WRC Evolved has just been delivered by my friendly postman :)

Anyone else bought this, the latest in the WRC series - I'm hoping it lives up to the fantastic precedent set by the first four games.

I have advise everyone not to get this game.

Having played it this morning I am very disappointed. The game is significantly smaller than its predecessors with only 3 stages per rally (whereas WRC2, 3 and 4 had between 6 and 9 stages per rally). Most of the stages are extremely short as well when compared to WRC2.

It is not awsome, it has cool features and good physics, whats the point though, if the game is over in less than a day?

Rented it yesterday, finished the game this afternoon, unbeleivablely bad.

No replay value either. Because you know it will be over by tomorrow.

Big dissappointment Evos 👎

You finished all the game modes in one day? And there's online mode, good replay value in my opinion.

Online mode, but a lack, and i mean, massive lack of game modes, i can see WRC4 online lasting longer.

Thats the only thin I don't like about WRC5, is that it has only 3 stages per rally and no SSS's (Super Special Stages). But I do enjoy taking the old Group B's out for a spin.

you have to unlock some stages before you can go furter
btw it's a awsome game

Depends what you want.
I have no experience of the previous versions and don't mind the low number of stages.
and i like the rally cross circuit style addition .
I don't like the idiot side- swiping by the competition in such courses, though I am sure others would love that element.

Physics .. an improvement i am told, though i found it not as good as say GT4 at the feeling of contact with the ground. Otherwise good.
oh ... except that my version does not allow even gentle braking during a corner.. the wheels will ( presumably) lock and steering will be lost. You must slow before turning.
I am still not sure that this is correct though it can certainly occur with some cars in reality.

The outstanding feature for me is that with a bit of fiddling with the tv colour settings i get a great and realistic impression of seeing parts of the world. Some of the stages are quite beautiful. the light and time of day well captured. Some of the NZ stages i know are accurate in feeling and look, so i presume the rest are .
love the windscreen, and rain or fog effects .
Just my preference.

and also my version has a random 'locking up' bug. -- almost always as you sit at the start gate. just .. nothing .. Requires reset.
I exchanged the disc and on the first new trial the lock up occurred again .. It may be something in the local version, ( a missing comentator audio track say) or in my use of a driving force wheel. who can say.. ... annoying.

Personally i would like an endless variety of stages, ( impossible of course) but considering the work involved in getting it out every year they have done a good job.

regards David L.

lol, there are so many features that no other game has, in the garage you can push a button to open the hood, doors, hatch/trunk, then hit another button and the car fully dissasembles showing every part on the car , the scenery is awesome, on one track there is a snowmobiler riding around outside the track and the test track is the best out of any game ever, there is a rally course in the middle of a big oval test track and you can drive on both 👍

Interesting subaruman. Yes they do not seem to have copied roads exactly. I read somewhere that they aimed for an impression instead. And fortunately for me anyway, it is that impression which I enjoyed. Getting the right feel of the place.
Perhaps the ps2 , having limited memory, requires that programmers chose between doing either shorter or simplified stages to a high graphic standard, or all of longer stages to a lesser graphic standard?
Since you are a evidently a true rally man subaruman , can you say how many stages there are in NZ in real life ? . I thought there were stages over both islands.
cheers.

Basically, and this is in the reply i got from Evo studios after i complained to them about stages.

"We had many complaints after previous games about how long they game and stages were, we have tried to make it more acciesible for people who want a casual drive"

Oh yeah, so make dam short stages with ultra real physics, thats accesible....

Hi kasabian666 .. doesn't seem to be anyplace for times. I am wondering if 'evolved' will need a seperate section here once more people try it out.
I say that because though some have said it is easy it seems to me that once you really try to get a good time it can become very demanding indeed .
I take it you have managed to surpass the evos' best times chart?
I find it takes memorizing of the stage. If i just rip into a stage my time will start about 8th position, then with a bit of effort go to 4th and it takes a while for a poor driver like me to get further.
have fun ..
glum .

Rally Evolved forums are DEad ?? playstation has one and theres been no posts on it for at least 5 days? Its weird how such a GREAT game has (or seems to have) no real following?

This game aint easy though, its the most demanding WRC game to date, with the Driving Aids turned >off< which is the way I play it. Completed the Expert level some time ago and no am trying to get 1st on all stages, getting there slowly, stuck on turkey stage 1 at the moment by 2 seconds :(

Unfortunately can't get online with the game so don't no how much interest is there ?

thanks for your reply man,, I'll post up some of my quicker times later 👍

what that final time of yours on sweden stage2 ?

My favourite Sweden stage is Hagfors, have done a 03:05.86 on that using the Citreon WRC car.

What do mean by 'Good Setups'?
I usually stick to the Deafult myself, the only thing I chance sometimes is the Gear ratio's.

Have you managed to get top on all the stage high scores? I can't do Turkey (SS1) Simena, still a few seconds off that one...

Btw did you send me a gt4 lap by mistake?

I have rented it and I like it very much, the GR B cars are a welcome addition and they're handling is very convincing. The gameplay is very deep. I hope we will see other rally-icons in future editions.
