An interesting news, citroen will develop a new c3 r5 car and a r2t in 2017 (source: autohebdo)

Toyota will also work on a r5 car next year.

An interesting news
I'm pretty sure the rules say that you have to develop an R5 variant of whatever car you enter. M-Sport has one because they're M-Sport and their business model hinges on consumer models. Hyundai have an R5 in development; I'm pretty sure Corsica was its début. And while there's no Polo R5, there is a Fabia R5 that is considered close enough to meet the requirement of an R5 variant (especially since Volkswagen and Škoda are owned by the same company and don't want to be directly competing with each other). But the C3 and Yaris are brand-new models, so there needs to be an R5.

Never heard of that.
Searched a bit in the current regulation and there is no words about it :

Seems like every manufacturer is free to build a r5 car for eventual customers or not.

No... Where was the Mini Countryman R5?

The Mini debuted as an S2000 car )I think with Armindo Araujo before his own team kicked him out) whilst they were still developing the engine for the WRC car, I suppose that kind of made it the first of the RRC cars.

Just so you know, the show car Yaris is just a test mule for parts. The aero and car will look significantly different. Makkinen confirmed this week's ago. They're hiding the new car because they feel like they have a few aero tricks that the competition could get wind of. Autosport ran the story in August.

Eh, I'm sceptical seeing as how the aero package on the car they have been testing is consistent with the car that was shown in Paris. How does Mäkkinen plan on running a car with an aero package that he hasn't tested?

I donno, maybe a wind tunnel?

Don't forget that we don't know about every test session that happen.

Some tests sessions take place on private property/racetrack/rallycross track/airfield and (almost) nobody know about them, I'm sure Toyota and the other manufacturers still have some surprises in store for us. ;)
(For example the Fiesta wrc 2017 ran with the new bodykit quite a few kilometers on a old private airfield but nobody heard about it until this week.)

At the moment Huyndai is testing in Germany on tarmac, Ford on tarmac and Toyota on gravel (Haninen crashed yesterday) both in Spain.

M-Sport have a private forest and tarmac area at Dovenby Hall, they can test by driving out the factory door. Nobody knows what they're doing until they want people to know what they're doing.

Yep, that is what I was explaining, manufacturers have some ways to test cars without anyone knowing about it.

M-Sport might have to run the 2016 cars with the 2017 engine for the start of the season (first 3 events) before the 2017 fiesta is homologated. Both configurations were testing in Spain at the same time :

Has Ogier crashed? He seems to not have fiinished the stage.

EDIT: Nevermind, was a glitch in the WRC live timing.

Ogier is the 2016 wrc champion.

I saw Ogier as champion very early in the season, no driver was able to stay consistent and take as many points

I think most people did. Especially given Latvala's early troubles. I don't necessarily buy into the idea of Meeke being a legitimate rival, because he's wildly inconsistent, so I expect that if anyone can challenge Ogier, it's Andreas Mikkelsen.

Some cool pictures from the Toyota workshop in Puuppola (source : hs.fi)

Tarmac tyres are ready to go on the car. :D
Also the Third car will come in april 2017.

Thats true, now we don´t know what to expect from Toyota or pretty much any other team for that matter, new regulations means completely new cars. I think the only driver who can challenge Ogier is someone who can perform great on both tarmac and gravel, Mikkelsen and Neuville comes to my mind.

Which ever team has Ogier will win, I hope Toyota and who ever new that comes in understands this.

If you want to beat him you have to get a driver who isn't in the series currently with the same first name.

The road order nonsense is the only way WRC can make it look like it's close.

A very busy week for all the manufacturers.

Huyndai in France (Test with old and new rear spoiler) :

And finally Toyota rumored to be also testing somewhere.
