Ogier is whinging about the running order. Again. He's the best driver in the best car; running first barely penalises him. "Let them eat cake!" didn't work out too well for Marie Antoinette, either (although there is no evidence that she actually said this).

Looks like Hyundai will be a force to be reckoned with this season.
I wouldn't count on it - Paddon was up there, but only really in contention for the win because Latvala's suspension failed. Hyundai gave the i20 a major overhaul during the off-season in preparation for 2017, upgrading to the five-door version, but Volkswagen barely touched the Polo R.

VW Polo with 2017 Chassis!

Really wish there was a sedan (an actual sedan, not a hatch turned sedan) or coupe in the WRC, the 2017 bodywork would look great on a BRZ.

Except that they would immediately put themselves at a disadvantage - a shorter wheelbase is preferable in rallying.
Very true, and that's the reason for it becoming solely hatchbacks. I've got no problem with hatchbacks personally, but the variety it used to have is missing. :( Too bad the RGT category isn't really that lively. At least there's some Porsche's participating in it.

The entry list for Portugal has been published, with Hayden Paddon promoted to the #3 Hyundai, Sordo filling #4, Abbring making his season début in #10, and Neuville demoted the the fourth entry in #20. After his horrendous run of form, I would be very surprised if Neuville is driving a Hyundai in 2017.

What is it? I can't make out the badge.

And am I the only one who thinks that rear wing looks like they left the boot open by mistake?

That's quite an interesting rear wing design. Looks like it has the largest surface area of the ones seen so far on the other teams 2017 prototypes. Maybe only rivaled by the C3.

I miss the times of big rally cars! They look like all the same today. Though I understand that smaller is better ib that case. To me, the look of the car is as much important as the performance, and a huge spoiler won't change a thing.

Fully delusional thought here and in no way I expect or think it'll happen, but having a large field of GT4 cars modified to rally spec would be amazing. Camaro's, Porsche's (currently in RGT), Aston's, Ginetta's, Lotus' and KTM's. Never happening I know but it'd be more interesting to watch. I do like Rally's current form but I do like the GT4 idea.

I wouldn't read too much into it. M-Sport have been using Ford and EcoBoost logos for years; they're just not allowed to use the Ford badge or name. And we haven't heard anything about plans for a 2017-spec Fiesta (though they are apparently developing one), whereas the Volkswagen, Citroën and Toyota have all broken cover and the Hyundai is in development (Neuville rolled it).

Meanwhile, Toyota have confirmed that they will enter three cars in 2017, and Tommi Mäkkinen has said that Juho Hänninen is "very likely" to be driving one.
