I am actually trying my best to avoid premature completion.

Im in no rush, Well for Bspec yes a bit cause i dont have to drive...
I just do the Nurburgring 4h (Aspec) once a week and by my calcuilations i should get to lvl 40 by the end of the year or earlier, so every week i get 500.000 exp in Aspec

GT6 is not coming out next year... - we have about 4-5 years till it comes so no rush for me

There is thread after thread of people complaining about the a-spec grind blah blah and how it drops off at lvl 23-25 however you've been playing the game. My question is what's the bloody point? All you get is a few endurances races unlocked which alot of people arent willing to do anyway.

You can race on all the tracks, buy any car you want at that level, why must people force themselves to grind to a higher level for nothing, this game wasnt made to be finished overnight.

I agree, I don't really get it. I love exploring the game, not just for the fastest cars or imaginary points. Taking the game at a slower pace makes it more enjoyable for me, personally. I understand people have their own reasons for rushing, though.

The question isn't just "why do people rush to 40?", the question is "how do people have time to rush to 40!?!?" Do all you peeps have no job, no school or something? Haha. I'm joking, but I'm also serious.

I've been playing GT5 for as long as it's been out and I'm nowhere near to 40. Not 'cause I suck, but because I simply don't have the time! I gotta be somewhere (usually work) just about every single day.

You miss the point, for me personally I'm rushing to my personal goal (level 35 A and B spec) so I don't have to deal with A or B spec again. I rushed to the endurance races because these are the races I enjoy the most i.e. Grand Valley, Laguna, Nurburgring 4hr.

I'm rushing to get to where I want so I can concentrate on testing and tuning the 400 cars I have so far collected, that I want to drive online, with my friends, rather than having to repeat the same races over and over again against questionable AI opponents, often for little reward.

The Le mans 24hr races can wait, I was really looking forward to these, until I found out there was no pause and save function, which is ridiculous. I made the decision to reach that level, then stop and maybe, if this function is ever introduced, go back to it some day, if not, I'm not bothered. I've had enough, and just want to race my cars online with my 72 GT5 friends.

For those who say they don't have to grind, well consider this, I (like many) got the game on release day, I took time off work, postponed social appointments, family commitments and basically played GT for 2 days solid. I got to level 14 A spec with just a few hundred thousand credits to spend.

A few days ago, I went onto my other ID and started afresh, all I did was the seasonal bonus races 2 and 3, in 2 hours I'd reached level 24 and got over 4 million credits to spend- without doing one single license or A spec race. That's the difference update 1.05 has had, what previously took 2 days, now takes 2 hrs -I for one, am very unhappy about this.

Before 1.05 grinding was necessary, even crucial, after this it's non exisitent for some people. Speak to the people who, like me, got the game on release day and you'll get a very different story compared to speaking to people who got the game either after, or near to update 1.05 being implemented.

I just want to get rid of A and B spec asap and forget it ever happened, tune my cars and start racing my friends. I'm level 35 A spec and I'll reach level 35 B spec tomorrow, the sense of relief I am anticipting will be huge, I am so looking forward to it.

The seasonal races totally changed the game for some people, they were a 'get out of jail free' card.

I'm presuming there's alot of people like me that just want to get the game over and done with and have that sense of relief they'll not have to go through that again.

Not me. I enjoy the game, A-spec and B-spec. I like doing these races over and over. I never get bored because I'm constantly challenging myself.

I enjoy online races, too, when the people online are actually behaving. I haven't even had much time for Special and Seasonal events. That's a whole 'nother ballgame.

I am turned off the game due to the gearbox problem, cars a re just to slow when you can't tune the Gears!

So I am just taking my time, playing it slowly I just did most of extreme events last few days. I still have the historic one to go from a Pro series, as I can't find a decent car that is pre 1970's
I am lvl 23 and in no rush, If the gears were fixed!! That would make me more enthusiastic

I have to agree with the OP. Hurry up and finish and sit around wait 5 years for GT6.

I rushed kinda to lvl 30 a-spec then stopped and now starting to cruise along in b-spec.

I don't want to grind, but I'm running out of events to keep me interested in the game itself and to earn money in the game. The only bright spot are the seasonal events, which give me a huge amount of money, which I instantly put to use because I buy most of my cars in the UCD and I can't afford the money to do the Chassis Maintenance and Engine Rebuild.

It really bothers me, I feel compelled to get to level 40 now and it's killing me. I don't know why but I feel like I have to do it. I have 98% of the game complete and I just want the satisfaction of reaching 100% and knowing I finished it. I wish I didn't have this mindset because there is much more to life than this.. but I do.. and to add to that I am typing this as my X1 sits on the side of the road almost 7 hours into the Le Mans 24 hours. The thoughts of having to do this like 5 times is sick.

If anyone has any advice on how to accept that Level 40 is crazy and just forget about the game I'd love to hear from you.. and I mean that in a sincere way. Also, I have been b-specing for the last 2 weeks, leaving my ps3 on all night coming back to start new races at certain parts of the day.. It's just stupid.. But I feel like I must do it.. HELP ME!

WTF is it with everyone rushing to 40

I don't think that's true. From what I've seen, virtually everyone's "level up" ambitions seem directly related to the acquiring of the X1/X2010.

Bar the two-bob game that came with my PS3, GT is the only game I own.
I've no intention of rushing through it.
When I'm finished winning races and licenses I'll simply create my own fun by racing the GT500 (Super GT) using a GT300 car. After that I'll race top class LM cars using DTM or the like.
I can never tire of this game. Getting to level 40 will happen when I've played enough and without realising I'll say "Oh, look honey, I've just hit level 40." and continue to race on ignoring the fact that I won't level up anymore.
If I never hit L40, I don't care.

I'm guessing people who 'Grind' don't necessary enjoy doing so.
A 24H race once a month is not grinding it's an enjoyable event (for me anyway). If you feel it necessary to 'grind', why not do it over the long term and not have the need to moan about doing Le Mans 24 five times in one week.

Sure you can buy any (excluding the X2010) at level 25, but you can't buy all of them without extensive grinding for credit's. Some people (myself included) just want to hop in any car I feel like, pick a track and drive. How do you propose these people go about it without "forcing themselves to grind"? Or even if I wanted an X2010, how would I get it without grinding?

I was told by Polyphony Gran Turismo 5 has over 1000 car's. Oddly, I would like an opportunity to drive said car's. At my current rate it will be months before that happens. Now why should I have to wait that long to drive those car's? It's not because I'm not skilled enough as you might guess - I've golded everything below level 26, including Seasonal's. So what's holding me back? An artificial game "lengthening" device known as grinding.

I'm rather rushing too right now , at lv.38 currently, may reach lv.40 in another week, because I want to collect the colored X2010 and already prepared 20mill just for that , after that, I can really enjoy the game, trying out each cars ;) , not to mention dead space 2 on the way too, because I can only focus on 1 game at time

yikes ocd to the max ;)

Aside from the fact that I can't get online while playing GT5, I have no issues with the pace of GT5. The amount of 'grinding' you 'have' to do is laughable compared to other games, and still not as bad as I was doing it in GT4 just for cash alone, not getting XP along with it.

It's like people want to rush to beat the game ASAP, and only want XP to do the next event without taking time off to hunt down cars or mess around on tracks for fun. Fun, being the key word.

I'm in no rush to get to Aspec 40, but it would be nice if PD included extra XP for improved performance levels on the ASpec races or make the Ai's more challenging each time you win that race. That would give you a reason to go back and do them again

Not really but there were a lot of people bragging about getting to level 50 LOL. I had level 50 on 2 accounts in 1 week and I hadn't even did most of the career races. Just racing online with my friends for the most part. There were a lot of people complaing that there were way to many races in Forza with no real reward but all were required to get the achivement points.

So either way both complaints are dumb. People complain about lack of GT races and how the levels take too long, then people complain about too many races in FM 3 and how it doesnt take long to get to 50. Bottom line people will complain NO MATTER WHAT.

I Feel no need to rush leveling up at level 30+, on the other hand keeping the cash flowing is my main focus as I have a 4.5 million dollar a day habbit to support.

I didn't rush... there is just so little content (much of which isn't really enjoyable) and it's setup so that it goes by so fast that I find myself hitting the grind wall...

Asking why rush to 40 is like asking why did you horf your dinner so fast it's over already when dinner was two chicken nuggets and a french fry.

It's not that people are rushing to 40, it's that people are playing the game a lot and what else are you supposed to do but advance through it? You can repeat the races you've already done numerous times, or you can go on to the next one. I think it's pretty logical that people go on to the next one.

Besides, most people who are at a higher level have done all their favorite lower-level races - over and over and over and over and over and over. I know I certainly have. Bought hundreds of cars and raced them in those races too - over and over and over.

What do you expect from a racing/driving game? Certainly not driving cars :sly: Else you would have gone to the Arcade section (which offers the better driving anyway) and have driven the crap out of this game.

I absolutely can't understand people not touching Arcade because it gives neither XP nor credits though it offers huge offline player fun.

I bought GT4, because I enjoyed GT3.

When I bought GT4, I spent an intensive (but relatively quick) period unlocking everything by, uh, racing through the licenses and the events.

Then... I spent a more leisurely (and longer) period, grazing back over the licenses and events to gold as many as I could.

And then... I spent a much, much longer, and infinitely less pressured period of time, putting my GT4 disc in my PS2, every time I felt like a drive. I'd pore over the multiple cars in my garage, until I selected one that suited my mood; then I'd pick a race track and competition that appealed at that given moment.

Sometimes... When my wife was away visiting family for the weekend... I would even steel myself to sit down and run a 24hour Endurance Race... In stages, with food, comfort and nap breaks, and just for the sheer thrill of enjoying the GT4 game engine and mechanics.

...

In order to be able to have the same, enduring relationship with GT5, I find that I have a much more laborious climb to unlock everything.

And make no mistake: I *WANT* to unlock everything - because levelling system, bugs and glitches aside, GT is still, IMO, the most enjoyable and immersive driving game available.

But I want my *FREEDOM*.

I want to be free to buy any car that is available to buy: so that I can experience and judge driving it.

I want to be free to drive any track that is available: so that I can experience and judge driving it.

And I want to be free to participate in any race competition available: so that I can experience and enjoy participating in it.

I *WILL* do whatever it takes to achieve that Freedom, because my happiest memories of previous GT games have been picking it up whenever I was in the mood for a good drive. You know, in between first-person shooting, martial arting and snowboarding.

I *WILL* do it.

But that isn't to say that I will *ENJOY* doing it.

Right now, my feeling is that I want to do it to show PD that it is being done; but that there is a good chance that by the time I have done it, my feelings towards the game will have soured so much, it will feel like a chore rather than a joy to pick it up.

I get that some people are baffled by others' determination to reach level 40 as quickly as possible. Because after all, what meaning, precisely, does an A-Spec level rating imply?

You can be A-Spec level 40, and still not be a very skilled driver. And you can be level 10, and be an awesomely gifted natural race driver.

As for B-Spec... Your level just shows how determined you are to reach the point where you can finally buy the X2010 in your choice of colour (and unlock damage?).

So yes, I get why some find the race to achieve an irrelevant level rating so perplexing.

But to me, it isn't about achieving the level itself: it is about finally unlocking the Game in its entirety, so that I can play it how and when I want to play it myself.

PD may take my Time, and they might very well take my Life: but they will *NEVER TAKE MY FREEDOM*!!!

1 and the developers are entitled to sell a game with a lot of re-playability and a focus on online as well as offline events and bi-weekly challenges.
2. let me correct that, completing the game in a short period of time requires a lot of grinding due to the need to circumvent the design of the game to be long term and replayable.

The design of the game was so flawed PD had to hastily release seasonal events which it couldn't even get right as it had to make them even easier by lifting restrictions. 1.5 million credits and 120,000 XP for 8 mins racing says it all.

If you think they designed, programmed, and tested the "Seasonal Events" section of the game in the 3 weeks between game release and when the 1.05 patch came out with it (considering how slow that team works especially!) you're completely nuts. It was part of the game that was always planned, it just wasn't ready for release day. The restrictions lift was a bit of a cop out, but I guess theres enough people who bitched because they aren't good enough at the game to get the win. People who complain and don't like something are always far louder than those that do.

I think the seasonal events were always planned, but just how long do you think it takes to put up the events ? Just a few lines of code that is all, everything is already in the game, testing none or minimal, you do not download the event just the code to generate it from your disk. I agree with the previous poster - the amount of XP and credits is a reaction to realising they had screwed up the levelling system in the initial release.

I'm sure that they are easy to put up, but I was just saying that the idea mentioned here by him and others that they added the entire feature as a bandaid for the low XP and credit payouts is absurd. Also originally the events were extremely challenging for most players of the game. The reaction part is the removal of the restrictions which IMO was more due to people who couldn't cut it in the races bitching than them feeling the leveling system is wrong. If you're someone who can get to the point in the game where you need to grind, then you should have been skilled enough to beat the Seasonal Races. I am not even the best player and I found a way to beat them with the restrictions.

You understood the comment differently to myself. I took it to mean 'because the game is flawed we are making the difficulty and reward thus' not 'we are releasing seasonal events with .... because the game is flawed'.
