Some rumours for 2013. Hanninen has been replaced by Lappi in the Skoda team and it looks like he could be driving a M-Sport Fiesta WRC next year, also Robert Kubica could make his WRC debut in a DS3 in 2013.

e: Actually Hanninen is confirmed for MC and Sweden in the Fiesta.
 
Block is someone to like but WRC just isn't where he needs to be. He seems much better overall in RallyCross and Rally America.

I thought Msport also has RedBull this year? Or am I dreaming something up.
 
No, Citroen are keeping Red Bull, as they have for some time now. Red Bull are also the series promoters, so all the cars might have some minor Red Bull branding. M-Sport, however, have their primary backing from Qatar.

Besides, this is just a concept livery rather than the real thing.

Solberg has just announced he will not be participating in the 2013 WRC, according to autosport.
 
Solberg:
“I am so grateful and happy for what I have experienced during my 15 years in the WRC,” said Solberg. “For now it’s really quite sad, you know, I would have loved to have driven for a few more years, but I do realise there will not be a WRC programme for me next year. I have said I am willing to drive for free, but at this point, I will not pay to drive. This is not to say that you will never again see me in a WRC car, but for now, I think it’s best.”
 
Personally, I think Petter is going to rallycross. Both his son and wife are crosskart racers, so he's either going to do something in a kart or rallycross a car. That's just my own thoughts - don't quote me on that. :lol:
 
That would be interesting to see.

I think I will miss Petters personality from WRC more than anything.

Does the WRC do any middle eastern rallies next year?
 
No. A rally in Abu Dhabi was put forward as a candidate event to replace Jordan, but it was scrapped when the FIA decided they needed to clean the series up.

Tbh with the way the WRC has been, it needs not really a clean, but a fresh start.

I've also heard that the Fiesta concept livery I posted a page or two back is the actual livery M-Sport will use next year.

If so, the 2013 field is going to be one of the prettiest in years. I really need to restart my collection of 1:18 scale models so that I can get some of these.
 
So I take it Red Bull and Citroen have parted, due to Red Bull promoting the whole series?

I think the world of motorsport owes a lot to Red Bull and their love for putting their name on everything, F1, WRC, Motocross, the list goes on. Of course they earn from it but credit where credits due... Roll on 2013!

The car is expected to make its WRC debut late next season.

They've had a pretty close relationship with VAG in the past, particularly sponsoring Skoda teams.

And with Loeb retiring, it stands to reason that the championship fight will be a lot closer this year. With that in mind, crossing the floor to back Volkswagen means that the company is likely to get plenty of coverage because the introduction of the Polo R will attract attention.
