I swear I've been trying forever on this and I can only get second. You guys have any hints or anything like that for gold?

I played that damn thing FOREVER too. The few tips I can give are:

1) Keep in mind that you're racing the guy in the lead and not the cars you pass. It's easy to think that it's ok that you took a corner slowly because you're still 3rd or whatever, but you need to drive fast all the time.

2) You need to be in 3rd place going down the long straight after the tight corner, and your first lap more or less has to be 1:23:XXX, or you will have a hard time.

The key for me was to slide through corners, limiting braking.

At the first corner, stay to the right of the pack, brake deep and not too heavy, four wheel drift through the inside and you should end up in front of the blue 512BB, behind the yellow corvette (7th or 8th I think). By the hairpin before the back straight you should be in front of the yellow Miura (3rd place). Block to keep him behind if you need to as he'll brake early and slow you down at the end of the straight where there's a kink. This kink (from one of the earlier tests) is where you make up a lot of time, you have to 4 wheel drift very fast and very close to the right side. Take it a gear higher than the suggested, brake late and light.

After sliding through the final corner, and by the time you hit the front straight you should be about 10-15 car lengths behind P2.

Catch P2 in the same place you overtook the first set of cars on Lap 1 by braking late again and drifting round the two corners. You might be able to pass, or just wait until the hairpin. Rinse repeat the rest of the steps and you'll get P1 before or during the final corner. The Countachs are faster on the straight, so block if you really need to.

Hope that helps, I had trouble getting P1 as well, but have grown to love the test as one of my favourites because it's so fun four wheel drifting down the inside.

You need to be in 3rd before you brake for the hairpin after the Coliseum, and you need to be close enough to catch a draft from the P1 Countach on the following straight of lap 2.

I'm losing a lotta speed going into the hairpin on the 1st lap. You guys have any hints to keep speed up?

I do too because of the narrow approach. As long as you get in, and stay in front of the Miura you should be okay.

IMHO don't overdrive the car.

Once you realize how difficult it is, and how much time you have to make up, the trap is set. It is overwhelmingly irresistible to do so.

It is then easy to push the car into a slide, stick-oversteer, brake too late and/or lose traction.

Don't take the turn from the inside. Pass the Miura and take the turn wide to keep the rear end from stepping out.

You can push the car super hard since Skid Recovery Force is on. Don't be afraid to overdrive the car. Heading into the first corner, brake super late and try to slide around the inside, you should be able to make 4, 5 positions. You should be in 3rd after completing the hairpin leading into the straight (just run down the inside and outbreak the Miura). From there just drive as fast as you can.

When I golded, I actually caught up with first place with time to spare, so I just took my time making sure I didn't screw up the pass doing something stupid.

It took me around 200 tries to beat it. Definitely the hardest challenge so far through the first 50 I've done (only 10 to go).

Dozens of times I was in position to win, but screwed it up in some stupid way, until finally I did it.

If your first lap isn't better than a low 1:24, you might as well restart as it will be near impossible to win. My best first lap was a 1:23.118, which was pretty darn fast, but on the run that I finally got gold I had a 1:23.9xx, having to make a pass in the very last turn of the 2nd lap.

You can definitely rub a car off (that sounded bad) if needed, just don't be overly aggressive to the point where you hit a car. I was rubbing fenders in the last turn to make sure I maintained my position for the lead.

It was a fun, yet frustrating challenge and is worth it when you finally win it. I never thought I would, but I'd put in about 50-60 tries a day, and each day got better until finally achieving gold.

Also, playing with as few aids off as possible makes you faster. Yeah, the car may be harder to control at times, but those aids also slow the car so it's more controllable for the user, but that costs time. I only play with ABS at 1 (everything else off), and only use ABS at 1 because ABS at 0 doesn't work so well with the G27 wheel.
