In my case after playing almost for 2 years since release, I literally stopped for some months...well like 6 or more.
I watched some videos the other day and decided to turn on the game again (I´m also busy trying rFactor 2, pCARS, Assetto Corsa, R3E, etc, on PC) and I just put Nürburgring with standard (not tuned at all cars) with their regular tyres and having a lot of fun making some races and personal laps.
Even after trying rFactor 2 (for ME, the best simulator) GT5 feels easier if you use any tyres above Racing hards (even Racing hards feels good and more realistic than softs, nothing new here I know) but it feels more realistic when you are using let´s say for example a stock McLaren MP4 12C or whatever that comes stock.
I had some really cool races against the AI at least (not winning against the usually 2/3 "crazy top rabbits" that are like 1 minute or more in front of you at the start) but the cars behave really good and challenging as I believe they should feel. At least now I use my hands to recover the car when I loose it a little from the back and to keep it more controlled.
Also the FFB of my Logitech G27 feels a little bit better or more responsive than before (not sure if it is a placebo effect, but could be).
And playing in tracks that I almost never used since the release of the game because they were in the Prologue and I got bored from them (Fuji for example).
So my favourite thing to do...race with stock cars and race like in real life, not risking too much trying to avoid collisions with cars, using all the "realist" possible features like tyre degradation and such...things I like to do when I play simulators...race.
