I'd be fine with any of the short tracks....except maybe autumn ring mini and clubman stage 5...to bad we can't use dirt or snow tires :)
sorry I didn't make the last race....fell asleep at 10 lol.... ill be here next week though...
 
I know we can all get around Tsukuba without leaving the pavement. I was referencing someone helping you leave the pavement. I'm looking forward to this race.
 
Well I'd be willing to bet a handful of drivers can't get 10 laps around suzuka east without leaving the pavement. That's more what I was referring to. Tsukuba is more popular and most drivers probably have 3 times as many laps driven on it compared to suzuka east...of course that doesn't mean they won't be prone to punting others off the track.

Grand Valley East is another fun short track... especially in the reverse configuration, but with a long straight, passing is pretty easy.
 
How about this for a Special Stage. Lets run 2 or 3 short tracks that night. Drivers practice on said tracks, driver will copy down car setup for each track and have at it.

Again just a suggestion. Sounds fun and exciting to me.
 
The only reason we're doing one track is because everyone gets into a groove on that track. And actually it should be 5 races at 5 laps. 10 laps makes it way too easy for the winner of the previous race to get to the front. The points wont be an average either. Each driver will receive normal points for their finishing position. Those points will be added up to comprise the final result. That finishing order will go toward the actual championship.
 
People have already stated they don't have a lot of time to practice...so i think we should stick with one track.
 
Darn... so much for my attempt to combine everyone's ideas and try to sound innovative.

I'll be fine with any track, as I know how to tame the wild beast that is the NSX.

I'm fine with anything except hearing about a change of course at the last minute. It's gonna take a while to get a smooth setup for this track. There will probably be more bumping do to the tight turns and fewer laps to get ahead. It might be a good idea to practice once or twice to work out any problems. It's a shot course, so if it's allot of cars it could get dicey at 600pp. I know you don't want to lower it but it would probably be a cleaner race at 560pp. I'm glad you're lowering damage. Any one with heavy damage early would have to pit and be at the back with no chance to make it up.
 
I'd rather see it stay at 10 laps too. Otherwise it's a sprint and will encourage aggressive driving. It takes a good lap to setup for a pass on this track, and then it will take another to actually make it happen. If you make it 5 lap sprints, you are basically saying whoever can quickly get to turn 1 will come out ahead each race. You could conceivably pass 3 cars at the start of each race...but it might take 2 laps to pass each additional car.
 
5 laps is too short. That would work out to 5 5min races. The faster drivers still deserve a chance to win from the back, and it would be impossible in 5 laps.

We should stick to the plan, 5 10 lap races. Tire penalties from the round 3 & 4 will be applied in round 5.
 
OP Updated. Everyone ready for the special stage? I guessing its going to get ugly trying to pass here. At least if you have a bad race it doesn't ruin your night.
 
Its probably going to be a little ugly. Hopfully everyone is a good sport and just does their best when they get to start toward the front.
 
Did I here you say something about us starting with soft tires for this round. I worked for hours last night trying to make medium tires work and still can't run a consistent lap. And since nobody came to practice last night, I'm sure I'll be causing of accidents. I would probably be a little safer with softs. I have my diff turned all the way down (5-5-5) and the tires keep braking loose on the slow turns. I started practicing with the manual trans and took over a second off my best time with the automatic. Instead of dropping down to second gear on those turns, I was able to stay in forth gear. Tires break loose less which helps but I need more practice so I won't run into someone. Not using manual trans in a race till I get a good feel for it. I hope you start practice early tonight. Yes, tonight's race will be on racing softs with light damage. 5 races, 10 laps each. 5 minutes between each race. There will be qualification for the first race then reverse order after that. I would be prepared for rough races but at the same time lets not get too ridiculous with our optimistic moves on the track. Hopefully everyone will show up. See ya tonight.
 
If you are spinning the tires out of the hairpins, try increasing the rear toe.

I want to say my practice times were around 0:51-0:53 on RS tires.
 
Thanks Chuyler, if I can run the same lap times as you I must be ok. Just need to work on consistency. Wish i could run manual. Got a :50.2 on not such a smooth lap. When I get it down, I'll be coming after you. At least till I wreck out... Thanks Sass, soft tires will help tremendously.
 
After a crazy race, here are the results from Tsukuba Special Stage:

This round of the the series when way better than I thought. I hope everyone had fun.
 
I thought it was lots of fun. Looking at the replays, deathbyrotor had some serious lag issues and was bouncing around the track. Things to check for next week:
* Make sure your wife/gf isn't watching Netflix on the other TV
* Turn off file sharing programs like bittorrent
* Hard wire your PS3 to your router

Other than that, the racing was close and competitive.

Race 1: I got the pole and pushed hard to get to turn 1 first. I think Nic actually let me have it because starting on the outside it is a longer ride to the apex. I took it slow the first lap because I didn't want to spin my tires. After that I put the hammer down and stayed far enough away that Nic couldn't get on my bumper.

Race 2: I started last and took it easy through the first turn. There was some mayhem in front of me which turned out to be deathbyrotor ping ponging around. I ducked through that and stayed inside on the 2nd hairpin to get by tr1mble. He tapped me trying to get down to the apex but by then I was already there. Looks like POPE put a wheel in the dirt before the next turn and some more cars were bumping into the last hairpin. After that I had to chase down Sass. He was the toughest pass of the race. I got by on the back straight but when I tried to block the inside going into the first hairpin he tapped me and I went wide. On the next lap I decided to wait until the front straight to pass so I could use the whole infield to build up a gap and prevent drafting down the back straight. Video catches most of this action, as well as Sass's battle with Nic and GrayFox afterward. Nic lost track of the laps though and had a spectacular lap 9 finale.



Race 3: I can't remember how the start went down but my biggest battle was with GrayFox for 2nd place. At that point Nic had pulled a 4 second gap so there was no catching him. GrayFox was a very tough pass. I couldn't get a good enough jump entering the back straight to draft pass, and he was real quick around the final turn. Drafting someone around that turn is tough because with the extra power you risk running wide. I got a good run out of the 2nd hairpin but I didn't have enough room to pull off the next right-hand turn from the outside so I had to back off. The next lap I tried the same move and while I was passing grayfox went wide and touched the dirt to end the battle.

Race 4: was a cluster****. A huge crash after turn 1 had cars flying all over the place. Nic and I drove through the grass to avoid it. I think Nic may have picked up damage or something because he took the next hairpin and subsequent turns very slow and I couldn't figure out why. I went around him and got close to sass. and was working on positioning for a pass when Nic came up behind me and bumped me on the exit to the final hairpin sending my car spinning in circles. It took the rest of the race to chase down Sass and I think I finally got him on the last lap.

Race 5: Not as much mayhem at the beginning but Nic and I pulled ahead pretty quickly. This was my first opportunity to chase him without traffic around us. It took several laps but I finally got around him when he ever so slightly spun the tires exiting the final hairpin. All it took was that mistake for me to get a better run down the back straight. Not sure how I would have got around otherwise.

Overall, it is still very difficult to pass on this track. Despite placing well each race, I didn't have as many battles as one might think. Most of my passes occurred when other cars made mistakes big enough for me to slip past. Anyone who was good enough to hug the inside line around turns was very difficult to get around. I think Sass is the only one I had to use the draft to get around. Everyone else slipped up and/or cracked under pressure and gave up the inside line.

I was considering not racing anymore in this series. As I've said before, I'm content being a back marker but all the other issues(disconnects, not seeing cars on track, drop outs, and unpleasant messages in my inbox) have left a bitter taste in my mouth. So last night was going to be my last try at making it work. I didn't practice, mainly because if there was any connection issues, or if i didn't see everyone on track i was just going to leave. However, deathbyrotors lag was the only issue. With only 20mins of setup, and my limited abilities, i was able to pull some low 52's during the race(without drafting). My consistency was very typical, with not a single "clean" race. Either way, i had fun for the first time this series.

So I'm going to put in a few hours of practice this weekend, and see if i can stay on the lead lap next week. It would seem that i don't have any compatibility issues with those remaining in the series, and i should be hardwired in a month.
 
Since the top three from both rounds 3 & 4 are the same, there will only be the usual 3 penalized for next week.

Chuyler, Nic-KL, GrayFox will start deep forest on Racing Hards. This might be the first track that it becomes a real factor.
