The Typhoon is the best looking and easily the most iconic of the four so that it is.

ML55.

The Grand Cherokee 5.9 is not a performance SUV by any stretch of the imagination.

Fixed. I assumed the Grand Cherokee was a performance SUV due to the fact that it was an extremely powerful SUV for the time and some people have cited it as a precursor to the SRT8.

245hp out of a big V8 wasn't anything impressive, even at that time. The Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade (of the late 90s) used a smaller V8 which made more power, and so did the Expedition/Navigator of that time.

A better performance SUV that you could've added in your "would you rather" would be the 1999 Shelby Durango SP360, which used the same 5.9L as the Jeep but made 360hp.

GMC.

If you disregard the Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire from some 20 years earlier, right?

:P

Appreciate the Mustang info, though. ;)
Compare it to what, since "would you rather?" is the title of this thread......? :sly:

Also to note - a former boss back in the 90's owned one. Absolutely screamed! Got to watch her race a GMC Typhoon.

Oldsmobiles that broke new ground for production automobiles.

So there.

Breaking new ground for production automobiles does not mean they are comparable.

com·pa·ra·ble
ˈkämp(ə)rəb(ə)l/
adjective
  1. (of a person or thing) able to be likened to another; similar.

Hope this helps.

Who said vehicles one prefers need to be comparable? I seem to recall an earlier proffer pitted a Jetta against an M3--the only similarities I'm aware of are country of origin and number of wheels.

It was a 325i, not an M3. Also, it was a GLI, not just a run-of-the-mill Jetta. Those two cars are similar in size, performance, value now, etc. Stop fabricating my comparison in an attempt to prove a point.
