of feature creep, and that gets worse as time goes on rather than better.
 
7 years for GT5 would've been beyond ridiculous. My answer is an obvious flat-out no.

Two more years would be ridiculous! Even if PD was given two more years, I doubt we'd see a finished product by then. And even if it was a finished product, I don't think it would have been worth any more delays. PD's just been too ambitious, and they seem to have trouble prioritizing their work. So no, two more years is crazy.

To me the game is perfect, it was perfect on day 1. I suppose my definition of perfect just moves up a notch with each new update :)

Gran Turismo is the best racing game series ever made and it always will be in my eyes. Forza can only dream of taking the GT crown!
 
I can't answer that without knowing for sure what the game would've been like if it WAS released two years later.
I would have still bought it assuming I hadn't sold my PS3 by then.
 
Yes, there would have been no choice but to wait. Now with this whole waiting game, i am ready to wait another 6 years for gt6 to be released.

Its been one year and we still have a ton of stuff missing. Granted there are other games out there that aren't perfect as well, but it did take them only two years to make the game. And they already have DLC!!!
You'd think PD or Sony would be motivated to get a DLC out for monetary purposes...

7 years would have been laughable man, and to think some of us bought launch ps3s SPECIFICALLY for GT5. :guilty:
 
Waiting two more years would have made little difference. Its been 1 year and there hasn't been any substantial updates since its release except for Spa. I'd go out on a limb and say there wont be much more updates for the next year.

So I'd rather have had the game in its state when it was released rather than waited two more years for a few extra tracks and a few extra cars.

Definitely wasn't perfect at the start, but I agree completely with everything else.

With each update, GT5 got perfecter and perfecter lol.

I don't see why I wouldn't still get GT5 if it came out next year, instead. If anything, I would have bought FM3 + 4 for the wait. Good move, Sony.
 
I've had almost a year of fun with GT5. I don't see any other racing game that would have tempted me in the meantime, so how would I or anyone have benefitted from a later release...?
 
2 different racing series got taken out from GT5's development including free roam (I think). Maybe we would've got the flag system, livery editor (was mentioned), more premiums, more tracks, stig racing challenge, better a-spec events. If so, I would have waited 2 years probably. But in a way hopefully this will give them more time that they'll prepare development for GT6 soon and implement these features on the ps4 (hopefully).
 
PD is sick if they give GT6 for PS4. I bought a :censored:ing PS3 for GT1, GT2, GT5 and GT6.

Problem is this Christmas or early months of next year rFactor 2 will be ready so no point to delay GT5 further. I complained the lack of some features but without it would be much worse.

^ Pretty much nailed it. Honestly guys more time would not be much use when PD had poor management. In my opinion Gran Turismo did have enough cars and tracks, it was just presented to us in an inefficient manner. Look at the way GT3 was presented. It was so simple yet perfectly functional and fun. When comparing the two games it's obvious GT5 has failed miserably in such way.

I am glad that PD are getting back on track now. Kaz is paying attention to what we want and seems to be more focused than before. This evidence will prove that exiting times lie ahead for the future of Gran Turismo.
 
You changed the question in your post, darn you, so I voted yes.

But no, I'd rather have the situation we have now. If all I had to race was GT4 and Prologue or Forza 4, I'd have been an unhappy camper. I really doubt that rFactor 2 would do much for me. I just can't get into dry, flavorless PC sims. The updates Kaz and the team are giving GT5 make it Christmas all over again when they're released.

But if PD had worked on GT5 another two years, sure, I'd wait for it.
 
I couldve and would've waited another two years, maybe.

But that's not to say I don't enjoy gt5 in the state it is/was, because its the game I always come back to.

James Cameron took his time. Nobody really knew about Avatar until it was nearing it's development. Time shouldn't be a factor when you have a genius working on a project. If Kaz was given another 2 years with his entire team...

It's been a year with serious updates. This past year the majority of the team was working on GT6.

GT5 was unfinished in Kaz's eyes. Another 2 years would have finished the game in Kaz's eyes. It's been a year of a small part of the team working on GT5 through online updates. The majority of them are working on GT6.

Nobody gets this?
 
They could update it for the next 20 years, it still won't fix the core problem. PD's lost their sense of scope and direction with GT5. Short of outright replacing major portions of the game it'll always feel unfocused and somewhat rushed.
 
That's because Kaz had them spend a great deal of time working on the core of the game, the foundation of it. Look at the jump from GT1 to GT2 and so forth. GT1 took as long as GT5. Work was easier back then, but there was hardly enough people working on GT1 to call it a class.
