Also, while they may observe what people are discussing/complaining/raving about, they will NEVER acknowledge it for legal reasons. If they got involved in a public discussion and then implemented any of the ideas that were presented, they could be potentially sued for stealing the ideas. That's another reason why they will never respond to ideas emailed to them directly.

Yeh, if anyone who made a forum/e-mail suggestion copyrighted their posts, then maybe!

They are very unlikely to talk about features in public for the simple reason that you never promise anything in games development until it is actually there.

Part of my job is discussing with gamers/customers about features. We've come across legal issues, nothing related to this. We leave stealing of ideas to Microsoft

But yeah, PD will/do observe here. They'd never officially comment on it though.

How can one understand English just fine but not be able to speak any of it?

That's actually quite common.

It's not that he can't speak it, it's just so foreign to him that his accent makes him virtually incomprehensible. I've heard him mutter some English in some interviews here and there, and it requires subtitles just as much as his Japanese does.

But, I'll agree with the majority.. he probably doesn't read the boards himself, but we know that PD is aware of the site and that they read it, and that any interesting posts or insights probably make their way to KY's desk.
