Ford bias aside? Really?

The Mustang II is absolute garbage. It was a Pinto wearing a Mustang suit and thought it was good. I honestly can't think of anything redeeming about the car and anyone who would buy a Mustang II over an actual Mustang to to make a fast street machine is an idiot.

Because a C4 trans, 302 with some bolt ons and a 2,800lb car isn't a decent setup

You can say what you will about it but I don't see it that way. Notice I said cheap...you can pick up a II in great shape for about $1,000 if not slightly more. That said, have you even been in one? I wouldn't knock it until you get in one. They really aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

Personally I like it because it's just out there. It turns heads. It's different and you don't see a lot of them anymore. Granted, I would prefer another model but I'd take one of these over a Fox ANY day.

And I hate the fact when people say it wasn't a Mustang. Like it or not, it IS a part of Mustang history and it DID sell more than any other model TO DATE excludng the '64-'66s. Just because you don't consider it to be a Mustang doesn't mean it isn't.

Woah! This thread is moving fast!

BMW SUVs vs. Mini Countryman: Hmmmm..... I'll take the Mini and the X5.

Beeblebrox237
BMW Z4 sDrive 35i M Sport

Porsche Boxster

Used Maserati Granturismo

Used Porsche 997 Turbo

Easy, the 997 Turbo and get some performance mods and push it around 650-690hp. ;)

Dodge Durango vs. Ford Explorer Sport: Tough one here.... Since I like them both, I'll take both. :)

Chevy Monza vs. Mustang Cobra II: Hmmmm.... I'll go for the 'Stang since I like it and drop a 350ci and a 5 speed in it or maybe a 427ci. :trouble:👍

Good luck getting a 427 to fit haha, let alone a transmission behind it haha.

Gotta say thanks to fabrication along with the money, time, resources put into it. And keep in mind on one wild project car at the end .

But if not, a 350ci would do justice, I like to think about wild engine swaps or drivetrain swaps for cars sometime. :)

Durango vs Explorer: Durango looks pretty ghastly so I'll take the Ford.

Mustang II vs Monza Spyder: Monza. It's better looking and is named after the Italian track.

Ford bias aside, I diasgree. They ride pretty smoothly, handling isn't terrible, and the engine is extremely reliable and has a wide availability of aftermarket that can make it a fast street machine for very cheap.

Doesn't the fact that you have to buy aftermarket parts just to make it fast tell you everything?

Also its catastrophically hideous, the "handling isn't terrible"? Show it a few roads around here it will flop around like canal boat, and it will probably be out dragged by a little Renault Clio 182 cup.

You shouldn't have to add aftermarket parts to a car just to make it good. It should be good in the first place.

Edit: I just looked up the stats for this car, I think the V8 powered Mustang II goes from 0-60mph in 9.5 seconds. The Clio 182 cup isn't even a fair match.
Hell even my 1.6 Honda civic will give it a run for its money in a straight line. That's pathetic

The Monza was actually raced internationally, I don't think the Mustang II was in any significant capacity.

It looked damn cool too.

Only Mustang II race car I've ever heard of is Charlie Kemp's IMSA Cobra II:

Let's face it they're both asthmatic "oil crisis" cars. So I don't know why everyone's focusing so heavily on the II being so. :odd:

Legendary badges come with a price to those who fall behind the badge.

BMW X1 sDrive28i ~ $34,000

Mini Countryman S John Cooper Works ~ $35,000

2011 BMW X3 xDrive28i - 6,945 Miles - $35,000

2010 BMW X5 xDrive30i - 60,123 Miles - $35,000
^ I've just driven the X128i M-Sport, it was pretty decent but it somehow feels detached (maybe because the DCT), like a jacked up 1er (similar feel in contrast to the Mazda 3 & CX-5). The X530i is too big for me unless its an X535d (just like my best friends family cruiser). I don't see much point on the X328i. And the JCW although FWD based AWD, but its still AWD and offers a 6M/T.

-> So my choice would be the JCW. For the money, you get more vehicle compared to these Bimmers. ;)

I'd take the X5.

*The Mini's a 4 Seater IIRC

The Countryman has five seats now.
^ Doog is right MINI phased out the 4-seat (thank goodness!) and the JCW has a standard 5-seat option. Now the Countryman line makes a bit of sense now.

^ I have to split these sports cars/roadsters into two groups...because of their huge overall performance differences.

Part 1 -> The only hardtop-roadster I would get is the NC Miata Club Roadster Coupe. So the 981 it is.

Part 2 -> 997T all the way, the GT is like a boat in person, plus I see these everywhere now in Vegas. :indiff:

2013 Dodge Durango Citadel - 5.7L V8 - AWD - MSRP $42,345

OR

2013 Ford Explorer Sport - 3.5L V6 Twin Turbo - AWD - MRSP $40,780
^ Why should I get the Explorer Sport when I can get the much cooler Flex Titanium Ecoboost instead? I never like the Explorer at all, the Flex will die because of it. Heck I'd take the new Traverse over the Explorer anyday! Just because of that reason, I like the more rugged Durango instead.

Battle of the smog era Muscle cars!

Chevy Monza Spyder

Ford Mustang Cobra II
^ Although my 1st ever car that I sat on the driver seat was a Mustang-II (2y/o), the King Cobra is still not enough to justify my choice over the Monza. My pick is the Monza, its rarer, and a tad better looking too.

Just a quickie guys:

Corvette C6 ZR1 GT2

BMW Z4 GT2

Ferrari 458 GT2
^ I prefer road cars over race cars anyday. Unless these race cars have license plates on them (ie. Rally Cars or converted street legal race cars). So I pick neither of them.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 GT2 vs. BMW Z4 GT2 vs. Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 - Z4 because it's one of the most modern-iconic cars.

How about another pre-didaly-icament?
Battle of the beheaded.

RenaultSport Spider

Lotus Elise MK1

Mazda MX5

Nissan 370Z

^ I'll scratch the 370Z simply because is wasn't originally built as a roadster, so chassis/frame flex ensures. The Elise Mk.1 is awesome, but you didn't specify what model it is, same goes with the MX-5 Miata!

-> So I'll take the RS Spider. Simply because it's one model/trim, rare, special, and unique '90s oddball track car!
