Daimler is a German based manufacture. It is also known as Daimler AG or formerly Daimler-Chrysler. From what I understand, Daimler-Chrysler was formed in 1998 when Daimler-Benz (Mercedes-Benz manufacture) joined with Chrysler.
The name Daimler fell off of Chrysler in 2007 and became known as Daimler AG. Now Daimler is credited to manufacturing cars like Mercedes, Maybach and Smart.

Just to further confuse you, there is also the Daimler Motor Company that is owned by Jaguar, which creates specialty vehicles for them.

The German Daimler officially merged with Benz back in the 1920s to form Daimler-Benz, which then became DaimlerChrysler in 1998 after that merger, and is now just Daimler AG after Chrysler got spun off.
Then as YSSMAN said, there's also a separate Daimler in UK that makes more... bespoke and special cars.
