You're kidding, right? $1000 is just starting to get you a decent bike. I've got a $3000 bike that I've put almost 10k miles on. Bikes equivalant to what the pros use cost about $8000.

Whoa! Must be one hell of a bike 👍

I'll pick the US Falcon

I buy $100 Walmart bikes and call it a day.

No, I'm not kidding. I just buy a typical bicycle for $100 or so and that's the end of it.
I use to like bike riding when I was younger, but I eventually got bored of it and instead decided that I prefer walking.

I prefer riding ATV's like a maniac

But, to answer your question of who would pay $1000 for a bike...my point was, a lot more than you think.

I could go out for a short ride here in the Bay Area on a weekend and easily see over 200 $1000+ bikes. At an organized century (100 miler), you could see 5000 bikes that cost that much. You're implying those people are fools. I'd say those people are perfectly happy paying for that level of quality.

A $100 bike is fine for short (when I say short, I mean sub-1 mile) rides if you're 13 years old or younger, but for anything half-way serious you need to get at least a $500 bike. I have a $650 bike and I used to get the disposable $100 Walmart bikes. Investing in a good bike once is a lot better than investing in a somewhat put together piece of Chinese steel that was built by kids a lot of times. I've had my bike for 3 years. I would've had my 2006 bike (also a decent bike, but not a $1000 bike) still if I didn't outgrow it.

I'd definitely pay $1000 for a bike if I was more into biking, but all I do is 3 miles (at the most, usually) cruises on flat pavement.

Oh, I think I get it now. I just never seen a bike priced that high before and I don't really pay to attention to bikes anymore just simply because they're not worth my time. I apologize for my ignorance.

EDIT: Alright, my turn again.
I've been looking at these 2 cars on used car websites long enough to know that you can get either for around the same price now a days, they're also both quite popular, and I'm pretty sure their performance is about the same.

I think that holds true for most anything you might be into. I'd gladly dump a few thousand on a 1980s three wheeler where as some people would entirely pass on it because they simply don't like them, or aren't into them.

Terminator.

The amount of douchebag M3 drivers you'd show up over here would be massive. And it sounds like a million times better!

Aussie Falcon vs US Falcon: Aussie Falcon as it looks better.

BMW M3 vs Ford Mustang: M3 by a mile because it's a BMW and the Mustang isn't exactly the best model ever made. Also BMW has inline 6

Hulme CanAm Spyder vs. Veritas RS III - CanAm, because the Veritas looks the slightest bit more ugly.

SRT Viper T/A vs. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - T/A.

Ford Mustang vs. Chevrolet Camaro - That's hard, but I'll take the Camaro.

Ford Fiesta XR2 vs. Volkswagen Golf I GTI vs. Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 vs. Renault 5 GT Turbo vs. Citroen AX GTI vs. Fiat Uno Turbo - Wow, ummm...let's break this down. First, the Uno is out because I have no interest in it whatsoever. The AX is out because it's pretty ugly. Then we'll remove the 5 GT. Then the Fiesta. I'm going to go with bias here....the GTI wins. It was my dad's first car and come on, it's a MkI.

Results:
1. Volkswagen Golf GTI
2. Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6
3. Ford Fiesta XR2
4. Renault 5 GT Turbo
5. Citroen AX GTI
6. Fiat Uno Turbo

Maserati Ghibli vs. Cadillac CTS-V - CTS-V, it's one of my favorite cars.

MG Metro 6R4 vs. Peugeot 205 T16 Rally Car - 205, the MG looks so stupid.

Ford Escort RS1600i vs. Volkswagen Golf II GTI vs. Sunbeam-Talbot-Lotus vs. Vauxhall Chevette HSR - Now this is really hard. I'll take the ultimate alliance out. Then the Chevette...it's so ugly. Then.....looks win here. I'll take the Escort.

Results:
1. Ford Escort RS1600i
2. Volkswagen Golf II GTI
3. Vauxhall Chevette HSR
5. Sunbeam-Talbot-Lotus

AMC Hornet X vs. Chrysler Valiant Charger - Valiant, the Hornet's grille annoys me.

Chevrolet Impala SS vs. Ford Mustang vs. Dodge Charger R/T vs. Oldsmobile 442 - Impala by default.

Results:
1. Chevrolet Impala SS
2. Dodge Charger R/T
3. Ford Mustang
4. Oldsmobile 442

Trabant vs. Diamondback Adult Steilacoom CCX Roadbike - Trabant, because it's a car.

Ford Falcon vs. Ford Falcon - Aussie version, it's better looking.

BMW M3 vs. Ford Mustang SVT Cobra - I hate you for doing this.....it's a tie. I don't care about the rules.

Toyota Chaser Tourer V vs. Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 - Chaser.

Toyota Chaser Tourer V vs. Chevrolet Impala SS - Impala.

Toyota vs. Caprice: Both have a good chance at surviving Armageddon, but I've always wanted to get a rough Caprice so I could get a license plate that says "CRAPICE", so Caprice for me.
