Only an hour, lol. I spents about 10hrs on GP/F in the past week, and that was just deciding on a platform. This weekend i get every last drop out of it.

Agreed...I've spent alot of time "racin'" with Sass while workin' on his GT's...he spends alot of time on it. Just sayin' the Xanavi would have been my first weapon of choice...👍

Deathbyrotor I'll drive enos Lexus. I know sassafras we good.

Welcome.

Only 3 spots left! Looks like we might fill the grid before the first pre-season race, that's awesome.

Everyone remember that Sassafrass and myself are looking to keep this a clean series, a rarity for a heavy damage series. You will never be kicked for being too slow, but recklessness or disregard for other drivers will not be tolerated. A unplanned pit stop to repair damage will add at least 30sec to your race, not to mention the time wasted during the accident and getting back to the pits. Ask someone in the series to practice clean passing with you, cat and mouse style. Give one car an advantage, like better tires, so you can pass, fall back, and pass again a few times a lap.

Hey Redline..... can you please change my car to the Lexus BANDAI DIREZZA SC430 ‘06 ?

I've already got one of those setup and the settings don't translate well to the '08 Lexus cars.

This series is filling up rather quickly, the time and day really works. I hope we will have another great series like last season, just thought we would have more drivers from our first season, as the talent level was outstanding.

also i forgot to mention that i won't be attending the first preseason race as it will be my b-day and i don't think you guys want to race with a guy who is about to fall-over or already has .... lol

Um...prolly a dumb question...what time does practice start? The reason I ask is because I get off work at 10:30 PM EST...20 minutes to get home...tend to dogs...I'll be lucky to be on line before 11...

I wanted to make one comment about the tire rule just so everyone understands why we chose this route.

I've raced in multiple series with weight penalties and it does almost nothing. The cream still rises to the top like it should. The best drivers in the series still qualify in the top 3 or 5 and finish on the podium. This rule is two fold. It presents a greater challenge to the better drivers and takes a load off of the host of the race. This rule also utilizes all three tire compounds and still lets everyone have an open pit strategy. The best drivers in any series will be a couple seconds fast than the average driver and possibly drive on hards as fast as someone on mediums.

The hosts of the races have too many responsibilities and can't concentrate on their race like the rest of us. Having to change the weight to get the penalized cars to the track is time consuming and pointless for reason stated above. In some of these races, the host spends more time managing and not enough time on the track. That's not fair to them. That's also why there are going to be more post race time penalties. This way, rules can be broken but you will pay for them and possibly lose positions. The replays will be viewed and judged by multiple people. You don't see Lewis Hamilton crying because of a drive thru penalty and I would hope that everyone here will be the same. Everyone can trust that the people reviewing the races and incidents are experienced, fair, and unbiased. If you have an incident with the one of the stewards you can be sure they will not be the only judge of what happened.

The room will be up at 11pm EST. There will be practice for 30 minutes then qualifying for 10 minutes. And that is barring any delays. There are almost always delays. So technically the race doesn't start until 11:40pm EST.

I just don't understand why you want to penalize the top drivers in the first place. (and no, I'm usually not a top 3 driver :guilty:). In a real racing series the penalties are to even out a car that has an advantage over other cars, in GT5, especially in the GT500 cars, that is not the case. All a penalty does in this game is reward the people who don't want to put in the time to get better. The people who spend the time to get good and put in a lot of practice are the ones that suffer, somehow that doesn't seem right to me. I can understand that the guys that always run at the back of the pack are all in favor of this type of penalty, but the fact remains that they are running in the back for a reason. Personally, I'd much rather win because I improved and got good enough to win, not because the better drivers were penalized until I could keep up with them.

That is just my thoughts on the penalty system. I'm not asking you to change it, just expressing my opinion. I'll give it a try in the pre-season races and if it just doesn't work I'll drop out before the real season starts so I won't take a spot that someone else can use.

Boshuter, yes you can switch cars.

Lucky, my bad, everything is going to be on Tuesday's. I'll fix that shortly.

Sassafras, it was my intention to start qualifying at 11 and open the lobby at 10:30 for practice. I didn't explain that well in the OP though, is that a problem for anyone?

Boshuter, if you do a little reading on SuperGT rules you'll notice that unlike GT3 they penalize "winners" rather than cars that seem to have an advantage. If a GTR wins, and the next GTR was in 6th then only o e GTR is penalized for the next race.

In my last series this rule worked great. There were a few "great" drivers that seemed to enjoy the challenge. I did not get any complaints, or have any issues with it. Both Sassafrass and luckylefty can confirm this.

My only goal with the penalty system is to ensure that the series isn't won by mid-season. I want pressures to be high going into the Suzuka weather race, and everyone still fighting for points ( no matter what position) in the finiale.

Sassafrass...

10:30's OK with me. I can still get 10 minutes of practice in, I'll just have to make sure my car is dialed in beforehand. No biggie. :)

Is it possible to take part in the pre-season before signing up for the rest of it?
If so I'll take the remaining Lexus!

just thought it would be nice to post some practice times so our new drivers have a number to go after
1:08:xxx on med tires
1:07:xxx on soft tires
happy hunting boys i know these are (slow) times for our pro field so i hope to see some quicker times posted soon

I'd love to have numbers to go by since I rarely run race cars I don't know if I'm pushing them to the limit or not. What track are those 1:07s and 1:08s on?

What's the ruling on the concrete at DFR? All 4 wheels on? Or only 2 wheels on? The line, and amount of braking changes drastically between the two.

last season all four were allowed and should be allowed this season

Yeah the concrete is fair game, four wheels on it is ok. And damn lucky, 1:07's is seriously quick. I didn't spend as much time tuning at DF as I did GP/F but I think I was stuck at 1:10 flat. Guess I'll be practicing tonight then!

Can you make it tomorrow? If so the slot is yours, and let me know after what your feelings are on participating.

i know thanx, we have been practicing and i must say that 1:07:3xx is fast but if you run a perfect lap it should be 1:06:xxx i was not even the first to break the 1:07 mark so this race will be fast and furious as always good luck to all drivers
