I feel that I can optimise my tune. I never reach the max speed I set up, so I can lower the max speed to get better acceleration overall. I didn't touch the aero settings, may be I can win some speed there because that's not useful on BMB. [Edit]No aero to set up

Is that the race in Professional League? I always used the Gr.3/Gr.B road cars, tuned down to N400 with RSS tyres. They corner like mad and they are so easy to avoid other cars because their handling is so precise.

People also recommend the KTM tuned right down, but I've never been able to drive that thing on big banked corners without spinning it...

There are 3 cars that are often recommended : (and my usual lap times)
  • McLaren F1 '94 tuned to N500 (not the best bonus but esay victories) (lap time between 0'45.5xx and 0'47.000)
  • Porsche 911 GT3 '16 tuned to N400 (you overtake the leader later but it is not hard) (lap time between 0'47.5xx and 0'49.000)
  • KTM tuned to N400 (never tested so I don't know if it is easy to win)

With a N500, car bonus and CRB you get 315k Cr, with a N400 you get 345k Cr. It just take a little more time and is less easy.

It's not you - it's just not possible to do so without a tyre mismatch or suspension tuning (or both). But with a specific tune it's the best option there is.

I can't remember exact lap times, but I know in the WRX and Evo I was overtaking the leader on the final lap or second to last lap. I only ever lost if I made a big mistake. I'm thinking it might have been tuned to N500 though, only ever got 315k Cr. My favourites are the Alfa 4C Gr.3 Road Car and WRX Gr.B Road Car.

KTM tuned at N300 is an easy win.

Good idea, I did not thought about this one. Yes I'd like a tune, I have one RX500, that car is really light. And with a level 2 power udpate she can be tuned just at the limit for N300.

[Edit] Tune found : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/fordlasers-gt-sport-garage.381921/ and I see it can be tuned in N200 but I doubt you can win BMB with so little HP
And I will try with the Ford GT40 MKI on N300 too :)

Well... I need to find a way to be faster with the RX500, my laps at BMB are around 0'54'XXX... I just manage to keep my position. No way to win like that. I used the tune, and tested with 2 max speeds but the result don't vary much, I am too slow. Barely reaching a top speed of 250km/h...

That Mazda RX500 N300 tune from my fordlaser garage was done back in 2018 and it was a very good tune back then, but around a year later PD changed the tire physics. With the new tire physics you could not go flat out anymore on that last corner at Blue Moon Bay Speedway, but you can still win without making any changes to my tune.

I tried my Mazda RX500 N300 tune today with no changes but only the final gear to 3.100, it still wins the race and most of my lap times are around the 0:47.700, but I still prefer driving the KTM.

I'll try again, with final gear set to 3100. I tried with 3320 as in your tune and I tried with max speed set to 250 and 300. Until recently that "final gear" tuning was a bit obscure to me as I was thinking that it was the last ratio of the gear box, it appears that it is the ratio of the differential.

3100 will give me more max speed but slower acceleration, and I fear that I am loosing too much momentum at the first corner, and it takes a long time to regain my speed before the last corner (which I take flat out except if there are moving chicanes in the way).

@BMB: According to my experience the Ford GT40 at N300 is absolutely the best car for this race. Just looking at its sleek bodywork you can tell that - unlike the KTM - it is purpose-built for high-speed races like this. I found it so good that I once specifically seeked out an AI lineup where the LaFerrari started from pole and I had no trouble whatsoever winning the race. I caught up with the Ferrari in lap 11 and left it behing completely in lap 12. Best lap was a 47,104.



All I changed about the setup was to put RM tyres on the front and RSS on the rear to counteract the oversteer. Everything else about the tune was completely standard. It really makes you wonder what the car would be capable of in the hands of a proper player at N200. Sadly the power meter doesn't go low enough for it to reach the N200 range.

I'll try again, with final gear set to 3100. I tried with 3320 as in your tune and I tried with max speed set to 250 and 300. Until recently that "final gear" tuning was a bit obscure to me as I was thinking that it was the last ratio of the gear box, it appears that it is the ratio of the differential.

3100 will give me more max speed but slower acceleration, and I fear that I am loosing too much momentum at the first corner, and it takes a long time to regain my speed before the last corner (which I take flat out except if there are moving chicanes in the way).

It really needs another gearbox Lomic for that track, the thing about my gearbox never change max speed because it messes up the gears.

I'll set all the ratios back to your tune and let the max speed to where you put it, before setting final gear to 3100 and try again 😉

What you should do is reset the Gearbox and start allover again, final gear to 5.500 and set max speed 200kmh, then adjust the gears and then the final gear. Then change the gears if needed and the final gear only, then you may get gears better because it is an 2018 gearbox.
 
Went back to bases, and tried different "final gear" values, and watched the max speed I was able to achieve and the best 2nd and 3rd laps.

Under 3500 max speed begins to decrease, same over 3600, all for gearbox reseted and auto max speed set to 250. I tried 260 but it did not got better.

In the end I did a full race, finished 5 but 24s behind the leader, I would have needed 50 laps top make contact. Every lap tim was in the 0'51.xxx I think you can't win that race if you don't lap regularly around 0'48.5xx

I slipstreamed all I could. Numerous overtakes in the last corner (which I've never taken flat out, I was thinking about the banked one before). I find that coasting in this last corner until apex allows me to loose the less speed, if I manage well I exit around 210km/h. And top speed in the banked corner around 248-249 (without slipstream).

Not found the right method to win with that car for the moment.

And we passed each other a few times, a big woooooosh in the straights and I pass him again on the next corner. Max speed with the Porsche above 280km/h. Only cars going faster (in straights) are on the top 4. I did the fastest lap of the race too. Damn that Ferrari, so much power in the straights, it gains 1s per straight at least. Was gaining 8-9s on it per lap while passing all other cars. But as soon as I was on its tail, it was war !

As a DWG I got ANOTHER Emil Frey Prototype!! I have 5 of them now, are you kidding me GTS ? There's plenty of cars I don't have and plenty of which I have only one, but no, let's give him the car he already has the most dupes...

Edit : Tried again with the McLaren F1, best lap 0'45.517, a few laps in 0'45.xxx, most laps 0'46.xxx and a few times where I had to be patient behind a pack of cars. Failed the CRB anyway 😤 took a wall in the last corner to avoid a car...I should have waited an taken the inside... I passed the 1st on lap 8 so there was plenty of time (No Veyron nor LaFerrari this time, my strongest opponent was in a McLaren F1 ☺️ )

When you go back to basics, and try different "final gear" values and changed the max speed, do you change the 5 gears on the Mazda RX500 ?.
Last night I tried the Mazda RX500 at N200, and the closes I got to winning the race was a 2nd place. I was 1 seconds behind the McLaren but don't have the LaFerrari in the field, no chance of winning.

I used to like getting the Daily gift car but I don't bother anymore, because of the duplicate car you get.

When you go back to basics, and try different "final gear" values and changed the max speed, do you change the 5 gears on the Mazda RX500 ?.

I reset the parameters to default, then I just play with "final gear" to reach max speed possible on the choosen track.

Nice result 2nd with N200, I barely finish 5 tuned to N300 😅 what's your average lap time ? (Not including first lap) and whatmax speed do you reach ?

Always do the transmission flip because it is faster and I highly recommend it.
My average lap time is around 0:50.350, and my fasters lap with slip stream is 0:49.690. I don't know what max speed I reach sorry, but if do that race again I will let you know.

And I find it odd that this is in the game. Seeing as how there are no races utilizing it. I know in GT5 (or was it 6?.....can't remember) there was a series that used it. But there's not in GTS, as far as I've seen.
