Just out of curiosity, is it possible to hack a Polyphony Digital dealership into Simulation Mode, at least temporarily? There does exist an unused description for one. I realize it wouldn't be of much use given that they only have one car that you can't even buy, I'm just curious.

Skip forward to the 1:20 mark. Only has the tuning options, no dealer unfortunately.

Does anyone know the limit of how many cars can appear in each used lot per week? Cause the number of cars that appears in each lot is not consistent week to week.

I recently stumbled upon this thread from 2009 where the OP claims that the Toyota 94C-V was seen in a few pre-release screenshots for Gran Turismo 4 in an old issue of the PSM2 magazine, which really piqued my interest because I was eager to see if there was any more missing content for this game and the fact that I suggested this very car in the suggestions thread years ago. In the thread, the OP states that the screenshots mainly took place on the George V Paris course, and he distinctly remembers seeing the car with Japanese characters in place of where it should say 'Nippon Denso', which interestingly, I found this picture of the car with just that:

Unfortunately, the PSM2 issues I could find online did not show any screenshots nor make any mention of the 94C-V in the game, and the OP of the thread has long since been banned. If anyone can offer any further insight on this, that would be much appreciated.

So, turns out GT4 and Tourist Trophy both have GT5P-like secret menus too. Go to the options menu, and using controller 2, input L1, Up, L2, Down, R1, Left, R2, Right, Start, Start. You'll hear the same noise as when you select Arcade Mode, and you'll be greeted with this:

Within Secret you have the following options:

Within monitor you have these, which are actually controls for the in-game camera, allowing you to change the view and offset etc.:

Perhaps a tad annoyingly, you have to input the code every time you come to the options menu, including when you cancel out of the two hidden ones.

The Distance value in the Monitor settings can be useful, as increasing it does stuff like this:

Decreasing it may be handy for those who don't like GT4's FOV.

EDIT:
Dezent has discovered that running in 4:3 to enable horizontal split in 2P mode, then setting the Aspect to 1.35 in the Monitor menu results in proper widescreen aspect ratio for 2P. The menus will be squished but in game it looks nice:

Credits to:
- Nenkai: for creating a script parser that allowed us to find the hidden codes in GT games that have them
- Dezent: for tons of GT4 research over the years and perseverence with trying this code when we couldn't get it to work
- @MMRivit: for suggesting that you actually need to use controller #2 to input the code

So I just found out about this secret menu that is now available in GT4 and it works great ! Guess it's been in hiding for years. I've used the GT5 one a lot over the years, but now, being that GT4 is my all time favorite game of the whole series, it has brought back new life to this game I've enjoyed so much. I've always not liked the AI cars match up that in many cases never made any sense of certain cars being together on the same circuit . Now I can do in GT4 what I've done for years in GT5 and set up my own race with cars that make more realistic sense being in the same race together. Thank you !

How do you look into GT4 codes? I'm looking for transmission's codes that enable 8+ gears beyond Nike One 2022. There's a gap between setting the 8th gear and the final gear that leaves me scratching my head. What software do you use?

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong since i haven't looked into gt4 in forever, but as far as i'm aware, the 8th gear isn't even fully supported, as it doesn't have a value address in the memory. Auto gears is able to alter it but yeha. As for more than 8, again, as far as i'p aware, just forget it. GT4 doesn't support it at all

Doesn't the Nike One have 8 gears?

I use the 8th gear on hybriding. All my cars have 3 setups with different gear sets, but all of them use the Nike One 2022 transmission, and that's it.

I would like to take a look on the codes myself but I have no idea where to start. Any hints?

As I previously mentioned I was so pleased that this was brought to the attention of the GT4 forum. Being that GT retro gaming is my preference I use to spend much of my time on GT5 because of the Secret Menu which can be had with Garage Editor. But, now that GT4 has the similar menu that gets set up in arcade I have been having a grand ol' time on the GT4 Rally Tracks and Tarmacs that I missed so much in the post GT era. Now being able to match up the AI rally cars to my liking I'm having a blast with these guys below:

Woot! Things happen here sometimes!
So, it took 3 days, but me and Xenn have compiled a list of (possibly) all car sounds present on GT4 PAL's disc.
And it's a doozy. 729 cars, 400-ish used sounds and...
cue in GT4's prize music drumroll
499 unused sounds!

I'll record a (very long) video of them all eventually. But for now, here's a google document you all can check if you're interested:

hi, great sheet! about, gt1 sounds.
in this doc you're referencing to SOUNDS.DAT file, right?
if yes, what tool should I use to unpack this files and get same naming as yours?

I use PSound and got this type of files, and theres like 1857 of them:

Pretty sure yeah.
Unlike GT games starting with GT2, GT1 sounds don't have a proper name. They're just in a specific order.
GT1 works weirdly in that it seems to do this for everything related to car parts.
For the record, the sounds share the same format from GT1 to GT4. So if you wish to import them into GT2-3/GTC-4p-4, it's just a matter of renaming accordingly and they'll work without any tweaking

one more time.
when I unpack SOUNDS.DAT I get 249 soundbanks
when I convert them I get 1857 sounds (because each initial soundbank contains a bunch of sounds inside)
when I look at your file list there's 246 rows

the question is: does your list corresponds to the soundbanks or sounds?
because if it's soundbanks it's fine, 3 of sounds are probably redundant but if it's sounds then there's a lot of unused sounds.

Banks. The first 2-3 files are for music and sound effects so you can ignore them.
I guess you're looking for the sound samples then

Yeah. First 3 files has INST as magic, and all other ENGN. So I need to start count from file 3 then? Like file 03.dat from the extracted files = your row 00000 from the google sheet, correct?

sorry, maybe I'm dumb, but I'm confused
numbering should start from 0 or from 3?

here's image. does this correlation corect?

003 is the sound bank number, then the _00001 etc are the samples within each bank. It's as you've circled

Hello everyone. So, let's continue this thread, because things have been interesting in unused stuff in GT4. Many things have been found such as an unused "Auto Union" dealership, unused banner and preview image of the Audi R8 Team Oreca Race Car '05, and many things. I'll send you some pics of what I'm talking about.

Is the "Italian Showroom" on the Auto Union dealership screen an artifact of how you made it appear?

One would expect it to be labelled as German.

Like I just told you, it's NOT me who discovered this. It was someone else. All I did was just to send it here.

They likely just force loaded the screen in place of an italian manufacturer's, hence the italian showroom flag
True. Other than that, has anyone else found something interesting for Gran Turismo 4 ? I'm curious and interested in this. And before you ask me, I did not found the unused Auto Union dealership. It was someone else, hope you understand. ;)

These are my images... At least say that you taken from TCRF or GT Wiki
