Hi folks :)

Simple idea this; which car in GT4 has your favourite handling? The one you chuck around tracks just for the sheer pleasure of it?

"favourite" doesn't neccessarily mean "best" either. It could be say, the yellowbird, if you like a challenge, or maybe you're a drift freak, who doesn't care about fast laps so long as you can get that rear end sliding!

Also, for goodness sake, SAY what it is you love about the cars handling... it's brakes, suspension, (stiff OR rolling!) how it goes around corners, etc.

So, whether you're a "goes like it's on rails around corner" type, or a "love to throw it into every corner to hear the tyres wailing!" sort, let the world know just what they're missing, by driving something else!

well, something about this car it just appeals to me plus its fast as hell for a under 300 hp car around the ring. I drive this car when i'm stressed because it relaxes.
 
I've yet to get the hang of drifting or overt powersliding, so the Yellowbird is out. I WILL master that car one day, though. :)

I like the BMW's on the 'Ring... The Audi TT Touring racer car thingie, that one is definitely the "drives like it's on rails" car. Unless you're behind another car... when you lose your downforce, it gets awfully skittish.

for someone whose sig refers to missing the point, i find it somewhat ironic that you seem have missed that train here. FtB wants to konw what aspect of the 330i that makes it fun and relaxing...

i personally go for the F1 for pure adrenaline. the crisp turn in at speed and doing known corners blindingly quicker than you would in any other car.

for bums-out-fun, the old alfas are great, as well as the good ol' stratos. having a car which is so controllable while so ridiculously sideways is always totally grin inducing.
 
i love my pesky C60 judd.. its on rails round Sarthe.. i also love my Xanavi Nismo GTR.. its such a fast car with less than 500HP.. and my Fav road car is my Evo 6.. its soo great for sliding thru corners - soo relaxing
 
I have a mildly tuned 300zx, its fast and I can either drift or not... it gets the most driving out of all my cars. I also have a nissan micra that handles like its on rails... blitzes the tarmac rallies :) (except hard of course as I havent maxed the HP out)
 
My Dodge Viper SRT-10 Team Oreca race car has the absolute best, most amazing handling out of any other car in my garage, it sticks like glue even under full throttle. Turn in is perfect, not too twitchy, and it holds its line no matter what, even if you brake, floor it, or let off the gas in the middle of a corner. Spectacular.

My '97 Chevy Camaro Z28 is one of my favorite-handling road cars, as it handles much better than its weight would imply. It has an amazing amount of grip in the corners, and you can put the power down really early with just enough power-oversteer to hold your line while accelerating. Another favorite road cars is the Viper SRT-10, another great-handling car, similar to the Z28 :)

The Yellowbird and BMW 2002 Turbo are some of my favorites though, along with a lot of the older cars. I LOVE lift-throttle oversteer when I'm out having fun around the Nurburgring, it just brings a smile to my face. My '00 S2000 is probably my favorite drifting car, as it is really easy to get sideways with a little lift of the throttle, tap of the brakes, or a slight feint, and even under full throttle it has just enough power to keep a drift going without the back end coming all the way around. Great for high-speed drifts, low-speed drifts, and will slide around anything you throw at it with ease.

I think that about covers it :D
 
I'm not going to go ballistic over best handling here.

Favorite handling? Maybe the Lotus Carlton, just tight enough to be quick, and loose enough to be entertaining. It makes you feel like a hooligan.

Alpines are also lovely, as is the 2002ti. Very low and controllable break-aways and drifts. Not serious competition cars, just plain fun.
 
I´d say the Lotus Elan. It´s not that fast, but man it handles well! Good acceleration, good brakes, and great handling. It´s very low weight makes it very fast around a track. So fast infact, that I kick Elise-butt with it! I drive most of my cars stock, by the way...
 
Mercedes 190 E Evoll .. final S license? ..

i love to drive around the ring with it .. it handles the bumps very well and it is not as chunky as those skylines or 350z etc .. wont be running off the track easily .. pretty decent speed as well ..

Just got my first one yesterday and, MY GOD! Does this car even know the meaning of the word understeer? It'll just hang it's ass out all day long.

I tried to provoke understeer, but it was havin' none of it.

You don't need to provoke a drift though - just tip it into the corner and be ready with the counter steer. Measure the throttle input and it'll stay out there for as long as you want. Pull it back into line and then aim for the next corner entry...

I also love the BP-Falken D1GP RX-7! This thing is amazing to drift as well. Same reasons as above: just kick the back out and hang it out as long as you want until you're ready to haul it back in... :crazy:

It's not all about drifting though - the ZZII floats my boat. Corners like a cat on carpet and pulls harder than a fat man at a peep show... :lol:

Indeed, Although I hate most understeery cars, I have to agree that the ZZII is a blast to drive.

I don't like this idea...
Simply acknowledging that the "best handling car" thread exist is not enough for me to warrant a "favorite" handling car thread.

After all, can we really say there is a "best" anything... It is just opinion.
Wouldn't that mean the "best handling car" vote for any of us is in fact our "favorite handling car" ? :rolleyes:

Sorry to be the downer but that is how I see this.

i like any of the cars that you car dial the understeer out of. 👍
most of the mr cars are pretty good for this like the lotus espirit se (or elise 190/motorsport cars), honda nsx-r or lm road, even the clio v6 is ok.
of the fr cars the honda s2000 tuner cars are fun to drive fast, good turn in and grip, the corvette zo6 works well too.
of the 4wd cars the mitsubishi 3000 gt or vr4 cars were a real suprise to me, they turn in very well but i suspect that may be due to a little too much rear brake bias as std. ive done some wild four wheel drifts whilst racing these things. :)
most of the other 4wd's have too much understeer for me.
havent found a single ff car that i like driving, shame really
 
I keep going back to the Protomotors Spirra because it's got a nice big muscular engine, and it's nice and easy to drift, without feeling too easy like the Stratos. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Stratos too, but the Protomotors makes drifting a bit more challenging so it is more rewarding to me.

The Supra SZ is destined for similar treatment for similar reasons.

Also, the Opel Speedster I tuned for the Speedster cup took its mods particularly well, and is now my choice if I want to drive something fast but fun.

But the Spirra tops the pile. Great car. It's how I expected the Esprit V8 to feel, actually, since that's supposed to be easy to drift.
 
I loove the handling on my RUF BTR... 430 hp and Race suspension (for treks on to the 'ring) The handling on this car is surreal, you can kick the arse out and still get it to go in a straight line. It's pure Porsche delight!(it can be a b**tch tho)
 
One of my all-time favourites is the Evo IV Rally car. It's not very powerful or fast, but it feels like I can throw it into every corner as fast as I can and it will make it. If I want to drive fast, I can do it. If I want to have fun and drift a bit, the Lancer is good for that too.

Conclusion: A good car doesn't have to be fast or glamorous-looking. A simple rally car will do.
 
Well, my opinion changes from time to time :)
But right now I've been playing with a 67 shelby Mustang GT350R, tuned it to just over 400hp, sticky tires(racing mediums) and bigger brakes, and also the racing trans (gotta have a 6 speed...lol) and just the sport suspension...
I de-tuned my 00 Z06 corvette to 450ish hp and have been chasing its ghost with the Shelby, talk about a chalenge......

Just reminds me of an old trans am race car.... thats why i love to drive it :)
Tons of torque means it comes out of the corners kinda sideways so that makes for some fun, also with the 6 speed it gets movin pretty good too.... I cant quite catch the vette yet... but soon enough i'll get that sucker!

Well, for those who know me, my first call must be the Mazda RX-8 :D Awesome handling, fairly neutral, and fun to drive...

Other favorites would be:
RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX-7: This was my JGTC series car, but damn this thing is glued to the road. This is how a race car should handle IMO.
Subaru Impreza STi Spec-C: The best handling 4WD I've driven (I haven't driven them all for the record). Controllable oversteer is what 4WD should be about, not ploughing understeer like most of them.
Lotus Esprit V8 SE (I think): I don't like MRs that sweep the track behind them, but this car can be tamed, and she's a pleasure to drive. Just a touch of understeer ironically, but only when abused.
Corvette Z06: Very surprised at how hard it is to get the back to kick out. Very sharp handling for a muscle car.

Okay, so I suppose I tend toward "neutral" handling cars to suit my point-and-shoot driving style I guess. I generally prefer RWDs, with just a touch of oversteer (don't give me understeer...or anything FWD :irked: )

you spent all that time thinking about what to post and you still misspelled know. what part of something about this car did you not get? it means i dont know what makes it special it just is sheeesh. :dunce:
 
Love the mazda RX8 lightened with upgraded suspension and tires...what a dream..also love the CRX, just a little ballast weight in the rear to help her rotate in the corners...I love it !
 
My all-time favorite (as you might of guessed from other posts), remains the Lotus Elise 111r. This car combines like-on-rails handling if you power through turns with a completely manageable oversteer if you throttle-off during turns. A perfect combination IMHO. I love taking this thing up against monsters like the Pagini and Ford GT Race Cars, and, assuming I'm on a relatively tight track (El Capitan, Deep Forest, etc.), blowing them away through the corners even in 200 point races. And I usually drive the car with standard or sports suspension. It's just that dang good!

My other favorite handling cars are the Yellowbird and the 54' Mercedes gullwing. I love the Yellowbird for the amount of skill it takes to manage that rear-weight-bias, and the gullwing for the wonderful body-roll. I love watching the replays of the gullwing and watching the front bumper just about slam the ground each time I get on the brakes!

I drive most of my cars fully-tuned, but often stick with stock or close-to-stock suspension.

Here is a photo of my yellow Lotus Elise taking the lead against some very nasty competition at Deep Forest in a 200 point race. They never catch me!

my favorite handling car would have to be the Ruf BTR '86... classic old-skool 911 lines and an aftermarket wing that follows "function before fashion", making it so awkward to look at and so beautiful at the same time... give it all the go fast goodies... adjust a little rear-bias in the downforce, slap some harder tires up front with softer in the rear to counteract some nasty RR lift-off oversteer at high corner-entry speeds, soften the rear suspension a tad, and you have yourself some good old turbocharged boxer goodness... it's still sketchy and demands my total concentration--but damn it's fun... *vro-o-o-ops-s-s-sho-o-o-omscre-e-e-ech* :dopey:
 
Favourite handling car? The SLR sticks to the track like glue when you slap on some racing medium tires. I also like my Toyota GT-One (Black). The Viper GTS-R Team Oreca was one of my favourites from GT3, and I was rather surprised that it handled almost the same way in GT4 (Drives like its on rails.)

The first time I drove an F090/S in GT3, I was amazed at how well and how fast it cornered. (F1 CARS RULE! :dopey: ) However the Formula GT in GT4 can get unstable through corners, making it tricky to drive (Especially at the 'ring)

Oh, and by the way: FRONT WHEEL DRIVE SUCKS!
 
The Lancia Stratos: This is the car that GT4's physics engine should be proud of. Hard to learn, damn near impossible to master, this car is twitchy almost to a fault. Then you realise that was exactly how it was in real life, bringing about admiration for all that have driven it succesfully. Not the most refined car in history, but a car that is incredibly fast in the right hands. Especially demanding at above 130MPH speeds, as the slightest touch can pile the car into a wall, just like a classic Porsche 911, though this is probably due to aerodynamic lift and not the engine placement. Drives like the RUF BTR, only slightly more stable and less (ever so slightly) prone to lift throttle oversteer. Doesn't need any ugly spoiler when driven with this in mind.
 
My Favorite handling car is the BMW 330i. Very little understeer and the tires only break loose when you want them too. Very decent car. 👍
