If some guy walked up to you today, and said here have $55,000 tax free for the sole purpose of buying a new/used car of your choice. what would you buy? would you buy a $5,000 car and put 50K in upgrades?

I was thinking about this idea a lot and i think i would go through and buy something like this lovely little car

Im not sure which color i would choose but i could always repaint it. and yes i know that they are notorious for electrical problems but i just feel that i want a small tiny European 2 seat convertible. I want to be that professor guy with the patches on my elbows driving to class in my little convertible.

I would obviously buy one for daily driver that's had the electrical system maybe rewired or something and not just to keep in my garage under a sheet. i do like this one.....

1M. brand new smell, with the performance seats, Nav, Performance Steering wheel, Hartge spoiler lip, Tune to 410hp, titan exaust, KW Var3 coils.

So sad this car is already sold out

Used market, too many choices, a nice GTR34 VspecIi Nur ed., or one with a S1 engine.

Corvette ZR1 of the newest year I can get for under 30 grand, which I would proceed to desecrate by dumping the LT4 for an LS7, dumping Selective Ride Control for MagneRide (as I'm pretty sure there is a kit for doing exactly that) and blowing the rest of the money on little things to make the car better (for example, getting rid of the Sawblades and finding better seats).


Which means I should probably just buy a C6 Z06, but screw that. I've always like the C4 the most.






And yes, I've thought of this exact thing before.

This... except I would fork out the extra $30k and get one of the Aus Delivered ones, and then keep it in storage with as minimal K's as possible

You completely missed the point of having a car. :lol:
 
Find any Evo - any one - and (unless its an Evo X FQ400) modify it with the rest of the money. If it was an Evo X FQ400, I'd just keep the rest really.
 
I'd go for a (manual) BMW 320d, new with as high a spec as I can.

180bhp, RWD, lots of MPG, low tax, relaxed but fun when you want it to be, well made, comfortable and always useable. Is there a more complete car for the money?

In that order for the most part... Id put the two-seaters higher if daily life didnt play a part.

It's based on the Teana, with which it shares its engines. VQ35/23DE parts can be had in Europe for less than a fortune, and underpinnings can be bought through Nissan Ukraine.
Body parts are a different thing, but I'm sure it'll be no more troublesome or expensive than mending an old Ferrari. Only Hangul and the Cyrillic alphabet could be a problem ;)

It costs to drive exotic cars :D
