You can actualy learn a decent bit about the way things work over there through Initial D's hyper-realistic little universe.
1: Know your terms.
2: This is called a broad generalization, meaning it does not entirely pertain to the topic at hand alone.

You have much to learn about internet etiquette and basic literary terms before you should make the decision to post ignorance on a public forum. No offense.

Deep Forest Normal. The first section of corners provides non stop, tight, winding turns that can be linked back to back up until you get to the straight.

I have much to learn about the power of the Dark Side? Whatever, Darth. :indiff:

I don't know about you guys but I consider only 'Citta di Aria' (in a way) and 'Costa di Almafi' as 'touge' courses. This is because mountain passes are narrow, winding and with tricky corners. Only those tracks support those features. At some points on the course even the 'Nordschleife' has those features!

I personally don't consider Trial Mountain as one since the road there is too wide. On most places on the course there you can get 3 cars side-by-side! This could certanly never be done on a Japanese mountain pass road (believe me, I've been there!) and not even on an European one! That doesn't mean I don't like Trial Mounain though :)

no your talking about wangan, if you ever read the intial d manga takumi always passed them up it was an race who ever passed the finish line first one, watch the anime or read the manga, and if you watch formula d, Dia and Chris Foresborg actuly tell you what touge is, touge is mountain and he said what is your fav mountain course
I thought Wangan was one of the high-speed highway runs in Japan? Maybe I'm wrong. But if not, then I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with drifting...

Costa Di Amalfi definitely fits the bill.

I find the Nurburgring does well, as it is a Narrow course, with loads of twists, turns, and elevation changes.

For a real fun time, run the Nurburgring in Reverse.

As for the "retard" statement, about me using Initial D as a reference material, I was pointing out that I've done no more than hold an Initial D manga, in the wrong language, meaning all I know is that apparently a crappy little toyota manages to defy the laws of physics themselves and beat all comers because the writers don't want their main character to lose, obviously.

So uh, be more careful when you point a finger, as you're pointing several back at yourself.

the term Wangan is not a style of racing but rather a name
Wangan is a popular Highway in Japan similar to the United States I-495
wangan is appox 10-15 miles long and is about 2-4 car lanes wide
dont get you info mixed up
AND a 150hp AE86 can beat 350hp FD3S...just watch D1 Grand Prix
Ueo-san vs Imamura-san
AE86(200hp) vs FD3S (500hp)

anyway Back to wangan
If you think your dad's 900hp 69' camero is fast go to Japan ...1,000hp Subaru Legacy's Gracefully Adorn the roads.....

oh yea i think that Costa is the Best. the rolling u-turns are more fun than slight bends is the course

GOddamn.. Man you guys sound so retard. The frkn true meaning of TOUGE is the highest point in a mountain road. Its actually not the road itself. Most people use it as the road itself but thats just how its used these days.

Anyways, there isn't a single touge in GT4, but one course that comes pretty close is Chamonix.

initialdrift
I hate to break it to you Captain trips but 03 UEO in an 180hp 86 beat a 450hp S-15 and a 500hp FD at Irwindale CA in the D-1 grand prix
D1s not a frekn race. Its judged by how you drift so powers not frkn important.

if you ever watched formula d round 2 at road atlanta taka aono drives a 160hp AE86, and he almost beat sam hubinet's 500hp doge viper, the judes kept asking them to do one more times, they asked them to rematch like 3 or 4 times and taka aona had to forfit cause his engine was overheating only reason he lost

dude u are wrong...Wangan is the name of an expressway in japan. some people say, "lets go race the wangan." which basically means freeway battle. they use wangan as slang to indicate a highspeed race. wangan, or freeway racing, is the antithsesis of drift in japan.

I must ask if you're a halfwit again, because I was pointing out the fact that you tried to read the Japanese editions of Initial D when you could have just read the Tokyopop English translations. :grumpy:

1. Are you really this much of an ass in real life, or are you just playing the tough guy online to get your rocks off.

2. Is it that hard to grasp that I was saying that, key words here: I'VE NEVER HAD ANY INTEREST IN INITIAL D, and only casually thumbed through one at an Import Weapons store where I buy my bokkens.

3. It was in Japanese, I recognized this before I picked it up, but I saw cars and manga and went "Hmmm, I wonder what this is....though I know I can't read it, at least I can look at the pictures."

4. I said that I looked through one of the books, singular, uno, ein, ichi, less than 2. Had I wanted to read them, I would have gone to any local comic shop, or bookstore, or even gone online and looked for them, as I didn't, the assertion that I tried to "read the Japanese editions" is ignorant at best.

5. Consider yourself thoroughly owned, good sir, and walk away.

I live in Brookhaven, New York. C'mere and I'll show you.

And you couldn't go to a bookstore afterward? Jesus.

Then you should have read the damn manga in english before shooting your mouth off.

5. Consider yourself thoroughly owned, good sir, and walk away.

I tremble with Faux Fear.

*chuckles*

You're cute, kinda remind me of me, without the wit, or sense of humor...ok...you don't remind me of myself much at all.

lol@the c'mere and I'll show ya, you have no idea how ironic that is, but hey, I'm way down here in Memphis, and my woman is here, so unless you want to send us both airfare so she can watch, lets just drop the "I could kick your butt, even though you're over 1000 Miles away" routine, k?

Did it ever occur to you that possibly I had learned of the slang usage of Touge from another source besides that silly manga?

No? That's ok, I forgive you and your assumptions.

Edit: Well, mah girlfriend is sleepy again, so to pre-emptively ward off your no doubt scathing reply, nuh uh, I know you are but what am I, I'm rubber you're glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you, nyah nyah nyah nyah-nyah-nyah.

To the rest of you, good night.

Ah, you're just scared.

Did it ever occur to you that possibly I had learned of the slang usage of Touge from another source besides that silly manga?

Simple, you're talking about a mountain road, when Touge ACTUALLY means the highest point in a mountain road. Generally, if you refer to Touge and mean a mountain road, and then mention Initial D, you've gotten most of your info from that...

No? That's ok, I forgive you and your assumptions.

Whatever.

Damn, that girl is ugly. Oh well, you deserve it. Oh yeah, by the way, classic use of, "I HAVE A GIRL YOU DONT HAHAHA".

To the rest of you, good night.

Right...

I wasn't getting it mixed up. I guess I just worded it wrong. What I meant by "highway run" was the stretch of highway that you just defined. Sorry for not being more specific i guess... :ouch:

Consider my waffle roffled.

I was actually reading through one of the zillions of import tuning magazines while shopping at Krogers and they had a section a few years back about the growing popularity of drifting in America, and they went through a variety of the terms, so there you go, making assumptions and making an ass of yourself. :dunce:

Good job. 👍

Calling a pretty girl ugly though, man, thats just a really lame attempt at getting me riled up, and suggests you are either 8, attracted to really unsavory skanks, or jealous.

See, I didn't get into drifting because of ID, I got into it because I like to do it for real, got an old beater that likes to slide around (88 535i), got some big empty parking lots, and I like to toss it around.

Played GT3 on the aforementioned girlfriends brothers PS2, noticed how fun it was keeping the little digital cars sideways, and how I never had to pay for tires, or broken suspension pieces, and got hooked.

I didn't pick this fight, you did by slinging around the term Retard, when you could have merely stated "Actually, ol' chap, Touge refers to the highest point on a Mountain Pass, but it is used as slang by Japanese Youth to refer to the type of Mountain Racing popularized by such forms of media as Initial D, but I can see what you are saying." 👍

Instead you chose the "OMG LOL LOL! this retard didn't read every Initial D manga, what a chump, I bet I could beat him up and insult his woman poorly then get made out to look like an ass for it." route. 👎

As for scared, I fear no man walking this earth, I do JKD, have been for years, and let me assure you, if I hit you, and you don't ask me nicely to never do that again, then you are either doped up on something, or a wall of muscle, and I can simply retreat and get a bat, or semi if need be. :scared:

So remember, when you assume, you make an ass of yourself kiddo. 💡

onikaze, every time you write an essay trying to defend yourself, you look more like a retard.
i gotta say you lose this battle. whenever you write something, captain trips is just like whatever retard, bring it on.
then you talk about how you looked at one ID and that you have a GF so you sound like a man and want to make him jealous.
and i am sure if you brought your jeet kune do to a fight with this dude from long island, you would get your ass thoroughly handed to you.

by the way, you started this whole thing with him by saying...
Onikaze
... be more careful when you point a finger, as you're pointing several back at yourself.
instead of just saying, no im not retarded.

Yes yes, stooping to the level of a child is always a messy business.

I generally try to avoid such things but...

He started it.

*makes a face at captain trip*

It's only his inability to realise he was wrong about a simple misconception, and his quick jumping to conclusions and insults that flipped my rantswitch, but I admit that we are wasting boardspace here with this pissy little hissy fit.

and actually, I answered his "retard" jab with a serious answer:

Onikaze

and a jab of my own, which was clearly too subtle.

foshoazn
can we all just get along?

Yep! But it doesn't mean we have to agree on everything. Just respect each other.

Preach it!

I mean really, we're arguing over the specific usage of slang terms, as opposed to doing what brought us here...tinkering with cars to ruin their overall grip.

On that note...

Touge means a mountain road. It shows the car potential in a small roads. If you never saw a touge before, i suggest you to watch "Hot Version" (Video, racing by Keiichi Tsuchiya aka the Drift King).

My favourite is Citta Di Aria because it's very narrow with tight corners.

Okay, I'm not even going to filter through all that arrogant idiocy, so Ill leave you with this: you're obviously insecure. :sly: Chillax, buddy. I was jokingly suggesting you may be retarded, I was never serious. Look at the little j\k tag. :indiff:

Touge, oh you meant Too-GAY!

LOL A GAY JOKE SO FUNNAY

I'm bisexual, and I take offense to that. :dunce:
