It would seem that nothing has been signed between the FIA and Red Bull for the promotional side of the WRC.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/104770

Whether this is because they are still trying to sort out the mess that was left by North One Sport, or because Mateschitz and Todt are having a difference of opinion remains to be seen. I'm hoping it's the former - the article implies that Todt wants to bring back long-distance events and Mateschitz is resisting it, so I hope he doesn't want to go in the opposite direction and turn it into an "extreme sport".

That said, Mateschitz is smart enough to realise that the WRC can't really go back to the days of major manuacturer support, and seems to have identified manufacturer teams with commercial backing as the way forward.

A lot of info, thank you prisonermonkeys 👍.

A nice video I found :

A full rally from the driver's view.
RIP Bohuslav Ceplecha.

Looking to get back to following the WRC next year and seeing some coverage in the light of North One Sport ending. Hasn't been the same since Dave stopped showing the WRC.

This deal, I hope, will open hopefully new doors for WRC fans who don't have Motors TV so fingers crossed something does get sorted. If it does it is probable that live.redbull.tv will be the platform to show live coverage of the WRC.

I've found a few testing videos in the lead-up to Monte Carlo (which is only 33 days away now).

Mads Ostberg:

Jar-Matti Latvala:

And also some photos from Ford:

I don't know why they're using last year's livery instead of a blank testing livery.

I think the contract between red bull and citroen end the 31/12/2012.

A little video from the test of VW and Sebastien Ogier.

François Delecour have tested the Mini WRC for the Monte Carlo too 👍.

This will be my first rally in 2013, I hope we will get a lot of snow .

Again sorry for my bad english ...

EDIT : Today 2 crash for novikov and the fiesta wrc.
Brian Bouffier in a ds3 wrc (PH sport) at the start of the monte carlo.

Novikov (I think it's time we started referring to him as "Novik-off") was spotted wearing the same overalls as Mads Ostberg during the Fiesta tests this week, leading some to believe that he has signed a deal to drive for Qatar M-Sport.

If my knowledge and past experiences are correct. Citroen test their cars in rally spec colours rather than having a separate testing livery.

Maybe I spoke too soon - Malcolm Wilson is apparently considering Theirry Neuville for the final Qatar M-Sport seat.

That said, I've heard that neither Neuville nor Novikov has the budget to do a full season, but they could share a car.

Yes 👍.

Some media in belgium confirm the rumor of thierry in the second seat of the Qatar M-Sport team :

http://www.dhnet.be/sports/moteurs/article/418239/thierry-neuville-signe-avec-ford.html

The program of thierry with citroen racing for the 2013 season was very bad (only 9 rounds). But Nasser and Thierry are very good friend, and if Thierry need a budget to be in the Qatar M-sport team Nasser can give him one.

It exists!

Despite some speculation to the contrary - namely that video I posted with the poorly-synchronised sound - we finally have proof that the Hyundai i20 WRC is actual and whole:

It's currently in testing. If it runs in 2013, then it probably won't appear until the end of the season. Hyundai have said that they will make a full attempt in 2014.

Thanks for the link, it was a great video.

The final entry list for Monte Carlo has been released:

http://www.rallylink.it/pdf/2012/monte_2013.pdf

No major changes, aside from a few extra WRC-2 and WRC-3 entries. The only significant change is that Michał Kościuszko and the Lotos Team WRC (formerly entered under the name Bruno di Pianto, the team manager of the ex-Mini Portugal team) is now considered a manufacturer entry and is therefore eligible to score manufacturer points.

This thread should be renamed - the IRC is morphing into the European Rally Championship for 2013. It appears certain Robert Kubica will be driving either a Ford or Citroen next year, and Francis Delecour will be driving in 10 events.

Autosport seem convinced he'll be driving a Fiesta RRC for most of the rounds, Citroen were very keen on taking him too.

btw I guess he is going to ERC instead of WRC2 because more rounds are closer to home and results will get more publicity.

As autosport said, ERC has Rally Poland, an obvious publicity draw.

Actually, in the WRC-2, he would only need to do seven events - including one outside Europe - to be elegible for the championship.

It's more likely that he's doing the ERC rather than WRC-2, because he'd be competing in the top class of the ERC, but only the second class of the WRC by comparison.

More events are better for him though because he loves driving and getting experience in rallying is important, money won't be a problem for him either because sponsors will be lining up to get their name on his comeback.

That's what I meant with his results will get more publicity, WRC support classes will only have a tiny portion of the highlights show (wherever that ends up being for 2013) whilst ERC has a Eurosport deal sorted which will show the S2000 cars (plus RRC and R5) as the main attraction.

The entry list for the ERC on Wikipedia has Kubica competing for M-Sport with the Fiesta RS RRC.

Also what is good for him in the ERC is that I see a considerable percentage of the drivers and teams are either Polish or Czech so for me valuable insight in rallying can be better gained in the ERC for me than the WRC-2.

What about the funding? Assuming both see some injection of money that is. Will the WRC-2 category see more or less financial support than the ERC? Even though both run for me identical cars.

The references at the bottom of that page just link to an article predicting that he would drive in ERC though, shouldn't be on Wikipedia tbh.

If anybody is interested, there is a Fantasy WRC going right now. I would make a thread and have a GTP Fantasy WRC, but I'm not entirely sure how these 'fantasy' things work. Do you just pick drivers and if they race well, you get points?

Should be. Same as Fantasy Football I would imagine.

He's going part-time. He's not completely out of the WRC.
