Sims *duh*, unless you for some reason don't want longer drifts, then go with something different. But primarily I guarantee you all the good drifters use sims.

that doesn't mean shhh...
and that's nice how you include yourself in that group...

Most would... And how does that not mean ****? When people mention the best drifters on GTP those are the names I usually hear by all. So how about YOU go and prove me otherwise.

First post here :) Hello everyone!

To answer the question, I use sim tires. Easier to do longer drifts with those. since I'm sort of a n00b I haven't taken the time to test any other :D
I have to learn to walk before i can run right? :)

naming people's names isnt going to prove that using sims is better than anyother tire. YES they are good at drifting but i believe that i'm just as good using normal tires.

what i'm basically going against is how azndrifter stated that
"i guarantee you that all the good drifters use sims."

and to prove that that's not right i'd have to show you what i can do, however i don't have the technology...

all i can do is wait for GT4 and show you that it ain't all about SIMS or high horsepower...

Well, personally, I use all tires, depending on the HP, and weight of the car. I use sims more than anything else, but I still enjoy normals and sports. It just depends on my mood I guess. However, sims are the best way to learn IMHO. They help you with throttle control quite a bit, and teach you how to hold smooth drifts.........

;)

I use sims. I never used to but after taking the advice around here, i started using lower powered cars and they work great. When cars start getting to 300+ i use normal and around 400+ i use racing but sims are my favourite.

I wonder how I rank compared all the great sim drifters... hmm
Battle stage
Bustwave
Silviadrifter
Cudaman
Thio
PERG
ETC

I'm all the way down here? I hope NOT!

i agree

I like black tires the best. Red tires are faster, blue tires are better for braking, but black tires are definitely the best for drifting. 👍

You know what? Your right......... Black tires are indeed far superior to all other tires.............

Ok, that's the last time I am typing like that. I could feel my IQ dropping rapidly, as I wrote. My intellect feels somehow weakened.............

Why do people make threads like this? And its always the same members? What tyres do you use? What HP? WHat is your fav car? What drivetrain? The list goes on... This is fuel for flaming... Ofcoz! Why?? We all know the answer to that..

*sigh*

Leave it to Shadow Drifter to start some kind of controversy in the drifting forums.

Well even though I have seen numerous people agree that sims are the "best" tires for drifting, I'm going to go with Normals or Sports on this one.

Why Shadow WHY?!?!?!?

Well, if you are fortunate enough (Berna, SilviaDrifter, Prahjec) to have actually taken a car sideways then you know that sims really don't simulate the feel of drifting at all. I find that at stock hp the 240sx Fastback feels more like a real 240 going sideways than it does on sims.

Sims are just used to make these hyper-exaggerated drift lengths and massive amounts of smoke. In short, sims are for show. You want to experience what drifting feels like, slap your normal tires back on and then hit Apricot Hill, or hey, Complex String! Yeah, let's see how many 180hp Truenos can drift the big circle with normals. HAH!, Yeah not so easy with out that oil/ice under your tires is it.

Yeah, your right David... Sims tires don't simulate real life tires .. I think they were put into gt3 to make it harder and more challenging for pro drivers...

in D1GP...it is ILLEGAL to use anything but street tires. in fact the cars must pass an inspection...requiring registration of the vehicle, as well as a decibal test in case the exhaust is too loud.

if you want to excel..sim tires are the way to go.

if you simply want to drift to say you did it..go with slicks.

(you will notice that the experienced drifters will say sims, however the noobs say slicks...hint hint ).

How do they simulate real life tires when they have no grip.... The tires the d1 drivers use have grip and that grip is still in effect when they drift.....
