Col De Turini has already claimed victims in it's first of 3 runs. Jari MLatvala, Juho Hanninen and Evgeny Novikov all crash out and lose wheels in the stage. :( Respect the Turini

Bryan Bouffier has just taken 52s out of Loeb in one stage! Average speed only 59km because the conditions are terrible.

That was the uphill stage aswell... Next stage is the Turini downhill....
Driver interviews on WRC.com radio are great.

Such a shame about Novikov, he was having a brilliant run. Lots of drivers have been saying they couldn't go over 20kph in some parts, even on straights.

This is sounding more and more like a classic rally event...

Why no TV coverage!! :( !!!

Yep I feel like in the 90's when I was listening the radio live of the turini.

Mads Ostberg lost a lot of time after a contact.

Latvala :

EDIT : Stage 16 canceled after burri, 3 spectators injured by falling off a cliff.

:ouch: was that the downhill Col De Turini run cancelled?

Citroen have confirmed on Twitter that the last two stages of Monte Carlo have been cancelled, giving Loeb the win.

I'm not sure as to why the stages have been cancelled, but I'm sure we'll soon find out.

I visited a rally last year in Belgium. The year before that, two spectators are killed. So last year the organization put everything in place to make it safe. But still some people go to dangerous inconvenient places. Or cross the streets between two cars (1 minute intervals) with small kids and a baby strawler. :(

It is a quite different than going to a race circuit. You have to be very aware of what you are doing.

Luckily no serious injuries, shame about the last 2 stages.

Yes, there is more and more accident including spectators in rallying.

Too bad some people act like they are watching a bike race like the tour de france .... 👎
I was at the condroz rally when the crash happened ... and at the sezoen rally last year it's always hard to believe that some people were killed.

I have already seen some mortal crash and I don't want to see one again :nervous:.

hee Accro2008, it was indeed the Condroz Rally. Awesome event.

damn that must be quite a devastating event :( seeing a mortal crash.

3 Spanish spectators fell over and one hurt their leg... :irked:

Apparently it wasn't just them - the WRC website says there were too many spectators and they cancelled on safety grounds.

Must be a pain the rear for the spectators of SS17 and 18.

WRC.com has since been updated - apparently, spectators were blocking the roads to the stages, so the cars couldn't get through.

Hopefully it was just bad luck for the sport and not start of something like WRC hooliganism.

No, it was spectators trying to get into the stage, but there were traffic jams that couldn't be cleared in time for the competitors to make the scheduled start.

Oh I see, bad luck then. I found it also quite difficult to get a decent view. Luckily I went with someone who has been visiting rallies for 30 years. His advice: do not try to watch the start of a stage. Go to the middle and further sections. Yes, you have to drive longer, but it will result in more viewing time because you do not get caughth by traffic jams. But it takes quite some experience and local road knowledge.

Ouch! as long as they are Ok, this looks like a heavy impact....

off WRC topic for a second, I found this video of some Classic Rally Cars from an event in Killarney Ireland this past December 2012. Thought you guys like it. Those MkII's still stand the hair on the back of my neck going through Molls Gap, one of the best stages in Ireland, seen a few WRC cars fly though there too back in the 90's. Some great footage in this video, Enjoy 👍

Molls gap is one legendary stage 👍.

In one month, there will be the spa legend, the most famous historic rally in belgium with some great driver ( Thierry Neuville, François Duval, Blomqvist, Waldegaard, Vatanen ...) and some great cars ( Lancia Stratos, Lancia 037, Manta 400, MK2 BDA ... ). All the stages are around the track of Spa-Francorchamps. It's one of my favorite event of the year 👍.

that looks like an awesome motorsports event. And really close by. I might just go there.

I predict that Loeb will win his tenth consecutive World Rally Championship with 100 points from his four rounds, and somehow nobody else will manage to outscore him.

Petter Solberg will be competing in Rally Sweden via a wildcard in his new Mk II Ford Escort! :D
