Now, then. This is my own opinion. Do not make personal attacks due to choice. I prefer the WRC. Nothing like it. You take a street model based race car with 2.5 liters and drift. Of course, you're drifting on dirt with 300+ hp at 100+ MPH whilst on cliffs, over gorges, on 200 ft jumps, all while trying to avoid the local flora and fauna. Let's hear your choice

F1. Cause its the most technologically advance motorsport in the world! Plus, F1 had way better coverage than the WRC would ever have......
(sadly, I don't get to watch the WRC these days cause theres no live coverage...... :guilty:)

Why would other motorsports change your preference between WRC and F1?

This isn't a thread about your favourite motor sport. Check the title.

We really should create some motorsports forums for questions like this....

Moved to the impartial motorsports forum.

I'm more WRC. I love nascar, so I don't really enjoy watching the F1 cars go round the same tracks.

(That's all taht makes it to my TV is F1 on the ovals)

WRC for sure, I've never been a huge F1 fan. With WRC you are driving quite fast down a narrow dirt road lined with spectators, cliffs, trees, animals, and other things that pose hazards. With F1 it's all fairly controlled it seems. I'm sure both take a tremendous amount of skill and is something I would never be able to do myself, but I respect what rallye drivers do more.

i live in the U.S.A., you know where we have Speedtv.

The tv channel better known as Nascar tv. And because it really is Nascar tv, we americans are denied watching the WRC along with other forms of motorsport.

I think is was like 2003 when speed last covered the entire wrc season.

Back on topic though, im a bigger fan of F1 but i give great respect to rally drivers and all other drivers. Motorcycle racers too.

I have to say I like F1 more. Don't get me wrong; I love WRC. I just think the coverage and the way the events are run are handled poorly.

at least speed gives us F1 coverage thats better than ITV. ALMS too

Yeah, that would be the same for me. Channel 10 had pretty poor coverage, I thought the move to SBS would be great, because I didn't think they had anything else worth showing on weekends.

I've said this way too many times - at least you've got a TV channel dedicated to motorsport!

So does Australia have horrible motorsport coverage?

Not live. I found out the result because of this thread before it was aired in Australia. 👎

Um, well, i know the BBC is gonna broadcast F1 for 2009

Well said.... :) I really love WRC back in the day, but now the WRC has lost most of the excitement (sure, it still is fun to watch, but nothing compared to the McRae rally days..... :() and little coverage and publicity just makes people forget about WRC. Even the race to the skies Pikes Peaks challenge now has lost all its former glory......

Yeah, I agree as well. At least you could watch more motor sports on your TV then we ever could. But Jack, didn't TEN show F1 as well? (or am I completely messing of with V8 again? :guilty:) At least your local channels are better than ours... 👎
I voted they both suck
NASCAR fanboy. :P

It is pretty bad. We get good coverage of the V8 Supercars, unless some Aussie Rules Football is on, then V8 Supercars will be bumped to a later time slot, so far I don't think that has happened this year.

F1 coverage is pretty bad, but at least we've got it. We have to stay up late to watch every race, besides the Australian GP and occasionally the Chinese and Japanese GPs. MotoGP is the same.

Everything else is usually watched as highlights in 1 hour motorsport programs and such.

Yes, Channel 10 do provide us with F1 coverage, but as mentioned above, it's almost always in a late time slot. Even worse is the lame reality TV shows running late and bumping it back by half an hour or so.

That Sux. You can tell us motorsport fans get no respect no matter where we live.

Except in America and Europe.... :banghead:
But to be honest, what do you expect? Its not like the whole nation is into motor sport and not everyone knows what F1 really is..... so just be thankful you got a TV to watch a race, rather than other people that didn't have any coverage at all...... :indiff:

Jackington: That sucks, at least it is delayed rather than not showing at all. But if I remember correctly, the V8 Supercars got great coverage on channel ten, whats up with that? They manage to show practice, qualifying and the race without any delays... (of course, that was a few years ago, don't know how the tv program is now)

I think it was more about 2005, because I remember when I lived in ST. Louis which was back in 04-06, they had WRC at 10pm local time, and I never got to see the 06 WRC STI racing.

Voted for rally driving, which still retains many principles of the past, but with better cars. F1 has very different personalities today and the media handles them very differently. You wouldn't have F1 drivers consuming anything other than glucose (or whatever is pumped through their helmets during a race, unless I'm mistaken) during a race, whereas Fangio would sometimes stop to swill a bottle of lemonade if his lead was big enough. The media also brings down drivers with otherwise magnetic personalities, whereas in even the 1970s drivers could and often did express themselves freely with less pronouned negativity. F1 drivers in the past soldiered on even if their car should not have been running at all (though that was mainly Gilles Villeneuve), when today, a broken wing would sideline a current car. Maybe I've read too many low-class car magazines, but I feel that today's drivers have changed with the cars.

Rally car drivers still drive with broken cars, and charismatic types such as Colin McRae and Tommi Makinen have ruled still recently.

F1 100%, its live, its competitive, makes my heart beat faster

i also like wrc but it does not feel the same, its not competitive, too little brands.

but i was ready for rally last night and eurosport was showing snooker instead of rally ARGH!

I like both , but still has to be WRC.

I know the F1 car is going stupendously faster physically, but its in controlled enviroments.

I just think that if you were being driven around a narrow cliff road by sebastien Loeb, it would seem a whole lot faster and scarier than in an F1 car. :)

Theyre both good for different reasons.

I personally prefer rallying because the cars are closer to what you would see on the roads. I think rallying is also a lot more accessable to fans than F1.
